When I called the man at the front desk to ask if there was laundry, he could hardly understand me asking if there was laundry. Communication issues happen, that’s fine. However, he said there was laundry, and then said there wasn’t when I asked again because I felt like I wasn’t well understood. There was no guest laundry when I got there. Okay, it’s just one night.
Well, the girl who checked me in was kind and gave us a door by the exit door for the dog, which was great. The hallways reeked like cigarettes and weed. The man across the hall from us was smoking weed and leaving his hotel door open to graciously share it with us despite it being a no smoking hotel. Doesn’t seem like they enforce it. we got settled in and about an hour later tried to go get dinner across the parking lot and leave our big dog in the room. We noticed about an inch or so gap at the top of the door and along the side. We could see the ceiling of the room and all the light from the outside when the door was closed and locked. We looked at other closed doors in the hallway to assure this was different since, having worked in hotels myself, I had never seen a gap like this before. We noticed many of the other doors did indeed have a gap where we could see light from the door when it was closed at the top, but these gaps were no more than less than 1/4 inch. We went down to the front to get a different room because I wasn’t going to leave my luggage, much less my best friend, in an unsafe door while I left the property. The girl at the front was sitting down and on the phone giggling with someone when we went down, which didn’t bother me the first time. She then told me all the doors were like that, to which I said no they weren’t and invited her to come see. she said she couldn’t change my room since it had been over an hour in the room. I explained that I would then like to leave the hotel and get a refund, to which she replied she would talk to a manager and see if she could switch it. Her manager gave the go ahead to get switched, but it I needed to switch again for any reason they would charge me? there was no luggage cart, which nobody can really help, so it was fine. I’m grateful she moved us.
Then, we went to go swimming as It was “heated” and indoor, but when we got there, the pool was nearly freezing, and I don’t mean it metaphorically. There is a spa button in the pool to heat up everything, but when we asked at the front desk, she was again giggling on speaker with someone and told us it does not work. Whew! The bottom of the pool was borderline slimy and I don’t believe the water was very clean, so we got out quickly to shower. It was at that point we were told there was no guest laundry, which I expected anyhow.
I would have rather spent a little more money and stayed at the...
Read moreWe stayed here for a 4 day weekend-hotel was empty the entire weekend for a good reason. Breakfast was bread, hard boiled eggs, cereal, and coffee. Beds were soft, but found 5-10 stink bugs per room. They were coming from the window sill daily. Mold around window frame and in bathroom. Pool water was blue with a film at the top and sat at about 90 degrees. They concreted over their hot tub and have had chairs with dust in a circle around them. When we went to leave Monday morning there were no carts remaining; but they had some behind the desk and watched like lumps on a log as we left barely able to push and carry our belongings. Very shady people hanging out in large groups in the lobby and pool area but not swimming. Wouldn’t recommend for families. TV was an LCD with 15 channels and no sound; sound was crackling. Locks on connecting rooms did not work. The handle kept it close, but the lock was misaligned from the door from and would not connect. Saturday night kids were running through the halls shooting nerf guns knocking on doors even pulling the handle of ours. While their family gathered in like a group of 20 in the lobby drinking. Also, Downtown St. Louis is about a 30 minute drive; food and activities are about 15 minutes unless you like Cracker Barrel or Taco Bell. We will not...
Read moreCheck-in was fine, the front desk girl was nice. We got into our room, dropped off our bags, and I turned down the bed. I always like to check the sheets and air conditioner first thing when I check into a room. When I turned down the bed, there were fleas in it!! The air conditioner didn't work right either, and it was hot. I immediately called down to the front desk and they did move us. Our next room was filthy. Trash on the floor, hair in the tub, old food in the fridge... We had to head out because we had tickets for an event, which is why we were in the area. When we got back, my 6 yo son could not get comfortable because he kept freaking out about the fleas. He had never seen a flea before and was just nervous they'd be in the other room. We went to the pool and the water was cloudy and there was black mold on the ceiling. We cringed taking showers back at the room due to the hair and mystery stains on the shower curtain and tub. My sister and I could not relax and get comfortable because the room just felt so dirty. We will never, ever stay at this property, and will likely never stay at a Super 8, again. Don't...
