I found myself craving butter chicken and garlic naan so I decided to swing by on my way home for a little treat and I'm so glad I did! The food was warm well after I got it home and the portion sizes are significant. I'm not a small lady, but one order of butter chicken and 2 naan ends up making EASILY two meals, if not three. The chunks of chicken are huge and juicy! I was so afraid it was going to be dry when I saw how big the pieces were, but it was perfect. The rice was also cooked to perfection, flavored beautifully, and complimented the butter chicken flawlessly. The rice takes on a lot of the sauce when you combine it with the chicken, so it's 100% delicious from beginning to end. The sauce is such a wonderful blend of creamy, slightly sweet, aromatic, and rich. I could dip a piece of trash in this sauce, and that piece of trash would be delicious. I didn't even get a chance to snap a photo before chowing down because the smell was killin me the whole way home! The only "downside" to my trip was that I placed my order online and got a 45-60 minute wait time. They really didn't seem THAT full or busy, but that's not exactly my business anyways so I'm not docking them any stars for the long wait. At the end of the day, I would wait twice as long if I had to in order to secure this meal. Absolutely fantastic food. The naan is also pretty decently sized, so it justifies the price. I thought it was a little too expensive until I got it home and saw it's the size of a beach towel! My garlic naan was crispy on the edges and softer towards the middle, with plenty of garlic and herbs on top. I had a very quick, simple interaction with the guy at the host stand, who was nice and welcoming, but can't speak on their long game when it comes to service.
I got spice level medium, but didn't find it to be too hot. I definitely plan on kicking it up a notch next time.
Quick recap: baptize your garlic naan and rice in butter chicken sauce and your life will be changed. I will be returning...
Read moreWe had Persis Biryani India Grill cater the food for the Mehndi/Sangeet and for the Reception of the recent Wedding in our family, in Charleston, South Carolina. Mr. Mohammed Kashif was very accommodative and responsive to the detailed requirements we had for the Mehndi/Sangeet and for the Wedding. For both the events the menu consisted of many dishes. For the Mehndi/Sangeet some of the most popular items were, a live Dosa Station, live Pani Puri, live Bhel Puri Station, Grilled Shrimp, variety of Chicken Kebabs, Seekh Kebab, and Samosa Chat. For dessert we had Gulab Jamun and Triple Mango Ice-Cream (this was actually suggested by Mohammed and a big hit!). For the Wedding for appetizers, we had Chicken 65, Fish Amirtsari, Vegetable Pakoda, Aloo Tikki and a Fruit Platter. For the Entrees we had over eight dishes and the big hits were, Chicken Tikka Masala, Tandoori Chicken, Malai Kofta, Tava Vegetable, and Goat Karaikudi (this one was out of this world!!). For dessert we had Ras Malai (very delicious!). Mohammed also arranged for a live Pan Station for both the events, which the guests loved! All the guests were raving about the delicious food. Even though the wedding was in Charleston, Mohammed arranged the logistics perfectly and the food was ready on time and of excellent quality, and more importantly the food was plenty. Due to the Pandemic we had to postpone the Wedding several times and Mohammed was willing to work with us and accommodate the change in plans. The food was delicious and working with Mohammed was a breeze. I would strongly recommend Persis Biryani India Grill for your catering needs; you will not be...
Read moreFood was great, appreciate the room for customization. We tried goat pepper fry appetizer, which was our favorite! I got lamb korma, and my mom got Hakka noodles, both very nicely prepared. Nice that you can choose spice level on 1-6 scale.. subjective but 4 was not bad at all for spice lover.
Alcoholic cocktails were just okay. For ten dollars, I’d 100% save the $$ and pass if I could do it over— glasses they’re served in (+pours) are definitely portion controlled..it’s a business, I get that.
My only major/overshadowing criticism is the odd flow of service. Not even sure how to articulate how disjointed it was. Low and behold when it came time to pay the bill (upon not even being asked if we were finished.. we were planning on lassi/one more glass of wine) we were absolutely swarmed— a woman rushing over, doing laps back and forth, to hover & clear the entire table like she was being timed. Same woman, who was not our server, made a point to hurriedly snatch up the cash tip we left on table. I’m a bartender so can vouch for that being 100% unprofessional and arguably rude. Good call though because I would’ve taken 20 out of 30 back. Sigh. I could understand if they were busy and trying to turn the table, but we were one of three tables occupied. This did horrible for making us feel welcome and only made us feel rushed.
$100+ lunch yet we left feeling cheaply revolved through the place. Good food, sure, but at the expense of paradoxically obsequious (untimely tidying) yet totally lacking social skills of staff… I’ll make my own Indian...
