This was my first time to Sugarbush mountain, and my son and I had a great time at the Sugarbush Inn. My son remarked that he felt like we had stepped back in time, and I agreed. The Inn is how I picture an old-fashioned ski lodge. There are large rooms for sitting and reading, with a fireplace, pool table, and old Steinway piano. Breakfast is served in a quaint dining room with large picture windows. It’s a full breakfast—eggs, bacon, pancakes, muffins, hot coffee with real cream, bagels with Vermont peanut butter. The atmosphere makes one want to talk to other guests, and I met some lovely folks while I was there, including one who played original music on the piano for us nightly. ||||Note, though, that there are few amenties. We had to carry our luggage to the third floor without help. No elevators. No ice machines (though the front desk quickly provides buckets of ice upon request). ||||There’s a great Thai restaurant on site, but be sure to get reservations on the weekends as they fill up quickly. ||||The room we had on the third floor was large but simple. The beds were super comfortable with nice linen. The rooms||themselves were old and creaked and made odd noises in the pipes. We didn’t mind. ||||It’s super close to the ski mountain—just a mile or so, and you get access to the fitness facility up there and pool and hot tub (though a hot tub on site would have been the cherry on top for sure). ||||I would books this place over a generic hotel anytime. Reasonable prices, good company, great location,...
Read moreWhen I booked this Inn there was no information about the 3rd floor not having AC. The first night we must have lost 10 lbs it was so hot in our room. The next morning at the "free" continental breakfast we talked with 2 other couples on the same floor with the same issue.||||This is an older building as evidenced by the fact that all the rooms still use keys for access. There is NO ELEVATOR. To get to the 3rd floor that meant 3 flights of stairs...with luggage. Also, the front desk closes about 10PM and opens again at 7AM. If you need ice there is no machine access, the front desk must get ice for you. On the 3rd floor there are no refrigerators in the rooms. They do have cable BUT there is a process to use it not just turn it on...no tv the first night because we could not turn the box on.||||Since I had to be out early in the morning I did not get a chance to speak with someone at the front desk until the afternoon. When I did and told them that I had not been informed that the 3rd floor had no AC they moved me to the 2nd floor where there was AC, cable that worked and a refrigerator. The additional fifteen dollar charge for the 2nd floor was waived for my trouble.||||The Staff at the front desk was friendly and supportive. The Inn was clean and quiet for the time we were there. The continental breakfast was ok and the next day we opted to go to Rumbles further up the...
Read moreWhile Covid restrictions limited some amenities, Sugarbush doesn't put much into this Inn, and they definitely could be doing more, but don't. The things they don't have are excuses for the things they could. I've been to many old inns that install an elevator over time...glad I wasn't on the third floor, yet it was a good haul to the second. Think going down carpeted flights in your ski boots...but where's the shuttle? There is a Thai restaurant open for take out in the Inn which is good, but the entire inn smells like Thai food all the time. Ventilation maybe? You can get a shuttle schedule, but we gave up and drove after waiting an hour outside when the shuttle should have arrived twice in that time according to the schedule...who is paying for the lift tix? Not you, Sugarbush. "Deluxe" king room is a euphemism...nothing deluxe about it, maybe a couple of nice prints or ski maps on the wall wouldn't set you back too much? How about two chairs instead of one? Maybe a microwave? Thank goodness there is a mini-fridge. And you can't put ANY breakfast food out? Even packaged? Or coffee in the lobby? The place down the road has figured out a way to provide Covid free breakfast, and coffee urns, to boot! Someone has got to be thinking about whether your customers will want to come back, don't you think? I won't...too many other...
