Reading the reviews of this hotel made sense when I engaged with this staff myself. Most of the staff is condescending with a horribly unprofessional culture of bad service WITH an attitude. I will begin with transparency, just as the General Manager Charles "Charlie" Ryan very directly told me when I checked in, "You [I] should have done better research to secure housing for all four of your animals." *I recommend Purrs and Paws for boarding furry family. They are GREAT! If you have more than 2 ESA's (with Dr's notes), Homewood will not accommodate you, AND they charge a pet fee for ESA's. I relocated from out of state for a new job, needing temporary housing until my new apartment was ready. I work in healthcare, and my employer paid for my stay for 35 nights. I was told after a 5 hour drive that I could not keep two of my four kitties with me. After I spoke with Mr. Ryan, pleading for accommodation, I felt totally defeated, unwelcome, and immediately regretted having accepted to stay at this hotel. Thankfully, I was quickly able to find a boarder, and my employer assured me I'd be reimbursed the boarding cost. I ended up stalled yet again to check in (after first driving to board my two kitties) because Felicia advised before I could check in, my employer needed to complete an authorization form to charge their card. My employer waited on hold for an hour a week before my check-in to do this step and ended up having to hang up. I had to give them my personal credit card until the authorization form was completed by my employer the next day. Regardless of the situation, policy or my poor research, and misunderstanding of RI law regarding ESA's, Mr. Ryan and his staff could have done more to accommodate a very frazzled new resident. NEXT I discovered, after 9 days into my stay, that I was sleeping on a mattress with two large urine stains. I didn't complain about not getting a fresh mattress protector 3 days into my stay, when I had to make my own bed because housekeeping is non-existent. I didn't complain because of the horrendous odor permeating throughout my room, from what was later discovered to be the pissy mattress. But when I returned to what should have been a fully cleaned room after work on day 9, NOTHING was done, let alone the making of my urine stained bed. No clean towels. Nothing. I was offered another less soiled mattress from a neighboring room, which I accepted. The odor was gone, at least. I had to make my own bed AGAIN and had to request clean towels (that took an hour to arrive as I was politely reprimanded by Felicia for putting the soiled ones in the hall after being told by Janice to put soiled sheets in the hall for collection after making my own bed the first time on day 3.) This is an example of the backhanded condescending attitude/culture of this establishment. Felica also said, "You'd better not be calling me with something else wrong, Nicole." In a haha joking way, but it wasn't funny or professional. Had they been doing their jobs, with their stank attitudes, I wouldn't have been "bothering" them. Suffice it to say I would never stay at this hotel again and my employer will not give them any more business. All events are documented, sent to Felicia's personal email to start (a Gmail account she provided and used to email my employer the authorization form.) After I discovered my first mattress to be covered in urine, she provided me her work email, telling me it was her personal email. She said she barely checked the first one. You can't make this stuff up. The staff hounded me weekly about my employers card declining. An issue that could have been handled directly with my employer. And a non-issue as it was the pre-authorized amounts being declined, not the final charges submitted for payment. I overlook less than stellar quality, IF effort and attitude of staff is sincere and people actually care. But how are you subpar AND have terrible attitudes? Don't bother replying, Mr. Charlie Ryan. Your culture won't change, and you're welcome in advance for my feedback.

A 100% Honest Detailed Review as of December 2023 I needed a place to hide away from all distractions for a few days to complete writing my latest marketing e-book, but I didn't want to be cooped up in a tiny hotel room. My goal was to be able to spread out, have a comfortable seating area, and bring in my own food to minimize trips out to focus on my writing. I decided upon a suite (separate living room/kitchen area and bedroom and considered all the options in the Providence/Warwick Green Airport area. After looking at all the options (and being a Hilton Honors member), I decided on Homewood Suites by Hilton Providence-Warwick. I did an extensive review of all the negative reviews, and almost didn't book, but I'm so glad that I ignored the negative people and went ahead and reserved. This is probably the best value I've ever made regarding hotels. First, if you investigate, you should be able to find a deal at around $110 per night. You could pay this for a regular room at any chain hotel, but you're getting a SUITE with a separate bedroom! Yes, the wooden furniture is a little dated, but it is in excellent condition and CLEAN, CLEAN, CLEAN. I checked every nook and cranny, every drawer, and every cabinet in the kitchen...no bugs of any kind and ALL spotless. The flooring in my suite seemed relatively new with LVP in the kitchen and carpeting in the living room and bedroom, and new tile in the bathroom. The seating all seems new and is spotless. The wall coverings are a combination of painted drywall and some upscale wall coverings in the kitchen and bathroom, and accent walls in the bedroom. Bed was super comfortable. I did not notice ANY unpleasant smells in the room, halls, or common areas. There is plenty of storage so your luggage is not sitting in the middle of the floor. Logging onto the Internet is a little funky. I was stuck in a loop until I put in my information to sign up for Hilton Honors. (Since I'm already a HH member I didn't need to sign up. However, when I put my info in it recognized that I was already a member and continued on without registering me again.) The Internet isn't blazing fast, but adequate for checking email, working on an online application, etc. Breakfast is free and there seems to be a good rotation of items every day. Different meats, omelettes one day, scrambled eggs the next, plus the usual staples. It's not gourmet, but a cut above most complimentary hotel breakfasts. The hotel itself is in a sort of remote business park, so there are no restaurants within walking distance. If you don't have a car here you'll be sort of stranded. (BTW, there is a $10 per night fee to park onsite. A little odd, but it's advertised.) Being off the beaten path puts it out of the main traffic flow and I think it makes for less "undesirables" hanging around. I felt safe and secure throughout my stay here. Since I had work that required concentration, a quiet environment was important to me. My room was near the elevator, and while I heard a bit of conversation occasionally or some walking overhead it was not obtrusive. Overall, I'd give it an A+ for quietness. Service was also top notch... on a par with any Hilton establishment. On my second day here, without any request by me, housekeeping came by to check if I needed anything, any cleaning service, towels... anything. I asked for some liquid dish soap and toilet paper, and received it on the spot. Overall, I have to say that I am completely impressed and would recommend this place to anyone considering it. The entire staff went over and above and the hotel is immaculate. Really, I don't think you can do better than this at any price! I feel like I really received a value here. And, yes, I finished my book, got it up online, and had some time to relax and enjoy the hot tub.

A 100% Honest Detailed Review as of December 2023

I needed a place to hide away from all distractions for a few days to complete writing my latest marketing e-book, but I didn't want to be cooped up in a tiny hotel room.

Save your money and go elsewhere

I booked this hotel last minute - VERY last minute... Almost at midnight for that night and the night after. I called the hotel and spoke to Lisa to verify that the room was available, and she was very helpful. We don't live far, but there were some issues with my water heater at home and we needed somewhere to stay. We've stayed at this property before, about a year and a half ago, and it was just ok. I thought things may have improved since then, but things have worsened. I checked in and got to the room. The furniture in the rooms is old, with some newer pieces like the living room ottoman and the bedroom headboard.

Bedroom The beds are very uncomfortable. The pillows are disappointing as well. The headboard is newer, along with the lamps, but the bed itself and the side tables are quite old. The TV remote didn't work. This hotel uses a bedskirt as the top sheet. I requested the bedding to be changed after the first night because of this, and I'm unsure if the bedding was changed at all. Whether it was or not, a bedskirt was still used as a top sheet.

Living Room The couch is a typical cheap hotel couch - you sink into it and it makes a lot of noises. It's very uncomfortable to sit on. The desk is old but functional, but there is nowhere for wired LAN connections for internet access.

Dining / Kitchen The freezer and fridge weren't dirty, but they weren't clean either. The silverware was clearly washed in the not-clean-looking dishwasher. The microwave was functional and it was nice to have a sink and a two-burner stove top as well. There is a table with two chairs to sit at to dine.

Bathroom Extremely outdated and in desperate need for updating. The most updated piece of the bathroom is the mirror. I did like that the barhroom had ample storage space (6 drawers). The toilet and tub are old. The tub/shower were not dirty, but not totally clean either. Some hairs and some dirt.

Room Overall The rooms are extremely damp. There is a clear moisture problem in the rooms and there is likely more mildew build up and presence besides the dishwasher. The towels in the bathroom are slightly moist to the touch, it's very gross. Walking around the hotel room in socks feels disgusting because the carpet feels wet everywhere. Some of the windows did not lock at all, which was unnerving being on the lowest floor.

My second night I approached the front desk and asked Cassie for a wifi code. I explained that my last name in my Hilton Honors account has a special character in it. My name does not work for the wifi login because of this, and properties will always offer a promotional code to use in lieu of a last name. There was no code for me to use at all so I had no wifi access during my stay. I came back to the front desk later on and asked for a bottle of water. I was told that because I got my two bottles upon check-in the day prior, I can't have any water and I'd have to buy a bottle for $3.

So what I learned from this property is that they don't recognize your Hilton Honors status - besides a print out on a sheet they display on your check-in day. The property also will not offer any workaround or promotional code for the wifi if it doesn't work or your last name is not eligible. And lastly, the one possibility to rectify and offer a kind gesture - a BOTTLE OF WATER - the hotel refused. Also, I believe parking is $10/night unless your stay is 5 nights or longer.

Lisa at the front desk was sweet, and Felicia assisted me in the Hilton app chat the morning of my second stay. They were both...
