It's like walking back time. Not sure how far back, maybe just before 1940? Especially what the hotel calls the walking street in the middle, as you can see from the pix. A certain old world Parisian charm about it. Along the walk is where you also find the gym and pool. At night saw a rat crossing the walking street, obviously fearless as scurried right under my chair. That takes me back too to a time long ago ...
The place is massive, four blocks, plus a restaurant, plus some shops, plus a convention centre, with a hall that can sit 1,000! That's pretty big for a hotel setting. Later asked the staff. Yes, top convention centre in the city. Used to be the top hotel in the city. Seen better days for sure, overall has a tired elegance about it.
The room we got was massive, with it's own little outdoor settee. Pity no view though, better to go to the walking street. Some rooms had balconies to the walking street.
Bed isn't as clean as it should be, see pix. Shower stall flooring is cracked. Water pressure is also very low. I dunno why the TV is so tiny; seen some desktop monitors that size! Guess there's nothing good on anyway. Power points are insufficient and loose. Propped the charger up to stay charging. No points at the work desk! Nor by the coffee table and chairs! Not even a light for the outdoor settee, so not meant to be used at night I guess. If you're looking where to plug in the supplied hot water kettle, go to the bathroom to fill it, and plug it! For some reason the kettle is two pin slant, and that's the only two pin slant power point in the room!
The air con was very weak and rattled so much I couldn't sleep! Definitely maintenance issue. Shower also dribbled water through the night. Changed rooms. Got a smaller one, but still spacious. Better power points, more corridor seats. Funny shower head that is fixed to shower a six footer or must be hand carried as you shower! Floor a tad dusty. See pix. At least the sheets are spotless.
I'd rate the facilities as very good. Way underused, the restaurant for example stated it served breakfast, lunch and dinner, but was open only for breakfast, and at best was a third full. I'd rate the rooms as mediocre to bad.. I'd rate the location as pretty good too, quite central. So overall, a pretty middling grade. Pity. Would have liked to have seen this place in...
Read moreHave to cross the big road to the other side to go shopping eating etc. Hotel building is 4 stars, but need lot of upgrade and maintainence to keep 4 stars status. Exhaust fan in toilet not working, no air flow, not good.Good about the room which has 2 nice windows, but only problems, one window facing main road, also facing the mobile phone transmitting tower almost directly facing the room.Breakfast is too ordinary for 4 stars with little food options available. But still it is the best 4 stars which I stayed in Danang, too many hotels claiming to be 4 stars but all fake. I have to physically go to check out 4 stars hotels to see if real 4 stars hotel or not in Danang, and in that day, I checked 4 of 4 stars hotels which all fake 4 stars. It seems no regulation and standards there. Bed sheet has hole and room not well maintained, they put a carpet there in the room probably to cover up something, and carpet did not look that clean. But still it was the best 4 stars which I could...
