OK, so it's a Howard Johnson, so I wasn't expecting too much. We were a little dubious when the woman at the desk directed us to a remote out-building. But when we got to the room it was clean and comfortable, if a tad small. The bed was nice and comfy, and the HVAC was easy to adjust.||Then there was the TV. While the remote was able to turn it on and off, it would not do anything else. Couldn't pull up the guide. Couldn't change channels, couldn't adjust the volume. Nothing. So I looked on the TV to see if there were buttons that might be able to change the channel or something. No such luck, but while I was searching, I managed to unplug the cable box. When I plugged it back in, it took an unreasonably long time to boot. The boot process showed us a lot of system information that a decent OS would have hidden. When the cable finally came on, we still couldn't change the channel or anything. So we ended up watching Family Feud and the 10 O'clock News.||Now, I'm told there's only one cable company in Williamstown, and it's not very good, so maybe that factors in to the unreasonable boot time and system messages, but I don't see how it might factor into the non-functioning of the remote.||I should probably mention that hotel pricing in Williamstown and North Adams can fluctuate pretty widely. We were there for a Guster concert, but the Williamstown Theater Festival was also going on. So I can't say this room was a good value. It was very, very overpriced. Even so, it was one of the cheaper places in town.||I'd recommend this place if you just need basic lodging, but I'd check the TV...
Read moreWorst Motel. Ever. OMG, what a nightmare. This was our 7th motel in 8 nights, and by far the worst experience of our trip and our lives. Where to begin? Layout - our room was in an adjacent building that had some room doors on outside and some on inside. No rhyme or reason, so we hunted in the dark for poorly labeled signs. When i found the hallway door that should lead to our room, i opened the door and was met by an unmarked step up which almost put me on floor. As I recovered I discovered my room door hidden behind the open outside door. The room had a six-inch step up? And the bathroom had a 1 inch step up (that was fun to rediscover in the dark) Cleanliness - stained furniture and with the lights on we saw how they werent vacuuming in the corners as it was thick with dust. Maintenance - The closet door was off and propped against the closet. Hole in shower curtain. Very small shower stall. No fitted sheet on bed. Horrible, saggy king size mattress. Microwave on top of safe next to fridge? Noise - with our room door behind the entrance door, all night as people arrived they banged that door into ours. If Howard Johnsons is comfortable with this dumpster fire representing their name, I would suggest never staying at a HoJos ever. This was a travesty. Not worth 2 nickles. The only value this motel might add, is if they hosted prisoners on their way to prison, who would be encouraged that their incarceration wouldnt be this bad. Do not stay here. If i could give them negative stars I would. Horrible,...
Read moreThis place is awesome! My husband and I work in western MA 2 days/week so instead of driving back to Worcester county at night, we typically try to find a place to crash nearby and this time we found the Howard Johnson by Wyndham Williamstown. From check-in on we were more than satisfied. We reserved the room online and check-in took less than 5 minutes (while you're waiting to check in, check out the lego sculptures made by the owners son!). We stayed in room 312 and were blown away with the size, cleanliness and comfort of the bed! When we were checking-in, we saw a couple of rooms near the lobby were being renovated and hoped we would be staying in one that had been recently renovated and we were! The TV is brand new, floors immaculate and heat blasting! Private, secluded parking felt very safe when unloading our luggage. Even though we usually try to stay under $80/night (we paid ~$100 for the night), out of the 10+ hotels/motels we've stayed in, this is by far the best bang for your buck. WILL...
