After hearing how good it was and reading great reviews we tried it out. The food was horrible, we brought most of it back for the chickens. My wife ordered the fajitas quesadilla (chicken). Out comes an oil soaked flour shell folded in half with mostly peppers, onions, some chopped up chicken and about a tablespoon or scorched oil oozing out of it, no kidding. She turned her plate sideways and the oil just oozed out of the folded over shell and made a big puddle on the edge of the plate. It had no flavor aside from the burned oil taste. The rice was flavorless and refried beans had the consistency of baby poop and no flavor at all. I ordered the seafood chimichangas and although the presentation looked really good they were 95 percent soft peppers and onions soaked in a red sauce with a very "odd" taste I didn't much care for. Trapped inside with the soft veggies were four or five tiny shrimp with a couple of pieces of overcooked imitation crab meat hiding among them. It was covered with a thick red sauce that tasted like chili powder mixed with tap water. The rice was grainy and had no flavor. I NEVER complain much and to date have never written one of these reviews but I had to make an exception here. My wife didn't even drink the Margarita it was so sour. We basically paid $55 for a Truth IPA (excellent) and a basket of chips that were so hard you had to be careful not to break your teeth on them. On the good side service was good, lots of folks coming by to check on us and very little wait time for food and drinks. The inside of the place is cozy and very low noise level so at least we could talk without screaming at each other. Sadly we woln't be back, WAY too much to fix. Just wanted to make sure others reading this don't order the dinner entrees that we did and hopefully you'll have a better...
Read moreThis restaurant is my new #1 pick for the greatest Mexican food location. I've left some pretty good reviews for other places over the years, but this place is my absolute new favorite. The food is by far the best, they can customize any order, something you don't like and they won't add it, something you want more of like extra queso on your food and they'll make it happen, the environment is very family friendly. The place is newly remodeled and has colorful beautiful artwork. A lot of thought went in to making this place very comfortable and inviting for all who decide to entertain the thought of eating at Ponchos Tacos. If you get to meet Margarito (one of the owners) he's a super good guy, he might make you laugh, but his attention to detail and making sure the customer is happy is his #1 priorties, it always has been. I could probably write pages of great things to say about Margarito and this awesome new restaurant, but you'll find out a lot easier by going there to see for yourself. Stay happy, be blessed and remember to love life and everything just...
Read moreWe were staying at a hotel nearby and stopped here for dinner because it was late and the reviews were so good. This place did not disappoint. Everyone was friendly and we received excellent service. We were attended to almost immediately and had a couple of people check in on us. You could tell it was a good place because the other diners were having such a good time as well.
Then the food, it was delicious. We're vegetarians and don't always expect the best results, but this place hit it on the head. The vegetable quesadilla was made perfectly. The vegetables were grilled and seasoned really well with lots of flavor. The rice and beans were also tasty. The vegetable burrito was grilled, not fried, and was tender with a very good sauce. They took the time to make the food flavorful instead of only covering it in cheese.
If we lived nearby we'd come here all the time. Do yourself a favor and stop by for more a meal and...
