We stayed at the Lofty Willows Treehouse. We booked two days and should still be there as I write this review, but we left after just one day and just took the loss. We direct booked with Amish Country Lodging for two days with an early check in (added charge). They charge a deposit at the time of booking, then take the rest of your money 30 days in advance of the stay. They make it abundantly clear that your money will not be refunded under any circumstances once within that 30 days. We were ok with that because there were good reviews, and we were excited about staying in a treehouse! Within hours of our stay, we reported several maintenance issues. The place advertises how quiet it is, but the outside hot tub on the back deck was buzzing so loudly that you couldn't hear anything but the tub. It sounded like a constant bug zapper. The back deck was the only view, but the loud noise caused us to move to the front porch where we had a nice view of the trash dumpster. Inside the treehouse, we reported that the blinds were missing from the back door (there were screw holes in the door where they had once been); the door had a full length window. The door window had a broken curtain rod with only a valance (not a full curtain). The floor to ceiling picture window next to it had a semi-sheer (or threadbare, more likely) curtain that did not fully cover the sides of the window. Since the front porch wrapped around to the back deck, any creepy person could walk up the front steps to the back deck and look into the room and have a great view of the bed and bathtub. At least the dirt on the windows offered some privacy. We reported the bath tub jets did not adjust (control panel up/down did not work); they were stuck on a setting so high and loud that we had to yell to hear each other, so we just shut it off. We reported three light bulbs were burnt out as well. We never used any appliances (except the coffee maker), the outside hot tub, or the fireplace, so we can't speak on those. The water pressure was good. The towels and washcloths were the quality of the ones you buy in bulk at Walmart (small, thin, and rough); on top of their cheapness, the towels had reached the end of their usable life; I have better towels at my house in my bin of cleaning rags. Although this company is quick to take your money or offer you a discount to add to your stay due to what they refer to as a "gap between bookings", they are not quick to respond to maintenance issues which obviously have been overlooked for some time. I did get a text response the following morning that they would "go ahead and let our maintenance team know". I reported the curtain privacy issue at 5:15 pm within hours of check in. This was never repaired while we were there. The bath tub was not repaired, either. They didn't even change the light bulbs. A repair person did show up (unannounced, I might add--a phone call would have been nice) for the outside hot tub in the morning around 8:30 am. The straw that broke the camel's back that caused us to pack up and leave after one day was when we noticed the filth in the areas you don't tend to look. On the surface, it looked clean. Just don't look under anything. There is a gap between the shower and wall with dust so thick, it looks like fur. It was filthy under the side tables by bed and around the bed. It is important to note that they charge a $40.00 cleaning fee to your stay. We packed up and left like we were doing a midnight run (even though we paid the price)! The cost to us was our wasted time and $697.94 for their rate, fees and taxes (we only added the early check in for $45, the rest was the base rate of $538.00 a reservation fee $5.00, cleaning fee $40.00, lodging tax $32.28, and sales tax $37.66). We can only hope that they use the money for maintenance upkeep and a vacuum cleaner with cleaning tools. Maybe the next guests won't have to endure...
Read moreGreat stay in the Cottonwood Suite. Jeff and his team went above and beyond to make our 30th anniversary special. They left ballon’s, a beautiful plant, tickets to the comedy show and a handwritten note. The surprise was unexpected but truly appreciated.
The room was spectacular and comfortable. There is plenty of space with a table for two, a couch, and chair. The bed was comfortable. The kitchenette was very functional. The bathroom shower was HUGE. It could acclimate at least 6 people. The finishings were a cabin modern feel. The in room jetted tub was so relaxing and cool. It was set in a rock surrounding with a waterfall spout. Love it! I am disabled and my walker had zero issues maneuvering around the room and doors. The outdoor space was relaxing. Peaceful setting to enjoy morning coffee.
There is so much to do in the area and Jeff’s recommendations did not disappoint. The food was wonderful and we could have spent weeks going to all the attractions. We will be back for sure. I would give 10 stars if I could. Thank you Jeff and...
Read moreWe were really excited to stay in this place, as the pictures on their website looked beautiful, however when we got there it was quite another story. The tree houses or the Evergreen log home may have been nice, however we had a room in the lodge. The outside needs a LOT of work. Inside, the carpet was not very clean, there were stains on the wing chair in the sitting area, there were pieces of stone broken out of the jet tub, and the window on the fireplace was filthy. When we arrived, the room seemed to be cleaned pretty well. The second day they forgot to leave a voucher for the next day's breakfast and did not take all of the soiled bath linens. The cleaning on our last full day the bed was not made, they did not do up the dirty dishes as they had before, and the linens were just placed on the table in the kitchen area. We were planning on leaving a tip on the last morning, but after the way we were treated, we changed our minds. I would not...
