Chez Henri was a great way to start the 2023 New Year - food was excellent and place was decorated nicely for the holidays- the staff was very knowledgeable and pleasant- Henri busy greet guests as usual - God Bless him at almost 96! Not sure what previous reviews a few years ago experienced but the experience was back for us. Dinner out now is always pricey but low to mid $30 entrees are not uncommon and for resort dining not out of line. Nice wine choices and a glass for only $10. So glad we went! Some might find the pace slow but it was an evening out with no place to go - so just like dining in France where you are there for the evening and just enjoying the experience - get a chance go relax and enjoy!

We first started coming to Waitsfield in 1987 or so. I don’t remember when we first started coming to Chez Henri, but it was a long time ago. A few things have changed. They’ve reduced the size of the dining room because of being short staffed and the bread being warmed by the fire, along with fireside seating is gone. But the overall character is unchanged. The food was excellent. The fondue is always so much fun. The mussels were excellent and our mains were perfectly prepared. My favorite has always been the crème brûlée. The texture is perfect. It’s home made all the way. We will always be back for more.

Great way again to start the New Year - dinner on New Year’s Day! They did change the format to a Price Fix menu - 4 courses for $80 and 5 courses for $120 - everything delicious - did the 4 courses- fondue for 4 - mussels or salmon followed by Chicken or Filet- they were out of the sea bass then choice of 3 desserts - 5 course had a “mystery” choice and some variations - Seating area was smaller due to staffing limitations but Bernard and staff made it a wonderful evening - no rush just 2 1/2 hours of dining experience

It's too bad this place didn't live up to all the wonderful reviews that brought my boyfriend and I into eat here on a Saturday night. I called in advance to make a reservation for 8pm, we showed up on time and weren't told why our tables weren't ready but just that they weren't ready yet and then waited to be sat at 8:40pm. I should've taken the hint. Not only were we suprised to see a pre fix menu when we finally were seated, but half of the dining area was closed with a large cloth placed in front of it, not the quaint French ambiance we expected to sit in either. We ordered from the newly launched prix fix dinner menu and were not served the fondue and bread dish until 30 minutes later. We waited longer and were then served the mussels dish, which was inedible, I received 3 mussels that weren't cooked and my boyfriend had 3 off/fishy mussels, we just hope he wasn't food poisoned by them. By 10pm we had had enough. With no acknowledgement to the fact that they were serving us our courses so late and spread out and no apologies or communication about any of it we felt like we were in the twilight zone. There were about 5 other tables around us whispering the same things, that they were fed up with waiting, the food wasn't good and they just wanted to leave and didn't want to even get their dessert. I don't write reviews like this ever, but I'm writing this because I wish someone else had and I had known not to eat here. Also, their new prix fix menu and smaller dining area apparently only launched two weeks ago, it would have been nice to be told that they were serving a prix fix menu only when I called and spoke to the host to make a reservation, this isn't printed on their menu on the website or anywhere. It seems like with all their changes, they aren't able to feed a smaller dining room of people efficiently with edible food and I would highly recommend avoiding taking any risks with this place. The host and waistress weren't apologetic either, real icing on the cake. Too bad all the restaurants close around here at 10pm, we missed our window of eating anything..I would give this place NO...

Food was good not amazing but good - and that’s something these days… problem is the chef refused to be accommodating in any way and sent the poor waiter out to deliver take it or leave it news after a simple request to have a fish prepared plainly. The words were literally “take it that way or order something else.” We are very understanding and would have been happy to hear what alternative the chef had but there was none. The owner was not present so maybe that had something to do with it. With so much difficulty in the world I’m truly disappointed that this is the attitude the chef has and that the establishment allows it. It definitely effected our experience greatly. The waiter clearly was embarrassed and felt bad so we made sure he was compensated accordingly. Steer clear if you have any dietary needs or...

If I could give 0 stars I would. A four-course Prix fix dinner and 1.5 hours into it my partner and I were served the second dish (mussels) which were terrible. (fishy - the couple at the table next to us confirmed theirs were bad as well). When we informed the manager that both the food and service was poor and that we’d just like to settle the bill for what we were served and leave, he ignored us and brought out our third course and tried to serve it to us. We insisted on leaving (we didn’t want to risk another bad fish). They insisted on charging us full price for one of the Prix course meals. I’ve never written a bad restaurant review, but this was such a terrible experience and the staff so generally rude, I feel...
