I was given the wrong room when I first got there and the manager seemed to be confused that there was someone in that room, which should have been the red flag for me to leave. It is a non-smoking facility, but people definitley smoke there, which I guess is expected for cheaper hotels, it was funny when I got off the elevator for that first room there was a fresh pack of rillos on the floor. Anyway the new room was not clean, there was a rag still on the floor, but I chalked it up to it needing to be a rushed job, so I cleaned the room anyway because I had cleaning supplies for situations like this and moved on. I'm only there for two nights for work and it's what I get for a last minute booking due to my travel authorization timeline. Then after I cleaned the room, I left to do work for a few hours, came back and did all of the saftey hacks I found on tick tok because the hotel obviosly struggled with security if the management didn't know what rooms were occupied or not. And once I was ready for bed at around 11pm I noticed two things, the side of the bed was completely dented, like the wear that comes from someone large sleeping there on a daily basis, and that the sheets were dirty and even had little hairs in them (looked like pubes). I called the front desk for new sheets and I was told that I should have checked everything from the start because the laundry is now closed. So that was the last straw and I decided I would leave because I could not sleep here! I get that it is a cheaper hotel, and I did not expect 5 star treatment but I expected the space to be clean and safe which were two things I did not find. I turned in my keys at about 12am. I asked about paying for that night and getting a refund for the second night that I would not be staying for and the boy said I needed to come back the next day or call because the manager is the only one that could process refunds. I said okay and then stood there for a minute waiting for any more information as the boy was clicking away at the computer (I assumed he was checking me out), after a while I asked if there was anything else he needed from me, any next steps and if there was some form of written confirmation that I could get and he said all he could provide was a reciept , which he printed for me. I left and checked into my new hotel at 12:32am. I call after work at like 4:30 the next day to make sure that the manager is there so I don't waste time going in person if he isn't there. The manager answers, immediatley gives me attitude about the situation because it was after the 11am check out time and how is he supposed to know that I wasn't still in his hotel since I didnt check out, oh and that I was confused because I started off giving him the number of the wrong room (the first room that he gave me that was occupied), giving the impression that this mistake on my end made my issue lose its credibility. Which is crazy because I definitley left the night before, and turned in BOTH keys (check your cameras?), and in general why don't you know who is in your hotel??? BIG RED FLAG. In the end he said it wasn't his problem that I didn't know that I needed to contact him at 11am that day because that is check out time. I didn't realize that me hadning in my keys and getting a reciept didn't mean that I was checked out. I wasn't told when I left that I was supposed to contact at a specific time about a refund, despite my asking about more information about this process. I called corporate after that interaction to figure out a refund for the whole amount and they said they would figure it out after 3 days of giving the hotel time to manage the issue on their own. So if you want to stay here, remember your cleaning supplies, make sure to do all the saftey things you normally do and then add three more, and also make sure to check if your linnens are clean because that's under lock and key at some...
Read moreAbsolutely horrible customer service. I notified Priceline to stop using this hotel. The hotel reception staff Jarel and Alicia told me they did not have the single pay credit from my contract reservation upon checking in. But they checked me in anyhow at 4 p.m., saying it wasn't my fault and they would take care of it with Priceline. It took a full half-hour to check in.
Then Alicia called at 9 and came by my room at 9:30 to tell me that she cancelled my room and I needed to find another hotel! I politely disagreed, stating they had no ground to expel me, and she said I could find another hotel or I needed to rebook. She had me between a rock and a hard place, so I reluctantly rebooked without signing any agreement to the new price. I wrote, "See other contract." Trying to get them to resolve this problem while I was there, but to no avail. I was supposed to be enjoying Columbia on my vacation. This was becoming a nightmare.
After the last three weeks of being on the phone with these people and with Priceline, I finally called my credit card company and am disputing the cost of the whole room. I read the other experiences here on Google, people saying in their comments, "they should pay me to stay here." So, that's what I'm doing.
James the manager made promises to call me but never did. Alicia should not even be working in hospitality, as she is completely incapable of serving guests. Jarel was polite but unempowered to resolve my problems, as was Sylvia, both polite. But they did nothing to reduce my rate.
After my credit card bill came I was able to cal Jarel to get back my $100 deposit, but the Baymont would not do anything for me to reduce the amount of money they had me pay in addition to my Priceline contract.
Must have spent at least 10 hours on the phone over these last weeks. Priceline refunded a small portion of my contract, but my credit card suggested because they had treated me so poorly that I dispute the whole charge that the Baymont hotel charged to my card. I agreed. I have more than paid for my room rate by wasting so much time and energy dealing with these people who will not do their job it turns out I did for them. If better business bureau or the health dept were to read this, they'd very likely close them down.
Baymont by Wyndham Northwest Columbia is the worst hospitality experience I have ever endured. If no stars (zero) were an option, they would get none from me on this review. And I have visited a third world country where the faucet came out if the wall when I turned on the shower and it wasn't nearly this bad. The staff should have been polite and empowered.
They have some numerous very dangerous rebar sticking up out of the ground near the parking spaces outside the rooms. It's extremely hazardous. Somebody, a guest, could impale their foot and sue the hotel.
One last thing: I had to run all over this hotel to resolve these problems on my own. I was told by Jarel I could use the pool, but it was not even open and had "caution" tape all over the gate blocking access.
And when I stopped to inquire for help from the people who apparently own or manage the hotel, perhaps from India, they treated me so rudely I could not believe it. They were in a storage room next to my room (149, if I recall) with the lights on, and all standing or sitting around laughing and talking. When I kindly asked for help, they said, "You cannot interrupt us. This is a private meeting."...
Read moreIf I could leave negative stars, I would. I had booked a room for my adult child for 16 days, while they waited to move in to their new home. When they pulled up one of the men working there kept going in and out of the lobby with a lit cigarette. All of the bellhops were in terrible condition and were incredibly hard to move without them dumping everything on the floor. There was no A/C in the lobby or in the halls. There was a very distinct smell of mildew and mold throughout the whole place. There were stains on nearly every seat. One of the stains, near the bathrooms, had clear blood stains. Speaking of the bathrooms they were filthy and unsafe to use. The hall floors were covered in stains and the walls were wet and peeling. The room where you get ice from was completely flooded. The walls were severely water damaged and the ceiling was leaking. Some of the rooms didn’t have numbers on them. The room my child had been put in was absolutely disgusting. First of all, the door barely shut. Then once you got in it was very dark and there was very little lighting. The bathroom sink was dirty, the mirror had something splashed all over it, the bath looked like it was rotting and was also dirty, the towels had stains on them, the picture in the bathroom had bugs in the frame, the carpets were stained, the bedding was stained, the chairs were stained, the coffee pot was dirty, the bedside table was dirty, the curtains were stained and to top it all off: there were BED BUGS. I had to have my husband leave work to come pick them up as it is clearly an unsafe environment for anyone to be in.
As for the staff the young man that checked my child in was very kind and super helpful. I wish I could remember his name. But the other woman working was extremely rude and kept interrupting him which made the check in process super long and had formed a line. She also argued with a guest in front of everyone else in the lobby.
I went to the front desk to immediately check out and I was told to come back the next day so the manager could refund our 16 day stay. When we went back, they told us we had to get a refund through Priceline. I contacted Priceline and was told that the manager of the Hotel property needed to call priceline so they could initiate the refund. I was told to call the hotel back on Sept 2 between 8 and 4, to speak with the manager. and they refused to call. I called Priceline again. and I was told the same thing, however the front desk employee said that he would call the hotel and merge the conversation. The Hotel employees were not answering phones so I was told by the Priceline employee that I would get a phone call whenwers . I was given the same run around and was told that the manager was out of the office until Monday, even though I was told, by the manager, that they would be there today. I was quite upset over all of this. This hotel should not even be allowed to operate in the state it is in. Now I'm having to argue with the Hotel personnel and Priceline. I believe that both the Baymont and Priceline need to refund my entire prepaid, 16 day stay because the Hotel is incredibly unsafe for people to stay in. DO NOT...
