I have stayed in many hotels in Vietnam throughout the years including some of the best…Hiltons, Sheratons, and even the Le Meridien in HCM. To me, I got the value at fraction of the cost at the Grand Gold Hotel (GGH). I have stayed here from OCT 3-16, 2019 after a few business trips preceding this, and I need much needed rest and recuperation. GGH is a beachfront property and is just a few steps away from the water. There is a museum next-door, local coffee shop…and of course, seafood restaurants nearby (they’re everywhere). Many said it’s a little far from town, but it has its advantages: It is quiet, not as many “honking” from the traffic as you would hear in the busier part of town. Two must-have app’s when you are in Vietnam: Grab and Foody. Grab is essentially UBER in the state. You DO NOT need a credit card to activate, just pay cash when you finish your ride. You do however, need a Vietnamese phone number (can purchase SIM card at the airport once you arrived or just ask Hana or Phuong at the hotel. Foody app is what you need when you’re hungry, great app! With the two apps, you don’t need to stay close to the action….stay in your quiet, peaceful hotel (GGH) …. then bring the action to you whenever you wanted.
GGH picked me up from the airport as promised and set me up in the 14th floor with an amazing view of the ocean and city. The room was contemporary, very clean with comfortable beds. The sheet has that silky, slick-feel. I slept like a baby! Bathroom with shower very clean and modern. Each morning as I open my eyes to the scenery from the bed, I just wanted to stay in bed! It was peaceful, beautiful and relaxed…really! I did not want to get out of bed!!! The air conditioner have no problem keeping the room heat load even with the big picture window with evening sun. Therefore, it is nice and cool throughout the day.
Hotel staff were very friendly and professional. Managements (Miss Van, Jasmin, and Thuy) often talked to me whenever we ran into each other. They would make sure that I am comfortable at the Hotel. What I have learned is that the employee here are like one big family. They even hang out and do things together even when they’re off the clock.
Receptionists were helpful with local restaurants, attractions and transportations. Miss Lan Phuong, Hana, and Jasmine when out of their way to help me planned my trip to NhaTrang. Hana arranged air travel and accommodation for my trip. Miss Phuong and Jasmine help with the refund for the days I was away. They also helped to have my reservation in order with Expedia when i get back. I felt like a real VIP! Thank you Phuong, Hana and Jasmine!
I often hang out with Mr. Y and Mr. Quynh at the rooftop bar. I ordered foods and have my favorite drink in one hand sitting next to the pool and all the problems in the world seem to disappeared. The hotel also have a food selection for breakfast. The restaurant was nice and clean. Mr. Hung at the restaurant helped me with setting up voice and data allocation on my phone…this was very nice of him. Room service was excellent and foods ordered at the rooftop bar were quick…like 10 minutes. Thanks Mr. Y and Mr. Quynh
I tried hard to find something for them to improve…unfortunately, the only thing I came-up with was the meats in the pho at breakfast was chewy and the noodle was often over-boiled/cooked.
I was impressed and actually was sad to leave! Overall, I had the best Relax-Cation. I definitely recommend this hotel to anyone who looking for some R&R. I give it a five stars! Thank you all!
Oh…hahaha…I forgot to mention….they also have a Full SPA in the hotel…I think I went there three times. Very convenience and the staff were very friendly and professional (thank you Thuy, Dung and I forgot the other masseuse name…sorry!) I snored too...

Not even the first night here and we already experienced poor service. The first room we were given had water-damaged flooring and no standard latch on the door. Front desk offered us the same type of room on a lower floor and we accepted. The issue with the current room is the leaking kettle while in use, faulty closet door, no latch on main door. The layout of the bathroom is terrible because the door swings open into the sink, the toilet does not have its own door, there is no ventilation and no place to for towels to hang dry. Another issue is that the hotel has an ironing service available from 9am to 4pm but doesn’t have an iron box for their overnight guest to use upon request. The room and service is not worth the RM460 I paid. It is very difficult to communicate to the hotel staff over the phone because they know very little English. Even when I went down to the reception to request for 2 additional bath towels, they only sent 1. All my communication with the hotel staff wouldn’t have been possible without Google translate.
I’m improving this review because the managers were very helpful and hospitable, they upgraded my room from Deluxe Twin to Family Suite FOC and apologized for the inconvenience. They even gave me a FOC birthday cake to celebrate my birthday and free airport transfer. The door in the Family Suite has a latch on the lock. Thank you Grand Gold hotel for making my birthday better. I recommend booking this hotel if you prefer quiet scenery and it is about 4km away from Lady Buddha...
Read moreThe bad: Thin walls. Breakfast was okay, but I had better for cheaper stay in Hue and Hanoi. Location was very bad for restaurants and markets (I used Grab app to have food delivered most nights. Grab bike anytime you want to leave the hotel). I was a bit let down that they didn't change the sheets before I checked in. Other people's hair and sand in the sheets. VERY slow wifi. No password on the wifi, totally unsecured. No remote for the AC. Restaurant is closed except for breakfast. Downstairs cafe is closed entirely with no signage. Rats running around outside everywhere at night, within feet of the hotel front door. Low water pressure on higher floors. Paid for a suite with a tub but the tub took ~35mins to fill.
The good: The bed was comfortable and staff was accomodating. No bugs. They moved me into a room that was properly cleaned (but I could hear the rumbling pool pump for 2 hours every morning and night). Close to lady Buddha statue. Beautiful view from the bathtub in the suite.
Overall this hotel is worth it if you book a basic room. But for the price of the upgraded rooms, there are better options closer to the hustle and bustle of the city and still close to the beach. I'm surprised to see people gushing over this hotel in the reviews as much as they are. My guess is that this is the only place they...
