This was the most horribly dirty and unsafe hotel I've ever seen. My wife and I literally had to leave right away and find other accomodations at 8pm after being on the road for over 12 hours. Staying would have put our health and safety at risk.
The person working the front desk was really nice and helpful and cancelled my reservation quickly without issue after we saw the state of the room. That's the only good thing I can say about the place.
When we first walked down the hallway to the room, the musty smell of the place was already a red flag. There were spiderwebs and spiders right above the room door with dead bugs.
Inside the room there was an unbelievable amount of black mold on the wall above the bed. It's hard to see in the attached photos, the lighting was really dim in the room, but if you zoom in you can see it. The stainless fixtures were also covered in rust, so there are clearly really bad moisture issues. The floor was also dirty, the toilet seat was stained and peeling, the shower was dirty, the walls also had weird stains aside from the mold.
This place is an absolute dump, if you value your health do not stay here.
UPDATE: After initially receiving a refund from the front desk staff, the manager elected to charge my card again and is refusing to refund the second transaction. His responses have been extremely rude and unprofessional and he never apologized for the state of the hotel, instead choosing to accuse me of attempting to defraud the hotel. This has been the absolute worst hotel experience of my entire life. Best Western customer service is unable to help with the dispute since this is a franchise location owned by a separate company. Read moreMy fiance and I recently came to your Best Western for an overnight stay, Sunday. 8/15 - Monday, 8/16. We were attending a concert that night for his birthday. I had made reservations at another hotel and once seeing that hotel, we knew there was no way we were going to stay there. We frantically searched for a hotel and instantly found your Best Western. Upon arrival we were pleasantly greeted by Alex. We explained our situation and we laughed about it, obviously she had heard about the nasty hotel we were referring to. We all had a good laugh, which was much needed, by me especially. She was able to accommodate our room request last minute and gave us a great rate. My fiance's sneakers became soaked from the rain (he only brought one pair of shoes with him.) I contacted Alex to ask about a hair dryer because there wasn't one in our room, she checked house keeping but there wasn't one available. I asked if there were clothes dryers available for guest use, so he could attempt to dry his sneakers before the concert and she directed me to them. The dryer ate his money, so again we were down at the front desk bugging Alex. She graciously offered to put his sneakers in the housekeeping dryer (I hope this doesn't get her in trouble.)
Please know that Alex went above and beyond as far as we're concerned to help us in any way she could. She was an absolute pleasure to deal with and made what started as a tough situation turn into a distant memory, that we will definitely laugh about for years. Her wonderful personality coupled with the cleanliness and comfort of your hotel made this an even greater overnight trip from Pennsylvania for a concert. She is definitely an asset...
Read moreStayed with a large group. Good jump off point to shopping & local attractions. You walk to Fridays & Burger King. Strong smell if weed on the 2nd floor @ the elevator near laundry area. Laundry by debit card vendor. wood like floor s in rooms & still remodeling inside & out. Yes, they were resurfacing the sidewalk in the daytime?! Front & rear doors open 24/7. Pool ( in mid summer) no DHEC inspection, no clorine testing posted. cloudy water, couldn't see the bottom, pool area/ chairs dirty or moldy, clerk said only bromine /no clorine. Yet, there were signs posted that the pool was open, even in the elevator. How do you open a pool that was closed w/ o an inspection in North Carolina? No we didn't get a free night for staying a week. Yes, I'm a members cards/ but used the group rate. Clerk feeling some kinda way, cause several checked out before dawn? From NYC to Florida , why say anything about that.. it's a hotel. By the way, your maids only cleaned my room when I left. We kept it clean. They only changed in towels daily.You have friendly accommodating staff. The guy who kept the breakfast area followed COVID protocols ( clean/ sanitized) ( friendly) , even the maintenance guy ( friendly) Everyone spoke even when they just hanging out & not working. No, you didn't speak to me as you left for the day going out to your car( not friendly/ not accommodating)nor at the front desk when I was in the lobby, your clerks did. They're professional staff.
