My recent experience with the Newport Restaurant Group has been an absolute nightmare. My fiance and I booked the event space at Iron Works in Warwick, RI for our wedding several months ago, contract signed, deposit paid, invitations mailed and family members from out of state had already booked rooms at the adjacent hotel. We were then called by event manager Alejandra Nieves, just 3.5 weeks before our wedding, and informed that because the date was on a holiday, staff did not want to work it, and that they were going to be closing the restaurant that day and we would not be able to hold our wedding at the venue. The alternate options we were given were another location 45 minutes away with a lunch menu that consisted of lobster rolls and hamburgers, or a closer restaurant in Cranston, RI which had a seemingly lovely menu but which could not appropriately accommodate our party. We were forced to make the difficult decision to cancel our wedding and inform all guests just 3 weeks prior to the event due to NRGs gross negligence. Through this all I handled the situation with grace, having worked in the restaurant industry myself for nearly 20 years. The final frustrating straw is that we requested a refund and were told by the event coordinator that it had been processed on 6/10- now, 8 days later and we have still not been refunded. Rest assured I have informed all of my guests of how unreliable and unprofessional Newport Restaurant Group is and you have lost not just 1 but nearly 50 customers as a result of this...
Read moreI’m extremely disappointed in the customer service I received with the NRG. I was trying to book a private event for a small group of people and it was the most frustrating experience.
-I was told that I was going to have an option of which restaurant I wanted my event at and the next day that was taken away from me and I only had one option (which is fine, but I was asking for a contract to be sent to me from the start which was like pulling teeth). -I was then told I was going to have the room for 3 hours (8-11). Again, the next day (after asking for the contract yet again, I was told that I was only able to have it for 2 hours (5-7) and the price for the room was exactly the same even though I was loosing an hour. -When I found this to not be a fair practice, I tried calling my contact three times with voicemails, numerous emails and even tried contacting someone else to help me with my questions. It was radio silence the entire time. I only received a call back DAYS AFTER and by then my had contract expired. I was told I would get another one sent to me with an additional grace period day and still never received a new one. Honestly, this entire thing was such a waste of my time. I never write negative reviews but this was just so poor.
I love Newport and this experience put a bad taste in my mouth and we will not be visiting either of the sister restaurants. Poor...
Read moreWe the have really enjoyed many of your establishments. Can you PLEASE stop trying to upsell the trash water known as casamigos tequila? This has happened at 3 restaurants over the last few years. Please, at least try to upsell me something that is not riddled with disgusting added flavors and sweeteners. Maybe try Don Fulano, anything from nom 1579, or nom 1139. Even better... just don't even bother stocking celebrity tequila brands. They are just about all garbage that you should be too proud to stock and sell. You can make good margin on products that are not offensively terrible. Other than that, keep...
