Ok ok. 5 stars…but these are SE Asian stars. Allow me to explain. I’ve been to most continents with the exception of Australia. Wonder why I’ve never seen the Australian blip on my radar…I digress. When traveling to se Asia, i.e. Vietnam, Thailand, Cambodia etc. one must travel down the cultural traditional route in order to truly experience the local flavors. To put it bluntly, that which you would experience as indigenous would be discreetly insulated from you. And believe you me, you don’t want that. What you want is the faint call of the early morning baguette guy reverberating from a small speaker attached to his bicycle. Uhmmm. The slow progression of motorbikes and mopeds as the morning ages. These are the things you’ll want not only to hear and see while you’re here, but those things are the delicacies that will stay with you within your memories of the place. The staff are young, but energetic and oh so polite and respectful. The rooms are spacious, clean and surprisingly modern in its aesthetics. Someone will ask so I’ll dispense with it now - elevators are modern, quiet and quick. What else would you want to know about a hotel?? It’s just a closet and shower because the world of discovery awaits you outside your doorsteps. About the shower and amenities - waterfall shower with separate hand attachment. Strong water pressure, and large sink and counter tops.and bidets. Everywhere in Asia’s, bidets. Might be strange at first, but next thing you know, some of you will be on Amazon before the trip is over. This particular hotel is a block from a market where you can see how the other half lives. Not better. Not worse. Just another half of the world in which you live but oblivious until now....
Read moreThis hotel wasn’t booked individually by me but was included as part of a Mekong tour. My initial impression was WOW so impressive - ignoring the smell of mould that hit your nostrils when you walked in. I was even more impressed to find I had been given a suite 😲 (which again stank of mould). Initial impressions started to dull a bit for a number of reasons but for what I paid for the whole trip, I’m certainly not complaining. If you are paying individually for this, here’s the not so good. Couldn’t get any hot water (mentioned in other reviews). The control panel over the bed which controlled lights, TV etc was challenging to say the least. Barely any English speaking staff and breakfast was nothing to get excited about (unless you are Asian). But the overriding issue would be the bad smell of mould everywhere. I should also mention there is a brand new rooftop pool which is very impressive with amazing city views. Food and drink prices were very good. Depends what you pay as to whether you rate this more...
Read moreThis hotel isn’t a four-star hotel. It doesn’t deserve their stars. The rooms are infected by cockroaches 🪳 in the bedroom and bathroom. NO WINDOWS IN THE ROOMS! My parents were on the 3rd floor, room 310, and there was a window but we couldn’t open it! The breakfast wasn’t good and enough for a hotel with this standing. No electricity in the morning after breakfast. The hotel was entirely without electricity also the elevators and it happened several times. We had a room on the 11th floor (room 1106), we couldn’t make it to the 11th floor from the Restaurant. The service was completely empty. We just had the luggage carried to the room. The staff doesn’t know where the rooms are on the floor. They aren’t understanding and they don’t find any solution!
We won’t book again in this hotel. AVOID THIS TERRIFIC HOTEL! Run away if you want to book.
It’s a lie advertisement about...
