8/10 highly recommend!! Ask for Sam! If youāre looking for delicious food and a menu thatās simple yet has something for everyone, āThe Shedā, is where itās at!
Being from out of town itās hard to pick somewhere that you donāt know anything about. We looked at all the restaurants and read all the reviews. Thereās mixed reviews on all the restaurants around here. However, we wanted to pick somewhere that could potentially become our regular spot while in town. We are loyal patrons and when we find a place that is delicious and will accommodate our usual large group you get a good chance of earning our business indefinitely. My son got a call just before we had decided on āThe Shedā from his new head football coach, telling him to go and have the Buffalo Chicken Sandwich. Hereās the scoop! We arrived and were quickly greeted by a very nice gentleman. I requested a tall bar table and they were very kind to accommodate. Then we met Sam our AWESOME!! Waiter. We ordered a blue Moon, Sweet Tea and a water. Our drinks arrived in a timely manner in complimentary souvenir cups! How cool! To me that says a lot about an establishment. Thatās a direct thank you in advance for dining with us. Souvenir cups arenāt cheap to supply especially by a local business. We wanted to sample the menu so we could pass on recommendations for others. We started with the fried pickles. They were actual dill sandwich slices versus a pickle chip. They were paired with an excellent house made ranch dressing that was perfect and definitely not out of a bottle. The appetizer size was perfect and just the right amount. Based off the breading on the pickles and the ranch I knew we chose a great spot. We ordered the New York strip medium rare with green beans and a side salad. The steak was cooked to perfection and very nicely seasoned. It was one of the best steaks I have enjoyed in a while. The green beans were just like what I make at home so they must use some bacon grease and garlic, they were good! The side salad came out before my meal. It was a nice leafy romaine topped with shredded cheese and tomato. Perfect with the ranch dressing. Next was the buffalo chicken sandwich with French fries. This sandwich should have been called the big oleā Buffalo chicken! Nice thick lightly breaded chicken strips with melted Swiss cheese and Buffalo sauce on the bun. The sauce was the perfect flavor not to spicy at all. You can order the sandwich grilled or fried which is a great option. The French fries were perfectly seasoned and fried, fluffy on the inside and crispy til the last bite. Then there was the chicken fried steak. It was not a huge portion but enough to take leftovers if you wanted. It came with two sides like the steak. The chicken fried steak was well seasoned and breaded like the pickles & chicken tenders. For the sides it was, mashed potatoes and green beans. You already know about those beans, yum! The mashed potatoes were real red skinned mashed potatoes with possibly a little instant potato flakes but not much. It could have simply been the seasoning and maybe some sour cream in the mixture. Either way they were good and made well. The gravy for the CFS dinner was a traditional white gravy that may have been scratch made. It had good flavor and paired well. It didnāt give you the instant gravy feel right off the bat. Iām not a white gravy fan so if I choose to ever order this I would have it on the side. We finished everything and weāre perfectly satisfied with our meals. My 8/10 rating is because no one establishment/person is perfect. The entrance could be more inviting and clean with it being the beginning of spring. They definitely need to utilize that space during peak seasons in a college town. During the warm months and football season they better be ready for us to bring a big crowd especially after the games! Thereās TVās all over inside but not much music or sound. We waited a little longer than expected for our check and the gravy wasnāt spectacular. Overall you have earned our business...
Read moreUpdate. We visited this establishment again. It was better however not the greatest food once again. I had the chicken sandwich, and it was good but the guacamole was definitely not handmade. I recommend no guacamole if you order anything with in. Mashed potatoes were more like puréed potatoes. There was mo texture to them at all. My husband had the catfish which he actually liked, but all of our fries were fried along with the fish. 𤢠Nothing like fish tasting fries. Maybe a 3rd visit a year from now..
I expected way more out of this place. The service was great, the food was good and the place looks great. Drinks came out quick, appetizer came out quick and our main dish came out even faster. However, my onion rings were not good. They were over cooked, batter was paper thin and they just werenāt good. I am not sure if they just had a bad day or what but I could not make it home fast enough. My husband and I both had belly issues after we ate and I think we will not be visiting this place...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIt was $50 for two undrinkable drinks, cold canned chicken on a tortilla and raw battered mushrooms. This place has a great layout and a lot of potential but it was disappointing. It has good vibes, dark but inviting. There was only one table besides us on a Saturday evening which should have been a red flag... We ordered a margarita and they mixed the salt into the drink rather than putting it on the rim. Another drink was served in two parts so there was no way to drink it without spilling it all over the table. We ordered fried mushrooms and street tacos, the mushrooms were raw, and the tacos were made with what was obviously cold canned chicken with no seasoning. The service was okay... They spent most of the time in the back. Overall it was 50 dollars for two undrinkable drinks, canned chicken on a tortilla and raw battered mushrooms. Maybe it was just an off night but we won't be back, I think I may have food...
