I stayed at this hotel for work, and this is a really nice 3-star hotel owned by Marriott, but it had some issues that keep me from giving it a perfect score. It's not as great as other Marriotts, it's a lower tier Marriot, but compared to other hotels in the area, this 3-star place is a winner. First the pros, my room was nice, big and clean. I liked the two separate bath options, one for the toilet and one for the shower. The toilets, sink and shower all worked great. The room was nice enough, a minor musty smell, but not too much to fret about. The TV worked great, as did the remote. The TV also had a Netflix option which I LOVED! I was able to scan the bar code onto my phone and link my Netflix account into the hotel TV. They didn't have HBO or Cinemax, but that Netflix option was amazing! I believe you could also watch Hulu or Amazon Prime on these TVs too. Overall, I felt like this 3-star hotel delivered a 3 star quality room to me. The location is great, close to my work and close enough to Kemah and NASA, and really not that much of a drive to Galveston Island. There is a bar in the first-floor lobby, but I did not try it out, but it looked nice and cool enough. They have free complimentary breakfast in the morning starting at 6:30 am. Overall, I felt safe and secure in this hotel. Now to the negatives, I did have issues with the alarm clock in the room though, it was not working at all! I had to go to a Walgreens and buy my own alarm clock to wake me up in the morning for work, my iPhone 15 doesn't wake me up as well as previous iPhone models. The Wi-Fi in this hotel was a pain to get to work, I tried plugging my laptop into the ethernet connection in my room and that didn't work. So I did zoom calls on my phone using cellular service. I asked the front desk for help in that matter, and they didn't know what to do. That really sucked! The key card at this hotel deactivates if you keep it close to your phone, that was surprising because I have been to other 3 star hotels where the key card does not do that....that's usually a 2 star hotel problem. I didn't like that nobody cleaned up room during the day and I was not informed if there was an option for that. Also no room service. I'm not sure if these are post-pandemic issues, but I remember growing up and if I stayed at any 3 star hotel in the 80s, 90s, and even 2000s seemed to have room service and people cleaning your room during the day. Now it's either a staffing issue or who knows. After 2020, 3 star hotels tend to deliver service that is more 2 star hotel quality. You're paying this much money, they should clean the room and I sure do miss room service. You would think a Marriott would give room service, but nope, those are luxuries of the past reserved for expensive 4 or 5 star hotels. The breakfast in the morning was just OK, not good, not terrible, it's OK if you're hungry. Be warned, there will be a HUGE line for that free breakfast in the morning, especially if you are here on a Friday or weekend and families with multiple kids are lining up. There were limited seating options in that lobby area for breakfast, so people would leave and your only choice was to either try and take your breakfast up to your room or eat on a table with someone else cereal mess still there. If you luck out and have people that clean up after they are done eating, great, but otherwise the staff does not clean the tables during the breakfast time, at least that I saw. Overall this is a nice hotel, with minor nitpicks. I stayed in 3 different hotels for work in the Clear Lake/Webster area, and this was the best one. This is a good option for vacation too, to give you that...
Read moreHow disappointing. Normally a Hampton Inn traveler, but figured on a special occasion we would try something different. Big mistake. I should have backed out when initially trying to make a reservation. Tried requesting a room on an upper floor, but the reservation person couldn’t even tell me what rooms were actually open because they are separate from the hotel. Okay, so I call back to the hotel and the less than personable receptionist informs me that there will be 26 rooms available, but can still not guarantee that I will get what I am requesting. Fair enough, at least she was willing to guarantee me a place to sleep. Then when I get there, after all of the reservation chaos, she hadn’t even registered my reservation. Honestly I wasn’t surprised because of her mannerisms over the phone. I figured I would be at least booked for the exact opposite of my request, but no, just no booking of the room all together. Fun!!! So luckily I showed up close to the 3pm registration time and was able to get this all sorted, and the person who I spoke with over the phone turned out to be a trainee. No big deal, got my room, top floor, perfect!!! Nope, go up to my room and the first thing me and my wife see is the very noticeable white stain running down the front of the black sofa cushion. Yuck! Wishing I had taken a picture to post. Unmistakably the remnants of some immature individuals fun night. Power through, try not to think about it, and STAY OFF THE COUCH. Make it through the night, go down to get breakfast, and honestly was expecting something amazing I guess, for the price of this room $159, I figured they would at least compare to some of the lesser hotels we have stayed at. No, not even close. The eggs were straight out of the box, no meat in sight, other than in the gravy ( which tasted like pinesol), no waffles, not much at all. I gave you these two stars for two reasons, the view from the top floor was nice, and your interior decor is appealing. Other than those two things, your hotel is comparable to your run of the mill highway motel. Ohh yea, the pool looked to be smaller than the floor space in the hotel room. With 6 floors of people, how many folks do you think will actually be able to enjoy that pool? We were going to try, but the cigarette smoking drunks from the hotel “bar” area did not really make for an inviting scene. Hope this review helps people know what they are getting, because it certainly isn’t...
Read moreThis is the unique experience; the first in 1000-plus hotel stays -time, worldwide. We stayed there for one night because it was too convenient to start our trip. We do tolerated some misgivings; nobody is perfect. The room did not have the usual supply of mini-notebook and a pencil; perhaps ok due to the COVOI, Then the desk chair was broken and I almost feel on the floor; then, a bed light did not work. and before we left for our dinner, we already had one in the microwave prepared for us. It was not our dinner. it was a leftover from earlier guests. The night was ok. The next morning when I got up I noticed several strange spots on the bed sheet. several those; the sheet was to be clean, it was not. So I took it down to the desk and showed it to the attending person and asked what it was, It looked like a human semen. The from desk attendant t wanted to take the sheet away from it ; I told him NO and took a couple os pictures of that. There were a couple of guests leaving so I asked them for their opinion. I got no answer just a smirk and an embarrassing, prudish look.. The front desk attendant did not like me showing the soiled sheet and stated that I should leave. I responded that I would not and asked him to call 911 because I just became curious how police will describe the alleged human semen in the report. The attended did pick up the phone but instead of police two housekeeping attendants showed up and one of them told me that they would provide me with a clean sheet. My responses was NO, we are checking out and they left back into their workplace. We could have laughed it off and joked about it. But the arrogance the hotel staff showed let me write this report. The staff also had no name tags. When I paid my bill I asked the front desk for his name. He did not have card on himself and stepped back and returned with a single specimen, His card said Mr.Marcus Ramirez; the same name and card which was in display on the front desk. ||||This hotel offers free breakfast. However after so many misgiving, arrogance and lies we did not take any. The breakfast staff was also nameless and us leaving on vacation we did want to take a risk just in case something could happen. Our experience strongly suggests that there could...
