A conference that CLEE put on the past two days held their conference location here. I originally planned to stay at a hotel outside of the conference location for various reasons but considered the value and convenience of being right at the conference location. I could have chose anywhere, as my employer is reimbursing the rate. I booked twos night here in a standard room selection and because I booked so last minute, 2 queen rooms were available and no king rooms. My experience in the 2 night stay was just incredible. I live in NYS and work in Vermont and I did not know what to expect coming to Rhode Island. I find the room rates incredibly affordable especially for the experience you receive. The modern appearance and amenities set this hotel apart from others. I have traveled a lot throughout my life for personal and not too much for business and I would say I typically choose a Mid- level experience. Since I don’t know this area and had to reason to research it I am not sure what to expect for price and experience but I am beyond pleased. The modern fixtures and furniture and extra touches throughout make it feel really nice. I enjoyed the little pull out accent lighting on the headboard and the mirrors/lighting in the bath room. The furniture is not only very attractive but very comfortable. The bedding/mattress/pillows are the best I've ever slept in- I’ve been in many cruises, some all inclusive resorts and some resort and casinos. Rooms have enough space to move about and I really appreciate the attention to window covers that customize what might you let in or not and that you can completely block out all light effectively if you want. I enjoyed the coffee shop that was location in the crowne plaza… process great convenience and more than even providing Starbucks coffee and beverage options they even made me a Starbucks matcha latte which was a nice surprise. The food that was catered for the conference event was just astounding and really was a great perk and element of the conference experience. I’m picky and my expectations were surpassed once again: the restaurant the crossings… great food and variety of options - truly and the cocktail list was really great - just enough without being too overwhelming with the options. I also thoroughly enjoyed the service at the bar for food and drink. I had the same hard working team serve me all three nights and they were amazing. Friendly, speedy, accommodating in every way possible and I really felt like they knew me and what my needs were - doing exactly what I was thinking. The special - Thai cured curry mussels were incredible and I’m half inclined to get them again tomorrow before I leave for good for home. Same, for the Mezca-politan cocktail that I loved and got each night. A cosmopolitan made with mezcal tequila 😋. Brittany was one of the bartenders/servers and then a gentleman with a ponytail.. I only remember Brittany because her name matched mine otherwise I would have not recalled both names - for the record. The front desk staff were beyond accommodating and genuinely had a way of making you feel you mattered and that they were there for what you may need. I found the self serve convenience store very convenient - sweet snacks, WATER, ice cream and salty/crunchy snacks. Along with medicine options , was yet another perk I accessed and enjoyed. Had I remembered my swimsuit I would have utilized the pool and if I didn’t feel so relaxed I would have tried out the gym facilities. I also really enjoyed the option for live cable tv access … this was nice just to have something on in the background.
I felt right at home most of the time and very...
Read moreHands out the worst customer service and hospitality I have ever been a part of while traveling. Checked in for child’s travel sports tournament from out of state. On a Thursday parking lot far less than half full. First go to check in two rooms listed for one reservation. (Simple fix I’m sure happens but my family only required one room for three nights staying Thursday—Saturday.). Check in has gentleman at the desk promptly asks for credit card for $50 a day hold for incidentals, again no big deal common ask. I receive room key for large hotel and notice it’s in first floor. I ask anyway can have a high floor, gentleman states no we are fully booked. Again parking lot less than half full large hotel and it’s 3pm. I get to room realize it states on reservation print out that was made months ago a request for a high room. Never asked any preference when checked in. Again parking lot less than half full. I stop back at desk and state I have request written from reservation that was made several months back, I am now told instead of hotel room well that is only room ready. Again parking lot less than half full 3pm on a Thursday. I get to room realize we are also directly across hall from conference room of which conferences scheduled to be held and directly outside window tent for wedding venue of which a wedding also taking place during stay as told by bell hop in front. I then proceed to call front desk to voice displeasure stating I was never asked preference of which it’s clearly on my sheet you can see in photo, I was told two different things first being hotel full cannot grant and the second time other rooms aren’t ready, never was I asked if I would wait or preferences again 3pm Thursday parking lot less than half full. The gentleman then states if I’m unhappy I can check out and go find accommodations elsewhere. Now dispite this gentleman lacking any tyke of grace or customer services skills of the most basic standards, I am out of town with my wife and daughter also coming to stay of which one daughter has cerebral palsy and has difficulty settling into places that aren’t home or potentially noisey hence the request for a high floor. I was able to contact wife letting her now not to bring other daughter as the stay would prove difficult for her particularly given location of room and all that is happening in its proximity in this very large hotel that is currently at the most half empty on a Thursday. I say this as to simply say this gentleman of which I’ve used term very lightly is simply one of the worst human beings as demonstrated by his actions and lack of social grace or customer service skill set. I should also mention I asked for a manger and was told no there will not be a manger until Sunday. Hard to fathom given a very large Crowne Plaza and it’s Thursday at 3pm when request made. Unfortunately I am at the mercy of this gentleman and hotel being from out of state and not going to pay a hefty cancellation fee as we are here for a team event. But I would state emphatically stay clear if have prior choices as the poor customer service and careless attitude or willingness to make a simple change given the occupancy at the hotel on a three night stay speaks volumes for the service offered at this...
Read moreI stayed here March 22-24th for a conference that was held at the hotel. My first impression was great due to the wonderful front desk clerk. I do wish I could remember her name, but I was so tired from my early morning flights that I forgot to write it down. This young woman was so sweet and accommodating. Since I was super early for my check in, I got to the hotel a little before noon, I assumed I would have to wait for my room to be available. My initial plan was to just get some lunch and work in their office area while I waited for my room. But this angel was able to check me right in. I was so exhausted from my travels and had been up for over 24 due to my flight times and work schedule, this early check in was a god send. I was able to grab a bite to eat at the restaurant in the hotel, more on that in a second, and then get some much needed rest so I was ready for the conference the following day.
The room was perfect for what I needed. It was clean, bed was comfortable, plenty of extra pillows and I loved that I could stream my Netflix, Hulu, etc on their TV. The room smelled good, was not stuffy, overall was a good room.
The restaurant at the hotel was good. I ate there the entirety of my stay due to not getting a rental car and nothing was close enough to walk to safely. If I go to this conference again I will rent a car as this location is not walking friendly. It’s basically right off two interstates. The drink I had was delicious and all my meals were good. I especially liked the chocolate cheesecake and the margarita pizza. I ate at the restaurant once for lunch and the rest of the time I utilized room service. The Room service attendant was excellent and got to my room with my food super fast. They would tell me 30 to 40 minutes but he arrived usually within 20 minutes with hot food. He was very nice. All of the staff I encountered were all wonderful.
The conference center and events areas are massive. The rooms are decorated nicely and it’s a fabulous space for conferences. The event staff were also very friendly, helpful and accommodating.
Lastly this hotel offers a free shuttle service to and from the airport. I used that service going back to the airport. My flight was at 6am so I asked for a 3:30 am ride and it was no problem.
One other thing to point out is that this was a business trip paid for through my company’s travel department. We have a site that we book our flights, car rentals, and hotel stays through and the payment is processed with the company’s business credit card. I read a few reviews that said they had an issue when checking in because of the room being paid through their company but I had no issue at all. The check in process was easy breezy.
There was only one issue that I had but it was due to a guest that was intoxicated. I was woken up a little after 11pm to someone banging and messing with my door handle. A guest got drunk and forgot their room number. When I refused to open my door she began to beat on the door screaming until her husband emerged from the room across the way to get her. I should have called the front desk but I was so out of it when I was woken up I wasn’t thinking. It was definitely an...
