Nicobar Con Dao Hotel — Hotel in Bà Rịa - Vũng Tàu Province

As we found our way to Con Dao, we were exited to finally get to our Hotel after long flights from Switzerland. The Airport of Con Dao is tiny so it was very easy to get to the point where all passengers got their rides to their Hotels. Nicobar Hotel clearly stated, that they would send us a shuttle bus on arrival. But well, we stood there, the only ones left and no one came. Luckily three kind men from the airport and the taxi stand wanted to help and called them several times until they reached someone. Yes, our flight had a 2h delay but no other Hotel seemed to have a problem with that so why Nicobar Hotel? After 45 minutes of waiting they arrived at the airport to pick us up. We decided to not let it ruin our stay and forgot about it. The driver was nice did not appologize though but since we know that vietnamese people can be very reserved sometimes we just went with it and that was that. We arrived at our location and in the beginning we thought that everything looked fine, just like in the pictures online. Since the reviews were very good we still had high hopes that everything will be ok. The lady at the front desk though didn’t seem to speak any english and just gave us our key after we gave her our passports, no welcome, no apologize, nothing. Still hoping for the best we then entered our room and...to be honest, it was a shock. Appart from the fact that we booked a Deluxe room but got a very small and dark standard room without window, the room was dirty like nothing we had ever seen on all our vacations. This is not just a cheap 8 bed hostel, no this is a Hotel for which we payed 900K Dong per night. Other then the dirty floor, we are pretty sure that the bed sheets were not changed after the guests before us, since there were many hair and some sand on them, the towels had disgusting brown stayns and the worst part was that the toilet seat had blood spots on it. We then tried to change the room and have a discussion with our hands and feet and a little vietnamese that my friend speaks with the woman at the front desk but she refused to give us another room without any emotions and told us that the Hotel was fully booked. She did not help in anyway and did not care either. We decided to stay since we already payed and couldn‘t get our money back. Fortunately we only had to sleep there, which was very very noisy at night as well but we were so tired after the beautiful walks around the island that we fell asleep quickly. Another bothering point was that it always smelled badly out of the shower drain...we could not figure out what it was but it smelled aweful so we always had to close the door before sleeping. One good part though was the motor bike rent. We had the same one for the time we stayed and it worked very well.

Con Dao is a beautiful place with beautiful and very quiet beaches and and only few tourists. If you search for a place to stay where you have to find the right restaurants and things to do on your own and just give yourself to the real vietnamese culture without the overwellming consume society, where there are just a few cafes and maybe one or two offers to do touristy things, you definately will find your peace there. Just remember our review about Nicobar Hotel. We are a bit irritated about the many good reviews because for us it was a bad experience and we do not have too high expectations. A nice guy we met on the Island stayed in another Hotel in a much lowet price range and he had a wonderful stay so it probably wasn‘t the missing stars.

We liked our stay at the Nicobar Hotel ||On Con Dao island and with their fantastic staff, Ms Phuong, Ms Mai, and Mr Huynh the owner of the hotel who made our 6 night stay so enjoyable ||It was so fun renting motorbikes and touring the island which Ms Mai arranged for us to do and listening to Mr Huynh on how the US Ambassador selected him and only him in all of Vietnam to go to the USA for a course on Leadership. Yếu tố đầu tiên để đánh giá khách sạn này 5 sao chính là sự tỉ mỉ, cẩn thận, sạch sẽ và trang nhã trong cách bài trí. Tiếp theo, điều khiến tôi hài lòng nhất là đặt phòng 800k nhưng được up lên phòng 1000k miễn phí (Ảnh phòng tôi để dưới đây). Các hạng phòng ở đây đều được free đón tiễn sân bay. Tính ra tiền phòng quá là rẻ luôn… Tôi là một người ko thích phòng khách sạn nhỏ, nhưng do lúc tìm phòng, thấy ưng cái vibe của nơi này quá nên bé tôi cũng đặt, mà ko up lên phòng 1000k vì tôi xác định lần đầu đến Côn Đảo sẽ đi chơi cả ngày, ko muốn tốn thêm tiền up lên hạng. Ai ngờ bước vào phòng là ồ wow luôn. Sao nó to chà bá. Phòng tôi có khu vực tắm riêng, toilet riêng và khu đánh răng rửa mặt riêng. Ko có view xuống phố hay gì nhưng bù lại rất rộng nên tôi cảm thấy thoải mái thật sự. Hỏi khách sạn thì mới biết khách sạn up phòng cho tôi chứ ban đầu cũng ko ai nói gì hết. Thank you so much! Ở đây có cho thuê xe máy, các xe còn mới cứng nha. Tôi thuê 1 chiếc Vision đi vi vu với giá 150k/ngày. Phòng rất sạch sẽ, sáng tôi đi ăn sáng và café 1 lúc xong về đã thấy phòng được dọn lại 1 lần rồi. Đây cũng là lần đầu ở đây và tôi thấy lựa chọn của mình rất đúng đắn. Một điểm trừ nhỏ là khu này cách âm không tốt, có thể nghe thấy người check in cười nói dưới tầng 1 luôn (mặc dù tôi ở tầng 4). Tuy vậy, tôi đi ngày trong tuần, cũng vắng nên không ảnh hưởng đến trải nghiệm 3n2d ở đâyy. À, tôi đang ngồi tại khách sạn để đánh giá khách...
