Was a guest at this hotel occupying 2 rooms for approximately 36 nights. Had a number of concerns and was very unhappy with the overall experience. Garbage disposal backed up & it was reported multiple times before it was fixed. The odor was pretty bad. Had no hot water for over half of the stay, then only about 5 minute showers for the duration. Reported this issue multiple times and was told that the plumbing at the hotel needed to be fixed and that they have several rooms that experience issues with hot water. I was told to run every faucet in the room up to 15 minutes before wanting to take a shower and even during the time of taking a shower in order to get more hot water. On multiple occasions, housekeeping would enter even though we had the do not disturb on the door or they would not enter when we did not have it. We continuously had to request additional towels and supplies as those things were never replenished regularly or without request. Finally, towards the end of this stay, we were wrongfully charged on our personal credit card for what should’ve been billed to our insurance company. This mistake us to be overdrawn in our checking account by several hundred dollars. It also cost us a major loss due to the issuing unresolved in a timely manner. The site manager did not return phone calls as promised, then after dealing with the assistant site manager, and being assured that the situation was taking control of it was still not remedied and has drug out over a week. We have sent multiple emails left multiple messages and reached out to Marriott Bonvoy and Marriott corporate several times to receive no other offer but some Bonvoy points that don’t even equivalent to the amount that would’ve been earned for our stay. Even after requesting to speak to a district/regional manager over 10 times I have yet to receive communication. Over $10,000 was spent with this hotel during our stay and it is very sad that this is the response and the treatment we are given from the management. We were already staying in the hotel due to losing our home in a flood, and the lack of empathy and customer service has been very...
Read moreAwesome Location and Wonderful hotel. One of the better Residence Inn's I have stayed in (my default first choice when traveling). An honest review would be 4.5 stars. But did not have that as an option.
Wife and I were in the area to hit the normal attractions (Busch Gardens, Aquarium, Riverwalk, etc). Everything is within 30 mins and light traffic on the routes.
Plan to stay here every time I return to Tampa. Loved our stay!
TIP: Hillsborough State Park is a short drive away from the hotel. We hit it on the way home and it turned out to be one of our favorite activities. Do the Rapid River trail. Short easy trail to walk. Love our State Parks in Florida!
Pros: Excellent Service. I was greeted warmly when I arrived and quick to respond to my calls. Always said hello when I walked by the front desk (unless checking some one in). Hotel is very nice and clean. One heads up - the beds are on the firm side. Personally, I love a firm bed. Far enough away from attractions to avoid traffic but close enough to be a short drive. Wesley Chapel is a VERY nice area. Plenty of places to eat close by.
Cons: (all minor to us) The TV's at the hotel do not allow you to connect your own device into the TV. For example - I travel with an Amazon Firestick. I plugged it into HDMI 2, but there is no way to SWITCH to HDMI 2 on the remote OR the TV itself. I called the front desk for service. Someone was there in 5 mins. He confirmed that was by design\policy. I did try plugging my Firestick into HDMI 1 (replacing the hotel connection). Worked but VOLUME was at 100% and no way to change. I did eventually find an option under the "streaming" TV menu. But it did not work either. Hopefully this is a policy the hotel reconsiders. Breakfast. We tried the first morning. Your typical "American breakfast" at a hotel. The staff was incredibly nice, but food was not good. There is a nice KeKe's right down the road - so we just ate...
Read moreThis is a nice clean, likely pretty new hotel. The accommodations were very nice with a decent kitchen arrangement. I would have rated this place higher but they have a bit of an annoying arrangement with the lighting in the unit. You have to put your room key in an electronic receptacle on the wall by the door before the lights will work. If you take the key out of the receptacle, the lights go out several seconds later, very annoying. For what you pay for these rooms and the fact most places use LED lighting, I felt this was a tacky way to save a few bucks off of the electric bill. There is no door on the shower which makes it very cold while taking a shower. Water seeps out of the shower and pools on the floor making it necessary to use several of your towels in keeping the floor dry. We have seen similar observations noted by others concerning the shower. The main, if not the only, air conditioning vent blows right on your face while laying in bed. I was glad the air worked, but it was extremely cold laying in bed with the cold air constantly in your face. One thing I didn't know when we booked this room was that it is partnered with a Sports arena right next door that holds weekly kids sporting tournaments. Every weekend that there is a sporting event, the whole placed is booked with families and kids. Lots of large SUV vehicles, trucks, and trailers in the lot making parking somewhat difficult. That being the case, if you plan on participating in the morning breakfast, get there early or it will be sparce. I couldn't find anything that looked appealing that was left after the horde of families and kids plundered the place. My wife has Celiac and usually can't each much at these types of breakfast offerings. All her "go to" things like the fresh fruit and yogurt were all gone. It's not a bad place, I can't say however that I would stay there again if...
