Feeling stuck between a rock and a hard place. Every few months, we drive from Maine to Mechanicsburg to visit my 88 year old mother. We first discovered Country Inn two years ago because of a great on line deal. We have continued returning for the great service, clean and comfortable rooms, pool and hot tub, and continental breakfast. When we came last time in March, the hot tub was gone due to it being a liability. Ok, disappointed ,but I understand. Now this trip, we are very disappointed. We stayed four nights. We went to have our complementary breakfast only to find out the orange juice part of the machine is and will be out of order for our stay, again we understand but find that disappointing as well. Now, on to the cleanliness of the room. Upon arriving, there was an empty toilet paper roll in the dispenser and a half used one on a grab bar. Not impressed. We took a photo because we were so unimpressed. The second evening, we return to find the same toilet paper situation and a new roll added on the grab bar. Keep in mind the empty roll was still there, plus a floss stick was in the middle of the bathroom floor. The bed, well, how to describe, was just a mess. An attempt at making it had been made but a subpar effort as the pillows were askew and comforter was extremely wrinkled. Again, not the quality I have come to expect from Country Inn. We took our issues to Hannah, front desk manager. We showed photos. We emailed her photos. Evening three we return to the same toilet paper situation, same floss stick on the floor, the bedroom floor had not been swept, the bed was not made well and shampoo and conditioner not replaced since we used them the first night. We again went to talk with Hannah. She forwarded the photos to her boss and has heard nothing back. This is extremely frustrating. Though it seems Hannah's hands are tied since housekeeping is hired from an outside source. So, what am I supposed to do? Our last night here, not one issue has been resolved. The floss on floor in bathroom is still there as I type this, floors not swept, bed made horribly, hotel out of shampoo and conditioner (waiting for some from another hotel) and you guessed it two empty rolls of toilet paper left , one on roll and one on top, and now two new rolls on top of the grab bar. I travel enough to know this is the worst housekeeping I have seen. Am I to stop coming to my home away from home because of an issue that can't be controlled or return to have these same conditions continue? Please advise, what should a loyal customer do? I am extremely...

Cons: Bottom floor looks jankier - uneven carpeting, some windows broken, screens bent walls are thin wifi is spotty some sheets are threadbare, feather pillows go completely flat, sheets only come up to chest - practically have to unmake the bed to sleep in it no shade on the desk lamp toilet is loud - and faces the mirror in the hall (who needs that view?) no fan in the bathroom TV 90% shopping channels Fridge & Microwave are in low cabinets - makes you feel like sitting on the floor to use them
I was pretty sick when I checked into this hotel and I had to leave where I had been staying early in the morning, so I arrived at the hotel by 10am. I asked if there were any rooms unused the night before and if I could check in so early and at first they said it was $50 fee to check in early (which, for a $80/night place seems excessive) then it seemed like they agreed to let me in if a room became available, which it never did. It's not exactly their fault that I couldn't check in early but I don't think they actually tried, the result being that I was very sick, sleeping in my car for about 5 hours before I could check in at the regular time. Even 30 minutes or an hour earlier would have been very welcome at that point.
That being said, once I was in the room, the amenities and the service were very good for this price point. I expect thin sheets and towels at an $80 hotel, but they also brought me breakfast both mornings so I wouldn't contaminate the breakfast room, which was quite nice. And I ended up wiping down everything with sanitizing wipes as I left so that the cleaning staff wouldn't be quite so exposed to whatever I had.
I had used Hotwire to book this hotel and the hotel did give me a little grief about it afterwards - I think Hotwire must make it look like I haven't paid, so keep...
Read moreThis is the third year in a row of staying here when visiting family for the holidays. We were so impressed the last two years that we truly looked forward to our stay this time… just to be very disappointed…
In the past, we had hotel staff verbally so dedicated to finding my step son’s stuffed animal he left behind. They searched for several days, calling to report almost daily…
This time… was very different. We won’t be returning to stay here. First off, the stairwells smell like cigarette smoke - and not just old, stale cigarette smoke - they smell like someone continues to smoke in them. Secondly, our first room did not cool. We reported this to the front desk and we were promptly and politely provided another room. Given this was 2200/2300, we didn’t feel like arguing the point when we arrived to the new room just to be smacked in the face with cigarette smoke smell… just for the room not to cool down. And each time we returned to the room, the smell was just as strong, again indicating active smoking. We would’ve been better off staying in the first room. Lastly, we did arrive to breakfast a little after 10, which was our bad and it would’ve been okay had it been handled correctly or even remotely politely. My fiancé and step son went down to see people eating and food out so my fiancé told my step son to grab something (not really realizing we were late) - just to be stopped and told rudely and abruptly “the cafe is closed and it’s for staff to eat”…
The rooms weren’t clean - stains on the couches and on the comforters, the curtains were stained and ripped/tattered, there was a disgusting amount of dust in easy to clean spaces… disappointed in what used to be a nice place to stay. We loved that they accepted our K-9.
Giving an overall 3-star because there were some redeeming incidences worth acknowledging: the manager when calling to book, the prompt service of the front desk about the hot room, service in the past… but I think based on this experience a 3-star rating is too generous.
We will be looking to stay in the same area, but in a better...
