So I got to the hotel on Saturday the 11th for my daughters birthday. Her actual birthday was Sunday the 12th. I booked the room for my daughter, myself, my 13 year old son, my 3 year old son. My sister called me the day off and asked me to watch her son for a few hours he is 8 years old. Check in is at 4 she was planning to pick him up at 7. I got to the hotel and tried to explain it to the lady and she told me I had to leave because the rooms only allow 5 people. I told her he wasnât staying and she continued to tell me how itâs not her problem itâs the rules. Which I understand. I asked if I could pay for the room to swim and then leave without even staying in the room. She told me no. No outside people are allowed in. she told me that I had to book another room in order to celebrate my daughters birthday there. Or leave the property without a refund. I asked her if it was ok to give a 13 and 8 year old their own hotel room and she said yes it was not a problem that they do it often. I wasnât comfortable with it but I was not telling my daughter or other kids who has been through a lot this year that we werenât celebrating her birthday because the room was non refundable. I ended calling my sister to just keep her son. I couldnât find were the room was. I asked several people and they would just point in a direction. One lady did tell me I was on the wrong side. It took us 25 minutes to find our rooms. We got to the room and their were bugs everywhere. I talked to several girls in the hotel and they said they would get someone to clean them. I was not making a scene or even mentioning the bugs to my kids because I knew they would lose it. There was hair in the bathtub and I had to clean it out and wipe it all down with shampoo and towels. When I asked the front desk for more soap and towels the lady said she didnât have any. She claimed to have put shampoo and conditioner on the counter for me but she never did and when I asked her about it she said you took it. The officer standing there never seen her put it up. So she put some on the counter with an attitude. I think once she realized she was being mean for no reason she gave me two towels. We went to the pool and man was that stressful. There is no employees in the pool area. Kids were piling up on the slide and all going down at once. Just landing on top of eachother. I seen adults going down and landing on kids and taking them under the water. Finally myself and another mom had to stand and watch and tell kids when to go down the slide because it was very unsafe. I have videos of that. My 3 year old didnât have his wrist band on and went into the rest room and one of the ladies from the hall way stopped him while I was standing there and asked him were his wrist band was. I had to go back into the room to get it. Which I understand they have to have them. I didnât completely understand what they were for when handed to me at check in. I was never told they have to have them on the whole time. There were only a few towels in the pool area. Only two of my kids got one. We had to walk in freezing cold stairways to get up to our rooms. There is no heat and barely any carpet in them. If you go to this place make sure to bring your own towels and pool towels!! Bring a blanket when leaving the pool if itâs winter time because your hair will freeze in the stair way. Also donât expect anyone to be polite. Also itâs ok to let kids have their own rooms. Please watch your children around the slide because it is complete chaos and gets to be unsafe quick. Donât expect the rooms to be clean because they do have a sign that says they are short staffed. So thatâs probably why everyone was so mean. This was the worst experience I ever had with a hotel. Not to mention we all woke up Sunday very sick. The smell was terrible. Iâm not sure itâd it was mold or not. I had to take the hallway plug in and put it in our room!! So please bring lots of hand sanitizer with you...
Read moreFirst time here with our kids and we had overall a really good experience. We decided to stay two nights because I didnât feel like my kids would be able to really enjoy all the amenities the hotel had plus the things to do near the hotel with a check in at 4pm and a check out at 11am. Very glad we stayed two nights because there was a lot to do and then also we went on a spring break week so the hotel was a full capacity. The first night we arrived we got to the pool about 5pm and it was definitely very packed but it was still fun for our kids, the next day was actually so much better and the kids were able to really enjoy their day because there wasnât a ton of people so we were there almost all day. I would recommend staying two nights so you can really enjoy the pool that second day after people check out and before the next crowd checks in. Our kids are 6, 2 and 1 so the little kids pool and the splash area were a big hit. My oldest loved the slide and the hot tubs were great too. There is tons of seating but itâs first come first serve. We made our kids wear water shoes because it was so slippery on the floors and the shoes helped so they didnât fall. The arcade room was great, the kids loved that, all games were either $1.00 or .50c. They offer breakfast in the morning which is nice because it comes with the price of your stay, it wasnât food we particularly cared for but there was tons of people down there who liked it. They had waffles (you have to make) cheese omelettes, eggs over hard, sausage links and patties, yogurts, cereals, hostess snacks, muffins, cheese sticks, milk, coffee and juice.
Onto our room - when we arrived it was very clean (thank you housekeeping) we had booked the room with two queen beds and it was spacious enough for the 5 of us, we asked for a crib for our 1 year old and even with that we still had enough room where the kids could run around the room and be crazy with each other! The shower was great, hot water and great pressure! We stayed on second floor and had a pool view room, heard some noise but it wasnât bad plus we had two fans that drowned out any noise when kids were sleeping. The kids loved being able to look out at the pool.
For food, we are at the Buckeye Express Diner next to the hotel up the hill (very expensive to us) but the food was very good. They had a cute little train the kids could play in outside and also a Little Rock pit with toys in it that the kids had fun playing in! It was a good experience and I recommend eating there. We got Dunkinâ Donuts for breakfast which is right in front of the hotel and they do have other fast food restaurants as well. We also ate at the Der Dutchman which is right next door to the hotel for dinner and had the buffet which was great food and it was very big and beautiful inside! Will definitely eat there again. In the late spring they open up their mini golf which we didnât get to do but itâs a great attraction right next door!
The only complaint for us was the front desk lady we spoke to on the first day and second day was not the most friendly but then on the third day at check out we told her how we really enjoyed our stay and she was very nice then and thanked us for coming. I totally understand you guys are a busy hotel and youâre very overwhelmed but please try to be more courteous and nice especially if we are friendly. The housekeepers were all very friendly, every time we walked past they told us to have a good day and they even let us borrow the vacuum so we could sweep our own room, lol!
Overall it was great and we will forsure be...
Read moreWe booked the night away as two moms who wanted to do something fun with our kids to end spring break.. We loved the town of Bellville and surrounding area, so many cute attractions and fun things to do. The pool was great for kids of all ages, game room was fun but not the cleanest (though that was expected in such a busy time for stays). Breakfast was delicious and had many great options! BUTâŚ. The check in was horrible. Only one of the two of us went in to check in-the other of us stayed with the kids (taking kids in and holding a baby while trying to check in doesnât sound fun) but the front desk staff (Keri) and guest services manager (Crystal Maglott) were horrible! They didnât handle check in like you would expect a hospitality clerk to handle it. They were very combative and repeatedly asking my sister questions about birthdates without giving her time to think/respond. (Understandably-It was my kids dates she fumbled on). When she couldnât answer quickly they got accusatory like she was trying to scam them. We booked a double queen room for 2 Adults 3 kids (5 people) and didnât include the babies in the count because it said on website under 2 didnât need passes. They stated we needed a second room because the babies put us over the count.. which my sister stated was fine we would pay for an additional room for our babies to sleep in đ but they were so unfriendly and aggressive with her. I had come in during all this with the kids cause it was taking so long I knew something was wrong. My sister was in tears-dealing with post partum anxiety/depression makes that quicker to happen-but absolutely unacceptable that occurred period! Never have I had so many issues and dirty glances while checking into a hotel room. How rediculous is it to have to pay for an extra room for babies that donât even take up a bed/space.. They claimed it was a fire regulation, k sure I get that. And we paid for the room, but had to fight for a adjoining room, for our party to stay together. The hotel didnât have locked side doors that would latch (fire/ safety issue). Their attitudes changed once I asked for a card and their names, helped us with out bags where my sisters coffee spilled on the floor (still on the floor sticky when we left next day). There was a Plastic bag on floor with broken 181 bottle in in and liquid all over floor with wet floor sign for a good 20 mins on the way to the pool (again safety issue with kids bare feet walking to pool). The clerk then had to stop us/come back up to our room twice to sign one room form then redo another room form cause they misplaced the first..
It was unfortunate the staff check in was so unpleasant as this hotel location was the perfect meeting ground for our two families and we would have loved to do visit more often, but the experience with the staff would make us rethink that idea. No hospitality worker should bring their clients to tears before even checking in. There was no compassion or understanding for her. And she was being respectful and obliging to the extra $240 room charge. She handled it much nicer than I would have. Room was decent for the price and there were cute notes from the housekeeping, but we did find a few things left behind from the...
