Cat Ba Discovery Restaurant — Restaurant in Hải Phòng

We went there after checking the reviews and since it was close to our hotel. We had a weird experience, as the lady who was taking the order seemed to have no idea about items on the menu, was checking and re-checking them and still she mixed it up and we only partially got what we ordered. Passion fruit juice and banh my sandwich was alright, although it's my first time ever trying banh my without coriander herb in it. My bf asked for mango smoothie with cream and chocolate and what came was at best mango with cream although not sure, definitely no chocolate... My pho bo came as a large bowl of soup with noodles and cabbage in it, no sight of meat though... After pointing it out I got meat in it but still the taste was way worse than any pho bo I ever tried in Vietnam. And again, the coriander herb is missing. On the positive side, the food was fresh and hot, but the rest was kinda disappointing...Would not go...

Went out looking for fresh crab since it’s our last night on the island. The Discovery owners went above and beyond purchasing a crab from a vendor down the street! They even turned the fans on and facing us as soon as we walked in. The honey, ginger, and garlic sauce was amazing on both the crab and the tilapia. They were also the only place I’ve found with Hai Phong beer stocked. One of the best meals we’ve had...

The food was simply the best one I had in Vietnam so far. You can chose between many many different options and all I tried was pretty nice. As well the owner is a very nice person and he gives you a warm welcome and familiar atmosphere even if the optic is not the best.
