Stayed here for 3 days , left this morning. I’m honestly bewildered having read the glowing reviews on this place. Check in was friendly and quick. We were then instructed to remove our shoes and put on a pair of shabby well used flimsy straw sandals. I hate doing this for hygiene reasons more than anything. Who knows what foot diseases previous people might have ? Then trying to climb 4 flights of steep stone steps carrying our own luggage with the sandals bending and falling off. I took them off immediately and wouldn’t wear them again. The room was clean , had large flat screen smart TV with Netflix etc. Very good. Air con- fridge - balcony - decent bathroom with shower. Very flimsy thin towels - only 2 bath towels not very big. The bed linen was poor quality. No room safety deposit box. A big negative for me was no tea & coffee facilities in room. The first place we’ve stayed at without these facilities and we’ve been travelling extensively since January. To have to go down 4 flights of stairs to get a tea or coffee then bring it back up 4 flights of stairs is not something you should be expected to do. The breakfast offering was extremely basic. Choice of eggs , bread - that was it - and some fruit on plates left out uncovered with fruit flies all over it. We only tried breakfast on one morning. We asked about motor scooters and were offered 2 very quickly at 400 VD per day. We took them out and both had very poor brakes and no rear lights at all. We gave them back upon our return to Hotel as they were unsafe. We were still charged for them even though we reported that they were not roadworthy. Really don’t think it’s acceptable to supply Guests with dangerous scooters to use. On our last night it was quite noisy with children running in and out and around the courtyard which some of the bedrooms overlook. This was at 9.45 pm and we had deliberately chosen to have an early night as we were leaving early in the morning. Couldn’t get to sleep because of screaming and shouting children with the noise echoing through the building. These children were not Guests. The building is quite inaccessible, having to use a narrow alleyway to and from the main Street. No one offers to help with luggage. |The place was clean , adequate bedroom and friendly people- but I wouldn’t go back and...
Read morePositives |Beautiful building |Wonderful staff|Large spacious clean rooms |Netflix flatscreen tv |Good shower comfortable bed|Excellent roof top pool | |Bad points |No room safe |No tea or coffee facilities in room |Poor breakfast just eggs and bread and fruit which was uncovered which was infested with fruit flies which put us off trying the lunch/dinner menu |Towels paper thin and didn’t absorb the water.|Children running around in the courtyard screaming at 21:45 which echos through the whole building and they didn’t appear to be Guests. |Overpriced scooters which were not road worthy (no back lights or back brake). Given the scooters empty and handed them back after a death run in to town with a full tank and still charged half a days rent. I’ve been an avid motorcyclist for 30 years however my friend isn’t so I wouldn’t take the risk. We then rented some road worthy scooters in town a lot cheaper who delivered them to the Villa/homestay.|Shoes/ flip flops had to be taken off on entry to the building and slippers to be worn which could carry any germ (athletes foot, veruccas or any other fungi from other people’s feet). |No help carry our luggage up the four flights, I carried my partners as he is 67 and not very fit in silly slippers which I eventually kicked off as they were a trip hazard only to the sound of the receptionist laughing as I did it||To get to the property you have to walk up an alley and to be blatantly honest it’s a little to far out with the hill to climb on the way back ||It could be very good with a bit of thought but as it is, it’s not for us ||I know this review is somewhat negative but it reflects our experience...
Read moreI cannot express how much I recommend the stay in this hotel. The family that runs it is lovely! We stayed there a month ago with our 2 year old daughter for about a week. The room was always very well cleaned and the staff polite. During the stay my husband got ill and spent his time in this hotel with high temperature. The owner (lady) was always ready to help and make our stay most comfortable. She also helped with taxis and tour. Because of my husband illness I was around the hotel with my daughter all the time, so even the owners daughters played with my little one, and the two boys that help around were there to chuck her a ball or just to laugh :) I also recommend the food here, which to be honest is the best in the area. It was nice when they fulfilled my request to make some boiled vegetables for my husband bad stomach. I will always come back to this stay...
