Our stay was horrendous! I was there for a family reunion with a large group of us staying there, and we all had various issues while there. The cleanliness of every room was disgusting for all in our group who stayed. Everyone noted how dirty and unkept their rooms were. Our room in particular was painfully gross, with someone else's hair all over the bathroom on the back of the toilet, in the shower, in the sink, and on the floor. Speaking of the floor, all of ours were sticky, including the hard tile floor in the bathroom and the carpet in the room. In shoes, my feet stuck to the tile and the carpet! We had not spilled anything in there. The floors were literally like this upon our arrival. I couldn't even walk around the room barefooted. I wore shoes in the shower and throughout the room after realizing the floors were sticky all over. There was something spilled on the nightstand (also NOT spilled by us) that was never cleaned up. Gross! One night I went to get ice and there was an ENORMOUS bug on crawling on the wall! One of your guests in our group lost power in their room and had to be moved to another room. The tv AND the remote in that room didn't even work. Another guest in our group experienced a leak in their room that caused damage to their personal effects. The bathrooms were also desperately out of date and in disrepair. I understand that the hotel is currently undergoing construction, but we were not made aware despite the claim by customer service that this was posted on the website. It was not, and I took screenshots of the site to prove this. And frankly, this would not have bothered me one bit if the rooms that you allow people to book/stay in were at least cleaned, as I imagine you would not allow a stay in a room that itself was under construction. However, I believe the hallway construction is likely what exposed the bugs, in which case I would have at least liked a heads up. There was no staff on duty over the weekend to address the electricity concern in the room having lost power. Then when I attempted to check out of the hotel, the attendant at the desk was nowhere to be found. So we headed out the front door to put the last of our bags in the car only to see the attendant emerge from a pick up truck parked on the loading/unloading circle outside the lobby doors to tend to the front desk. When we didn't bother to return inside to try checking out with him, he went on back into the pick up truck without a word as he walked by us. So apparently he had better things to do in his vehicle than work the front desk I guess. Really annoying! I would normally simply checkout on my Marriott BonVoy app on my phone, but because this was very early in the morning well ahead of the 12noon checkout time, I guess it didn't allow for it due to the time. I was so disappointed in my stay at this hotel, as I really wanted to like it given the small college town, but it was a terribly bad experience overall here. I plan to write to the corporate office for at least a...
Read moreI typically stay with Marriott when the opporunity presents itself. I have traveled extensively personally and professionally over the past 10 years and Marriott is typically my choice based on high quality and a great rewards program. When visiting Troy, it has been no different. I have stayed at this property MANY times over the past four years. My stay the last couple of times have not been great. The last time I stayed I saw a couple of things that made me feel that when servicing the room there was not close attention paid to detail. However, not enough for me to make a fuss. I realize we are all human and things can be overlooked and mistakes can be made. I simply left a note for the housekeeper. This time coupled with the last time has made me consider staying some place else next time. Here are a few things that were of concern to me from my stay last week: The first thing I noticed when I arrived in my room was that one of the lamp shades next to the bed was misshaped. Not a big deal. I turned on the light to notice that actually it was torn and should be replaced. Then I noticed it looked like it actually was discolored as well. It looked as if it has been wet. It should be replaced. The 2nd thing I noticed is the desk chair was in bad shape. The seams were torn and stuffing was exposed. The 3rd thing I noticed one of the towels in the bathroom was discolored. This doesn't mean it's not clean but definitely should not be used in a guest room. If this were one of my towels at home I would use it to clean around the house but no longer for my personal use. The next thing I noticed there was something caked on the remote control. Every guest in the room likely touches the remote control and it should be cleaned when the room is cleaned. The last thing I noticed is there were things that were in need of cleaning and repair in the fitness area. Small things that could be fixed easily such as rusty and corroded emergency clips on the cardio equipment. I know these may not seem like the biggest infractions. I have become accustomed to a certain standard as a dedicated Marriott guest. The look and feel of a room goes a long way with guest satisfacton and the feel of the level of quality. When staying with Marriot, I am used to the fact that it will not be the cheapest choice but I do expect it to be one of the highest...
Read moreLocation is convenient. Rooms are decent only. My aunt works here. And had been able to get me a room for a discounted rate a few times. Which I’m proud for. But all of a sudden many issues have came about bc of this. I’m assuming bc management didn’t want to give the discount he has threatened my aunt of her job! My resent stay was for 2 nights. 12/25 through 12/27. I was told when checking in my total was $179. But $131 was drafted from my account. On the evening of the 27th i decided i would like to stay 1 more night. I live over 2 hours away and always enjoy spending time with family. I asked the “manager” how much would it be to stay for 1 more night. He stated $139 no discount will be applied. I said ok thanks. So now I’m expected to pay only for an additional night for $139 plus tax. On today the 28th I’m being told I’ve paid NOTHING and owe over $291. And my aunt is being told she will have to pay if I don’t. This is the biggest scam of all times. And I can’t wait call corporate next week. Every one has a manager! This will not get by with me. My whole this is if you don’t want to give discounts state that from start. But don’t give and then be rude to the guest for absolutely no reason. Staff is nice. But management is horrible. I will not be staying at this hotel again. It’s a beautiful Hampton inn next door. Try it out instead. And breakfast is included. And in the mist of this all management is not calling me back but is calling and threatening my elderly aunt when she’s working and needs her job! This will not slide this is so unprofessional and honestly can’t believe this is happening at a Marriott honestly! Don’t stay here!!!! Housekeepers are friendly! That’s about the only good thing I have to say about this place! I’m disgusted! And I will also be speaking with a lawyer if this is not figured out. Bc it’s so unfair that someone in authority think they can threaten to take someone’s job that’s working hard to pay bills etc! Don’t work in customer service if you can’t deal with customers! Manager is a light brown African American man he is always rude. Everytime I call front desk I’m always nice, and he is always on the other end with the worst attitude! This is not...
