We stayed at Tru for 3 days and had a wonderful time. The hotel is very clean and in a very good location. The Warren Movie Theater and a lot of eating places are within walking distance. Target is about a mile north of the hotel and a Walmart about 2 miles south of the hotel. The hotel is very close to a couple of major highways. The mall is a few miles away and Cabela's is nearby. A new Pickleball court is on the other side of the hotel. The fitness center inside the hotel has a good variety of workout equipment to use. This hotel is very eco friendly. The soaps and soaps are in bulk bottles, so you never have to worry about running out of product. Paper utensils/plates are used for breakfast and condiments are in bulk containers. The breakfast is eggs/sausage. Plenty of fresh fruit, coffee and juice choices. A waffle maker with various toppings, yogurt/oatmeal cups with toppings, bagels and muffins. The breakfast area was very clean and well stocked. There is a game area with a lot of games for kids to play with and to unwind. The rooms have a small fridge, ironing board, iron and hair dryer. The rooms were very clean and we experienced no problems during our stay. The internet was pretty fast and never dropped. The rooms are an open concept. So, there is no closet. But plenty of room to hang/store what we needed. There is a very long counter below the tv where you can place all of your personal belongings. It would be difficult to forget anything before leaving because everything is out in the open. I was able to spread everything out on the counter and made it easier to locate what I needed for the day instead of having to sift through my luggage. The beds were very comfortable and each bed had 3 large pillows each of soft, medium and firm. We came and went from the hotel several times. There is plenty of parking and hotel workers were always at the door to greet us and were alert to people coming and going. I felt very safe at this location and would definitely stay here again. I didn't take photos until our second day and after we unpacked...
Read moreIâve held off this review a few weeks to be sure of my reactions. Upon arrival the lobby is VERY modern and the staff warm and friendly. Who doesnât like a hotel with a pool table in the lobby and hanging chairs, sprawling couches, computer work cubbies, and copies of âWiredâ and other high-tech magazines available and about.
Weâre a married couple driving over 9,000 âlower 48' miles in under 90 days this trip. A different hotel at least every second day. Everywhere from a Ritz Carlton to a Motel 6 depending on distance, mood, location and reviews. We booked a King for two. This was the first time in decades of travel that a room for two had chairs for one - and only one. Perhaps the thinking is that one of us would sit for hours on the toilet... play pool... or just sleep. The response of staff was friendly but as if nobody before had ever wanted a second chair. The first one offered was a molded plastic âby the poolâ kind of thing. Ultimately we received an extra office chair. There was no place to put it. If one of us wanted to walk about the room, the other had to sit in the office chair backed against the roomâs door but out of TV vision. Every hotel stay has âsettling-inâpros, cons, and adjustments. What I found difficult about this Tru hotel was that it was more of a residential office than a hotel. Fine. Just let people know before they arrive after a long day. Every lobby seat was clearly a work station. Our roomâs single seat was an office chair at a desk.
If I was writing the Great American Novel without being disturbed, this is the perfect hotel to hide out. There was even an excellent Whole Foods Market not far away to help. So Iâm saying this is not a âtravelerâsâ hotel nor a vacationerâs or a familyâs hotel. Itâs more of an overnight office rental. You may love it. For us it was not a good fit. The very next day another âKing for twoâ at about the same price point had three chairs: an arm chair, a desk chair, and a recliner. Pure chance... but...
Read moreFirst impressions of this hotel were good. The staff was friendly and the lobby was very nice. A great place to work or relax. No pool, but that is not a big deal. There is a pool table and a game cabinet. The problem was the room. First the smell was not pleasant. A stale and foul but unidentifiable scent greeted us. I noticed the (hard) floor was filthy. Like piled up dust bunnies and hair filthy. Things were dusty (par for the course, and I noticed the toilet had been wiped, though there was hair on it still. (It was still wet, so I assume it had just been done). There were smeared handprints on the coat rack and windows, some mysterious stain on the window valance (New Year's champage?), and dirt on the walls. The shower and sink were pretty clean, but, overall, it was pretty grimey. The worst (and possibly most deceptive thing, was the beds. The top cover had been changed/vacuumed, the sheets were stained but debatably had be changed. The mattress cover (which I try to always check), was filthy. Indeterminate bits of organic matter and hair were scattered over it. And the mattress underneath was very stained. I understand that it happens, but a better quality and care of mattress covers would improve this. Overall, I was very disappointed with the cleanliness of the room. I have seen worse, but not for this price and with such a well-reputed...
