I just returned from a comfy stay at Springhill Suites by Marriott - Chicago - Warrenville/Naperville. We arrived on Monday and checked out on Wednesday. We arrived during the insane heatwave.||Checking in was a breeze. The room was under my friend as she was nice enough to let me tag along for her work trip. She worked while I played. There was an ice lemon water dispenser and coffee/tea station located right where Front Desk was. I highly recommend the ice water. So refreshing during the heatwave. The coffee/tea station even had honey, French vanilla creamer and organic sugar. ||This is not a tall hotel. We stayed on the top floor which was the 6th floor. Our room was originally 620 (as pictured). We had to switch to a room across the hall because our ac wasn’t working. It was probably because of the extreme heat. Maintenance came to help us out and he was a delight and so super helpful. The move was not difficult and the room was identical.||The room itself was comfortable once we got the ac working. Beds were comfy. Beddings were clean. A bonus was that the door for our new room was open upon arrival because they had just finished deep cleaning the carpet and they were letting it dry, so that was a plus. There was plenty of space for the two of us. The bathroom sink and vanity were located separate from the tub and toilet allowing us to get ready for our day while the other was showering. The hotel provided Alice + Co products, but since I have a strange paranoia of strangers tampering with those, I always bring my own products while travelling, so I cannot comment on the quality. ||The room had a nice space for seating and working. The wet bar with microwave and fridge was super handy. Perfect for long stays or heating up leftovers. The room also had a nice space for the standard closet, safe and ironing board combo.||The hotel provided complimentary breakfast every day. I did not partake as I travel on an empty stomach, but my friend grabbed a bagel and coffee in the morning. I’m sure it was a pretty standard breakfast spread. I didn’t take any pictures as I did not want to disturb people as they were enjoying their breakfasts. ||Unfortunately, I did not have any time to check out the indoor pool. I had brought all my swim stuff, but time escaped me.||I had asked Front Desk how to get to downtown Chicago from there as I had never used their transit before. He was very helpful and printed out a map for me with directions. For the day I ventured into Chicago, I got a ride in, but I did take transit back. It was super easy. I started at Chicago Union Station and followed the signs to the Metra trains. I bought a ticket from the machine. The platforms are very clear with a schedule by every door. Luckily, I got on an express train that skipped most of the stops and started up 3 before mine. To get back to the hotel, you need to get on the BNSF - Chicago to Aurora and get off at Naperville. From there, it’s a 7 min drive or 1hr-ish walk. I would have done it on a nicer day, but not during the heatwave.||Overall, we both enjoyed our stay. Honestly, the pictures available online do not do the place justice. We were picturing a danky place in a danky neighbourhood, but we got the total opposite. The area itself was a very nice suburban area just off the highway with gorgeous real estate not too far from it. Also, the hotel is clean and well-maintained. If you are visiting the Chicago area and don’t want to pay the Chicago prices, I highly recommend this location. ||Note - The hotel offers...
Read moreWe got block booking for rooms due to my mother's passing. So we had several rooms, everything went ok until we checked out and my son realized he lost his phone. We notified the front desk and asked for a phone call if the phone was found. The woman at the front desk says she couldn't guarantee a phone call, I said ok. My sister notified the sales liaison that we booked with about the incident, she in turn said that the phone had been found and that it would be available for pick up at anytime. Kirsten the sales liaison also notified me via email that it was there and that I could pick it up. I informed her that I work night shift and that I also live 2 hours away, so I wouldn't be able to come in to pick up the phone until Thursday. I did not go on Thursday and sent my son on Friday. We were told by the Assistant General manager Heath that someone with my last name came in to get the phone 2 days ago. Which was Wednesday. So im on the phone with my son and they tell him that there is nothing they can do, their cameras only work in real time so they cant pull the camera to see who it was and at this point we need to contact Warrenville Police department to file a police report for the phone they gave away. So we do contact the police department, I also contact corporate. I also spoke with Alison the General manager who was very rude and matter of fact about the situation and said they wouldn't be doing anything else with the matter and that I should contact the police. She also stated that they charged the phone so we would be able to find it. Which I thought was odd because I had been calling the phone and it was going to voicemail. Corporate decided to go with what Alison said and I still have not recovered my son's phone. Needless to say I will not ever stay at a Marriot Hotel again. Im sure it doesn't matter to this company because they have other customers but I will never...
Read moreThe staff were helpful, kind, and competent. Their service was excellent. The condition of the Hotel was not. My companion and I noticed as we retired to bed that the window was drafty. The window howled and whistled all night. That day was exceptionally windy and rainy so we decided to give the quality of the hotel the benefit of the doubt. The next day as we began our day we noticed that the clothes and items we had left near the window were soaking wet. Apparently, the window also had a leak that was dripping onto the window heating unit. This caused us to become concerned about safety and the possibility of an electrical fire. Something that could have very well happened while we slept; luckily for us our items absorbed any water that leaked in and could have created a dangerous situation. We had to do our best to dry the clothes that were my companions only outfit and not be late for the remainder of our plans that day. We notified the front desk about our problem and he was helpful saying he would notify maintenance. As we ate breakfast in the main lobby we noticed the ceiling was leaking in multiple places and in some cases dripping on other guests heads. Maintenance then roped off the leaking areas with caution tape. Obviously, leaks were not only a concern in our room but throughout this visibly decaying establishment. The breakfast area was unkempt and dirty. Burnt waffles sat in the (still on) waffle iron with multiple staff walking past it. My companion finally switched the iron off and another guest scraped out the burnt waffles to make it functional again. These events make me question the cleanliness, safety, and integrity of this location. For the reasons listed here I will not be returning to this location and hesitate to consider any other Marriott locations of...
