Three Strikes. This hotel used to be a little gem. Unfortunately new ownership in the Fall of 2024 has transformed this place into an establishment we will no longer stay at. This was our third stay under the new ownership and probably 12 stays prior. First, we went to the front desk four times including check-in and only saw a sign saying “we are helping other guests” on three of those occasions. Though the young lady working was very polite. She did give us our preferred room which we always appreciate as we can back our SUV right up to the door. They were out of water (2nd time in the last 3 stays) and not recognized as an Elite BW member.
The fitness center is beautiful, but this time only dirty/used towels, no water and no cups. Someone, not sure if an employee or friend of an employee, hunted down a couple of towels for me. The Precor elliptical is great, but in need of maintenance as it makes very loud clunks.
The internet was only 14 Mbps which was a complaint from last January which made streaming not viable. The TV also was blurry which I complained about 10 months ago. Watching football was hard as the players’ numbers were not readable and the scores and times were only partially visible.
Breakfast used to be very nice. I assume in efforts to save money, you have to order eggs (only omelets available) and only a few donut holes and mini-bagels in the usual BW display. Juices were out of order. Pancakes were out of order. Other items readily available at our other BW stops were not available. Gladly the coffee machine worked.
We asked when the bar/restaurant would open and were told 5 pm. We went over at 6 and not open. We were told the employee did not show up. I thought part of the Best Western Plus designation was that you had to have an eating/drinking establishment.
Finally, this hotel’s parking lot used to be packed as was the breakfast and dinner hour. Not so anymore, so we must not be the only one’s who have noticed a huge change.
We have not left a Google review in the past as the new owner assured me these things (internet, TVs, and breakfast) would be addressed. That was nine months ago. Fortunately, our next stop at a BW in Moriarity NM was fantastic: huge room, great check-in experience, and nice breakfast. Oh, and we could watch both Direct TV clearly and stream our TV shows. No restaurant so no BW Plus designation, but a far better experience.
We will look at reviews from time to time to see if BW Weatherford shows improvement, but until then we will...
Read morePlease believe all the recent one star reviews. This place is not the 5 star place it used to be. I booked many months ago with American Airlines miles I had. The reviews were sparkling! Shortly before our trip, I looked up the address and saw a google review admonishing the place. I thought it was a one-off, so I changed the reviews page to most recent and saw several terrible reviews and that's when I started to get nervous. We showed up around 5pm on July 2nd and there was nobody to be found at the check-in desk or lobby. I walked around and called out for someone: no answer. I called the hotel: no answer. Finally, I walked around outside and found someone to help me. We checked in and went to dinner. When I came back, we finally got a good look at the room and my family was disgusted. The room was in disrepair and I couldn't even lock the door because it was so off kilter from being what looked like kicked in. I felt totally uncomfortable staying there. I could see light coming through the door top, side, and bottom. The a/c was running but the room was not cold. People were constantly smoking outside and the smoke was just coming right in through our a/c. After an hour and a half, we decided to just leave and find another hotel. I called the front desk and told the lady we wouldn't be staying. She said she would call the owner and ask if we could have a refund because of the issues we had encountered. She said she would call me back. I gave her my phone number but never heard from her or any of the hotel staff again. No refund of my miles. When we checked into our nice, clean hotel across town and told them where we had come from, the lady at that front desk echoed what the reviews of this hotel have said recently: new ownership and it has all gone down hill. She said they used to recommend people to this hotel when they were full, but they no longer do that. Take it from me- I wouldn't stay in this hotel for FREE. And if you decide to come and have an issue with your stay, it likely will not...
Read moreJUST BOOK IT, AMAZING! We cannot say enough great things about this property. First and foremost, the owners are there all the time, and tended to us like new/old friends for both stays in one week (yup, loved it enough to book for the return trip . . . more on that later). Most important, the entire property is incredibly clean, well kept and VERY safe (It's next door to the city's police complex). The rooms were immaculate. My wife commented that the shower was probably the cleanest she has ever seen in a property (and we travel often). And they think of everything! The shower had a small ledge built in a corner at about shin level to put your foot on to make it easier to clean legs and feet. That's a property owner solving a problem for you that you didn't know you had. That attention to detail is everywhere on the property. There is a small bar/restaurant on the property. We were tired, so just wandered the few steps from our room to it. Wow were we surprised. The menu is not extensive, but the food was excellent ad very inexpensive. One of the items, the flat bread pizza was so good that on our return trip we actually ordered one extra to put in our cooler for dinner when we returned home (and I just finished it here at home and it was excellent reheated!) But even more important is the included breakfast. Who makes you made to order eggs and omelets? Plus homemade breakfast tamales and biscuits and gravy! But need to once again say it comes down to owner. He was at the front desk each time we checked in (a week apart). The second time, when I approached the desk, he greeted me by name and welcomed me back. As I said earlier, we felt like we were returning to stay with...
