I really hate to leave this review but I feel I must pass this along. When I’m booking hotels I rely on the reviews and read so many of them before making a selection, sadly the reviews for this place led me astray. When walking in there is not a clean smell to this hotel & usually that’s a dead giveaway for what our stay will be like and it was. Before I start though I will say that Beth was very pleasant checking us in & I appreciate her customer service. The hallways are dark leading to the rooms upon entering the room I realized I had made a mistake booking almost immediately after unpacking I killed a roach. To me bugs are unacceptable. Being that my two kids were with me and I didn’t want to freak them out about the roach I kept it to myself knowing that if we moved rooms there would likely be bugs there also. Fast forward to shower time, I was bathing and the lights in the bathroom went out and would not turn on nor could I use the outlets by the sink. The button on the outlet to reset the outlet crumbled when I tried to press it so we had to take our phones in the bathroom to use our phone flashlights for lighting. The beds were advertised as queen but the were not I sleep on a queen every night at home. What sold me on the room was reviews about great breakfast. Breakfast was trash. You had to make your own waffle or get a bagel (stale) the yogurt was spoiled as well. There was no meat and nothing cooked for you had I known this I 100% would have stayed somewhere else my kids look forward to continental breakfast when traveling. I won’t recommend this place and I won’t return. I’ve posted pictures of the “breakfast” we were served at $121 a night it doesn’t seem right!

I'm never staying here again. Our statewide veterans' convention is next door, and to save some money, some of us often get rooms here. Therefore, it seems like they would get the place extra clean. I stayed here about 11 years ago, and it was quite comfortable. This time, I'm trying to find a friend to let me take a shower at their place. This is ridiculous. There is [visible] hair around the (very small) shower. There is hair UP ON THE WALL. I half woke up and there was a person in my room...the person didn't say anything but I assume she left the bag of towels...both trash cans are still mostly full of my soda bottles from last night, and she didn't replace the box of tissue I used, she didnt vacuum because I just took the picture of the old hair pin on the floor, so other than drop off the trash bag of linens, what did she do? I'm hesitant to use their linen, because even if I have to shower here, I don't want them to miscount and charge me for a missing washcloth (so I'm going across the street to Hamrick's to get my own linen). I'm a Choice member and reserved the room through their website. What in the world???

I will say the bed was comfortable and we had a good night's sleep. The breakfast was adequate. However we did have a couple of issues during our 1 night stay. The toilet seat had not been cleaned and was covered in pee and fuzz when we arrived at 11:30pm. We had to clean it ourselves with tissues and shampoo. I called and told the front desk and she said "I'm sorry, I'll let housekeeping know" which does nothing to help me. Other than the disgust of having to clean it, it also let us know what kind of gross, disorderly human had been staying there before us which casts a bad light on the room stay overall. When we went to leave around 9am there was a US Foods delivery truck blocking us and 2 other cars in our parking spot. We could see at least 3 other areas he could have parked that would not have blocked anyone. When we went in and asked how long he would be he said 15 minutes instead of coming out and moving. So we had to sit and wait 15 mins for him to finish his delivery.

There was much ordinary, easy to perform maintenance needed that would greatly improve this score. The armoire has one door falling off - two busted hinges. The sink lacked a stopper. The control-facet panel of the shower was neglected showing rust and mold. The exterior of the shower along the floor line needed to be trimmed or at least caulked with fresh white caulk. Both the shampoo and condition dispensers were empty. Maybe 2 hours work tops to complete it all. I brought all these concerns with pictures to the front desk person Tom. The front desk staff was really good and Tom especially is easy to talk to. These maintenance items would really help their scores, I know every Choice hotel get ls a scoring report but it’s up to the management yo get things done. The refrigerator lack a temperature control. The TV small by today’s standards. The breakfast was lacking many of the food choices of what we have come to expect from hotels in the choice family. No eggs, bacon or potatoes. The waffles were good and there was the usual yogurt, fruit, bread, bagels and muffins so you could get a start on your day. The breakfast area was one of the smallest. Room positives included new carpeting, good beds and bedding and mostly clean except for what I previously mentioned. I checked the reviews for the other area choice hotels and this was supposed to be the best. Even the front desk said they wouldn’t themselves stay in the other area Sleep Inns. I woukd consider stay big here again but will explore other choices on our route through Columbia. We are regular travelers by road and depend on a good stay at then of our day. I wouldn’t discourage anyone from staying there if they first check out the room. The REAL disappointment is we were not offered any ROOM DISCOUNT or added points to make up for the detracting issues. The room was a bit overpriced considering all I have noted here. I write reviews especially noting our positive experiences so other may decide. I’m not out to hammer on a place just to be negative. I have photos of ALL my detracting comments. Again, the staff was fine but this...

I picked this place because of the 4 star reviews. Once I was at the actual hotel, I knew this place was not. The hotel host was very nice and polite and checking in wss piece of cake. And everything went downhill once I got into our room. The room was completely filled with smoke. Obvisously, all the "no smoking" signs all around the hotel were useless. I immediately went back to exchange room. Piece of cake again. Now instead of taking the elevator, I decided to take the stairs. I noticed they had old air conditioners stored in the stairwells and I'm thinking they just replaced them. Wrong!!! I get to my new room and it looks and smelled so much better. I went to turn on the AC and noticed it has knobs for everything like setting the fan, cool and heat. It was filthy with dust cakes. GROSS!!! Luckily, I only had to touch the knobs to turn it on. Now I know why they kept the old AC. I got settled in and went to bed at 11pm. I woke up at 2am with a headache and the whole room was filled with smoke. Where did all this smoke came from? I shut off the AC and tried to go back to bed. No help as I was still smelling smoke. I could even smell some kind of weed too. Now after an hour, I still couldn't fall back asleep. I got a great idea and open one of the coffee package and put it near my nose. That worked but now I'm starting to get hyper. I had to use the bathroom and this is where the source of the smoke was coming from. The vent fan was reeking with smoke and it completely filled the bathroom. The smell inside the bathroom was 10 times stronger than the room. Then another light went off in my head. Hey I can just turn on the vent fan and let it suck the smoke out. Sure enough after 30 minutes, the room was breathable again. I gave it one star for the host and they had super bright lights for the...
