We had a reservation for 6:30 pm, they did not seat us until 6:45 pm. They ran out of "pan chan", but they are open to 9:30 pm so should not have ran out of food. The unagi eel was good, but the waitress knew less about it than I did, she did not know it was fresh water eel. When we asked for "bo-le-cha" (Korean barley tea), our waitress looked at us with a confused look, she must not have ever head the name for this korean staple. When we requested "tea, Korean barley tea" she threw the menu at us and told all the teas were on the back, but did not wait for our drink order or suggest an alternative tea. Our vegetable tempora was saggy and not Krispy so it must have sat on the kitchen counter top for awhile (after it was ready for us) before it was brought out to us. We got our entrees at 7:47pm, an hour after the order was made. The food was of good quality. The restaurant was empty when we were finally served. Only three tables had people at them. But the waitress told us she was too busy to serve us that evening in a timely manner, before we finished, we asked for our check and waited a long time for our waitress to bring it to us. Eventually, we had to take our check up to the owner to get it processed so we could depart.

In summary, we had Good food at a reasonable price, even if the portions where a little small. The restaurant was kept clean and we felt safe at while dining, The owners are clearly working to put out a high quality product. However, we experienced both slow and poor service from their help. Our server lacked professionalism and knowledge about the menu items, and instead provided a touch of attitude and arrogance. Our sever exhibited a lack compassion and humility. The restaurant is probably a good one for takeout if you can wait over an hour for your order. We did not find it to measure up to its 4.7 rating, one of the higher ratings in the area. Its high rating was originally the reason for...

Korean Garden – A Hidden Gem in The Shire

Korean food has always been one of my go-to cuisines when hunger strikes. But let’s be honest—finding a great Korean spot can be tough in some areas. So imagine my surprise when I stumbled upon Korean Garden, a true hidden gem tucked away in The Shire.

As usual, I walked in absolutely starving and ready to indulge. We were warmly greeted by a sweet ajumma at the door and seated by the front window. The place was small and cozy, with only a handful of tables—just the kind of spot that usually means home-cooked goodness.

I ordered my usual favorites: Galbi, Bulgogi, and Spicy Udon Soup. My Korean came in handy and made ajumma smile when I told her I had lived in Munsan for a few years. She lit up, introduced herself and her husband, and we had a lovely chat. I mentioned I’d be relocating to The Shire soon and that they’d be seeing a lot more of me.

The banchan came out first—and wow, we got a generous variety. They even asked if we’d like refills (dangerous question for someone like me). Each one was fresh and flavorful—if I wasn’t careful, I could have emptied their fridge.

When our mains arrived, everything looked (and tasted) amazing. The portions were big enough that I needed a takeout bag—which means lunch tomorrow is covered too!

I’ll definitely be back. Warm, soulful food. Kind, welcoming owners. Cozy atmosphere. Just the kind of comfort you need when living near...

This place does not know how to seat customers well. They look at you with worried or blank faces when you arrive, then make you wait by the door. Then every staff member will rush the people who are EATING to make room for people waiting by the door. The chef and waitresses will walk by to see how much food diners have left on their plates. Then give the bill to signal to leave soon. The staff will argue about where to seat new guests, and POINT at the table of people who are still eating. I actually left the restaurant WHILE chewing my last bite of food. I HAD FOOD IN MY MOUTH WHILE WALKING OUT lol. That’s how awkward this space is. They currently have no charm or atmosphere for dine in. Pls let the owners know one tip:

If customers come, just tell them “How many, party name? About 10 mins wait, or 30 mins wait, ok? Smile.” Take their names and put it on a list. You don’t have to tell them which table will be theirs. Be more subtle. Let the people who are eating eat in peace. When they leave, call the new guests’ name. That’s how other restaurants do it.

Currently, your welcoming system is very rude to diners and awkward! It needs real improvement. I hope my review helps the...

What a surprise to find this place in a non-descript mini strip mall. The place I was staying at, Williamstown Motel, in fact, recommended this little restaurant and I’m glad I went. If you stay at the motel, it’s only 500 feet away which is about a 5 minute walk. I recommend that you walk a little farther to the crosswalk as there’s a better chance that cars will actually stop to let you cross. The restaurant is a tiny place with 7 tables but I didn’t at all feel squished. I ordered the hot stone bibimbap and wow, so good and the perfect size for a single serving. Of course you get some sides, which is what I love about Korean food.

Very friendly and prompt service in the smallish 10 table establishment. The dumplings and sauce was delicious. The bulgogi was sweet and salty with just the perfect amount of sauce. The shrimp with noodles was good though it could have used some extra chili sauce (which we forgot to ask for). The scallion pancakes was stuffed full of scallions and had to be the thickest scallion pancake I've ever been served. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area and looking for Korean.
