There was much ordinary, easy to perform maintenance needed that would greatly improve this score. The armoire has one door falling off - two busted hinges. The sink lacked a stopper. The control-facet panel of the shower was neglected showing rust and mold. The exterior of the shower along the floor line needed to be trimmed or at least caulked with fresh white caulk. Both the shampoo and condition dispensers were empty. Maybe 2 hours work tops to complete it all. I brought all these concerns with pictures to the front desk person Tom. The front desk staff was really good and Tom especially is easy to talk to. These maintenance items would really help their scores, I know every Choice hotel get ls a scoring report but it’s up to the management yo get things done. The refrigerator lack a temperature control. The TV small by today’s standards. The breakfast was lacking many of the food choices of what we have come to expect from hotels in the choice family. No eggs, bacon or potatoes. The waffles were good and there was the usual yogurt, fruit, bread, bagels and muffins so you could get a start on your day. The breakfast area was one of the smallest. Room positives included new carpeting, good beds and bedding and mostly clean except for what I previously mentioned. I checked the reviews for the other area choice hotels and this was supposed to be the best. Even the front desk said they wouldn’t themselves stay in the other area Sleep Inns. I woukd consider stay big here again but will explore other choices on our route through Columbia. We are regular travelers by road and depend on a good stay at then of our day. I wouldn’t discourage anyone from staying there if they first check out the room. The REAL disappointment is we were not offered any ROOM DISCOUNT or added points to make up for the detracting issues. The room was a bit overpriced considering all I have noted here. I write reviews especially noting our positive experiences so other may decide. I’m not out to hammer on a place just to be negative. I have photos of ALL my detracting comments. Again, the staff was fine but this...

Read moreI picked this place because of the 4 star reviews. Once I was at the actual hotel, I knew this place was not. The hotel host was very nice and polite and checking in wss piece of cake. And everything went downhill once I got into our room. The room was completely filled with smoke. Obvisously, all the "no smoking" signs all around the hotel were useless. I immediately went back to exchange room. Piece of cake again. Now instead of taking the elevator, I decided to take the stairs. I noticed they had old air conditioners stored in the stairwells and I'm thinking they just replaced them. Wrong!!! I get to my new room and it looks and smelled so much better. I went to turn on the AC and noticed it has knobs for everything like setting the fan, cool and heat. It was filthy with dust cakes. GROSS!!! Luckily, I only had to touch the knobs to turn it on. Now I know why they kept the old AC. I got settled in and went to bed at 11pm. I woke up at 2am with a headache and the whole room was filled with smoke. Where did all this smoke came from? I shut off the AC and tried to go back to bed. No help as I was still smelling smoke. I could even smell some kind of weed too. Now after an hour, I still couldn't fall back asleep. I got a great idea and open one of the coffee package and put it near my nose. That worked but now I'm starting to get hyper. I had to use the bathroom and this is where the source of the smoke was coming from. The vent fan was reeking with smoke and it completely filled the bathroom. The smell inside the bathroom was 10 times stronger than the room. Then another light went off in my head. Hey I can just turn on the vent fan and let it suck the smoke out. Sure enough after 30 minutes, the room was breathable again. I gave it one star for the host and they had super bright lights for the...
