My 17-year-old son and I absolutely love Hoi An Ancient House & Spa — it’s full of authentic Vietnamese charm and feels like a little oasis away from the bustle of the ancient town. The rooms are spacious, beautifully decorated in traditional style, and surrounded by lush tropical gardens that make it peaceful and private.
The pool area is beautiful, with plenty of umbrellas and sun lounges, and it never feels crowded — a perfect place to relax after exploring.
It’s about a 25-minute walk to the ancient town, which we actually love because it means you can enjoy the quiet side of Hoi A while still being close to all the action. There are plenty of local restaurants and mini marts nearby and the free bikes make getting around super easy. The hotel also runs a regular shuttle to both the ancient town and the beach, which is really convenient.
The staff are what make this place truly special. Nothing is ever too much trouble — everyone is warm and welcoming. A special mention to Anh on reception for being so lovely and helpful, and to Minh, who always greeted us with the biggest smile. Minh gave us great advice, helped us whenever we needed anything, and his positive energy was infectious.
One of the highlights of our stay was the free traditional rice noodle workshop, hosted by Minh. It was held by the pool and included a visit to the 200-year-old ancient house on the property where the noodles are made — fascinating to see how they’re produced and to learn that they’re still distributed to local restaurants in Hoi An today.
We’ve stayed here twice now — both times for 10 days — and honestly wouldn’t stay anywhere else when we return to Hoi An. It’s a truly...

Read moreThis hotel had a mix of great service and poor amenities. Firstly, the entire hotel is not accessible, there is no lift and breakfast is on the 4th floor. None of the walkways are covered, and given Vietnam has some terrible rainy monsoon seasons, the walkways become drenched and so did we walking to our room. The hotel however did provide umbrellas. The stairs as well we're not fully enclosed, being around a courtyard so when it rained, all of the stairs were drenched, being a safety hazard as we had to walk up and down wet stairs. The pool had apparently a happy hour every day for drinks but no staff around to attend to this. All of the pool towels as well had large holes in them, looking like moths or something had been through them. The hotel is also opposite a restaurant that has a drum performance into the evening that can be heard from the rooms. The room had a very firm uncomfortable bed, it took a while to get used to. The bathroom had a bath that was surrounded by rocks, so if you wanted to get in, you had to climb over rocks. Also there was a large window from the bath looking into other hotel rooms, that was not frosted at all, it was an odd placement and again to close the blinds to give yourself privacy you would need to stand over piles of rocks.
Now, the positives, the staff here have gone out of their way to assist in any way possible. They have a cold towel ready for you on your return back to the hotel, and they are ready to assist you with anything you may need. The staff took me into the kitchen to assist me with heating up leftovers I had ordered previously and were very kind and helpful. All of the staff...
