We have always loved our stays here at Lafayette Oceanfront over the last 29 years(always staying on the 2nd floor of the deluxe building). This year we opted to try out one of the fireplace rooms (room 109) and what a great disappointment. THIS REVIEW IS MAINLY FOR ROOM 109 (a fireplace room). The room appeared to be much larger in the photos. The ceramic tile floor never warmed up even with the heat cranked and the fireplace on. FIRST; I would remove the massager chair and replace it with another arm chair. It was just the 2 of us and we wanted to look out at the ocean in comfy chairs but this was not possible with only one arm chair (the desk chair was not comfortable and the metal folding chair was used to keep our shoes off the cold floor). We didn’t mind the bathroom being so small compared to other rooms. The only dresser to place clothing in was approx 2’wide by 3’ tall and the drawers were just 5-6” deep. Not very accommodating for winter clothing but maybe fine for one day in the summer. RELAX…a little difficult with the sound of the elevator and being near an entry way plus it seemed like whenever ANYONE flushed, ran water or a shower, all we could hear was the water draining. Lesson learned…ask more questions when booking. And then there was this charge on the bill for $1 for phone fee🤷‍♀️. This stay will NOT deter us on future stays as we continue to love Lafayette Oceanfront.

Absolutely unprofessional place. We have a 15 month old now walking to which we left diper in bag outside of rear balcony to not stench the room. This was during spring break and lots of children where there staff had explained to us there where lots of kids and running around as well. The manager is an old mean lady who treats her workers poorly. We have rented from them for years and have had quite a few employees tell us how bad of a women she was. Just the integrity of this letter should have people know this is a very low class old motel. They aren’t making a lot of money the place is poorly kept thin walls creaky stairs definitely in the winter I would reccomend staying away as attitudes are very miserable and rude! We had an in person conversation with the manager herself who wrote the letter but past it down to her assistant and took a while to get her out of her closet which is super trashy , to come speak with us as we were in disbelief. Stay clear ! Wells had much better class than this. We stay at hotels all the time for outings everyone is kind to our child. This place has thin walls it’s gross we left the room the same way the left of the place looks and got kicked out ! lol

Lafayettes is a hotel of my childhood -relatively basic hotel accommodation with access to wells beach, parking is available for guests in smaller lots-it is nice if you have reason to need the rooms right on the water (handicap access or older relatives) A beach of my childhood- the very cold, very rough waters and weather of the North Atlantic provide an atmosphere for this beach that even during peak season can lend one to feel the power and rawness of the North Atlantic ….visit in October and November, it’s worlds away in similarity to the southern Atlantic beaches of the United States. There is a small public parking lot near the beach itself and during off season is not too difficult to secure a spot. During peak season, if you aren’t here early in the morning, take the trolley you won’t find easy access parking sometimes even with handicap plaques. Lots of smaller places along the water, The kids’ enjoy the beach

My family and I stayed at the Ledge Lane house on our yearly Wells Beach vacation. We didn’t stay last year because of COVID. All of us were looking forward to the best vacation ever. We love Wells. We have been staying at Lafayette’s for 20 plus years. Either the rooms or the houses. Every stay with Lafayette’s we have ALWAYS used the amenities provided by the hotel. Including the patio deck where they provide beach chairs for the patio. Normally when the tide is in we relax on the patio in the chairs and wait to go back onto the beach. Staying at the house we do is $6,000 plus some. So we expect to be able to use all of the amenities provided. A couple of days into the trip a parking lot attendant came over to my family and I, got right into our faces, asked us where we are staying and said you can’t be here. You can’t be on the patio only a certain selection of rooms can be. Rude, in our faces, confrontational. We couldn’t believe the way we were being spoken to. We explained every time we stay at the houses booked thru Lafayette’s we have always used the patio. This extremely rude woman said nope it changed, you need to move. You can’t be here anymore. Mind you this was our 3rd day into our week long vacation. Why didn’t anyone tell us during booking or when we arrived at Lafayette’s to check in? How can they expect guests who come year after year to just assume they can no longer use the patio when NO ONE told us. It completely put a damper on our trip. Just the rudeness of this woman was appalling. The next day we stayed on the beach, the day after it was raining so we went shopping. One of our last couple days it’s gorgeous out but high tide is in around noon. We put our stuff up top and went down to the water but it’s rocky, the tide is the furthest in so we went up to the patio to wait it out. This woman and now man came up to us on the patio. Asked us where we are staying again even though they already knew. Got into our faces, pointed her finger and raised her voice at myself, my husband and mom. It’s appalling the treatment we have received on this vacation. I said the ride is in, we are just waiting it out, it’s gorgeous out we just want to be by the water. No one is on the patio at this point, besides us! What difference does it make?! We are literally staying with Lafayette’s Oceanfront!! And then they took our PICTURES! Like we are criminals trespassing on their property! This has been the WORST STAY ever at Lafayette’s we have ever experienced. The parking attendant has been gossiping with an couple that is also staying at Lafayette’s. Her name is Karen (yeah ironic) and is equally as rude as the parking attendant. Every time we walk by where she is “guarding” this group is talking about us, staring at us and at one point my sister heard them say “we need to be kicked out”. How unenjoyable they have made this trip for my family and I. Unprofessional, rude, nasty. This treatment is unacceptable and NO ONE has apologized to myself or my family for their actions. Be aware! If you book the houses, they won’t tell you the rules have changed for the prop but they have! Save your money and book a different house...

We have been staying at Lafayettes two to three times a year for more than twenty years (with the exception of 2020 when we only stayed once thanks to the pandemic), we love the location, the quality of the rooms varies depending on the building but generally we enjoy our stay. This year we took the entire family and rented one of their vacation homes, One Particular Harbor, for the week (last week) and we were not happy. Our week began with a small flood in the kitchen due to a leak in the island sink, an air conditioner and ceiling fan in the master bedroom that did not work and a half eaten pizza under one of the beds and used plasticware under a couch. It took two days and two calls to get a response from maintenance. We also then found out that the handles for the crank out windows were stripped so no opening and closing windows, the house is described as partially air conditioned which means there is a small window air conditioner in the three bedrooms, so opening and closing windows became an issue on the hotter days. We had planned on eating most of our meals at the house to avoid too many public spaces (member of the family is a chef) but quickly found that the stove did not work properly, especially the oven which barely worked at all. And finally we had to pay for extra parking as we had family coming and going at various times during the week, this was not an issue as we expected this. When obtaining the cards for the overflow parking I was told that when the cards were returned the $25 deposit for the card would be returned. I collected all of the cards and returned them to the office on the day we left and was told 'no refund' since the card was not returned on the day the family members left (one paid for five days and only stayed three but I was certainly not expecting a refund for that, just a return of the deposit). I explained to the desk clerk that no one had told me that and got the classic 'I will pass that along' response. Needless to say this ended the week on a vary sour note.

Based on location alone I know Lafayettes has no problem filling their rooms and will continue to do so for many years but I strongly suggest that anyone considering a vacation home rental may want to think twice. Between the rental, fees, taxes and parking we spent about $8,500 and were extremely...
