The Mood Hoi An. This place is a little bit special, it is well maintained and very clean. My wife and I went for a week and wished we had booked more. It is located away from the main/old town in a quiet location, about a 5 minute taxi ride (at a cost of around 5 AUD) or if you wish you can walk to the old town in around 25 minutes. But what makes a hotel and a holiday is the staff at the hotel and the staff at this place are just amazing. They are friendly, helpful, knowledgeable and best of all you can see they all work happily together. So to name some of the staff we interacted with and their rolls in the hotel, in no particular order. Lily is the restaurant manager and has the place running to perfection. One night we took advantage of the Honeymoon meal as it was our anniversary. It was the highlight of our holiday. A 7 course meal with French sparkling wine, our own BBQ chef all in our own straw pergola lit with candles, Lily made our anniversary a memorable experience. If you need to request anything special Lily will probably be able to help you. Andy is on reception during the day and is a mountain of help, and his English is very good. We got some good tips for getting around Hoi an. He gave us good advice about the Memories show, on seating and where to sit. Sunny is also on reception during the day, she is a very happy smiley girl. She also gave us some good advice about visiting places and also where to go to get some basic supplies. David and Henry run the bar in the evening and Henry also assists in the restaurant. David makes a good cocktail especially the Mojito, they do happy hour from 4.00pm till 6.00pm. David is the head chef, we did a cooking class with him. He took us to the hotel herb garden to explain all the herbs they grow. We tasted some and it was an interesting experience, we then went on to cook a three course lunch. I am very interested in cooking so was looking forward to it. He made the lesson a lot of fun explained a lot about Vietnamese food and why they use certain herbs. I would highly recommend doing the cooking class. Linda is a great talent for to hotel as she seems to be able make great cocktails, cook in the kitchen and managed the restaurant in Lily’s absence of an evening. Linda again has a great bubbly personality and is always smiling. Emily is in the massage parlor and does just about the best massage I have ever had. She had just the right amount of pressure in her fingers, if you’re going to have a massage get Emily to do it. The food at the hotel was amazing, you must try the deep fried sweet and sour wontons. It is an open wonton fried and then a sweet and sour pork, prawn, sauce is added to the top. The staff put over an almost family atmosphere. We got home and have started to look at going back...
Read moreEverything about Moodhoian Resort is exceptional. I originally booked for 3 nights but fell in love with the tranquility, view from my bed (or almost anywhere else on the grounds), warmth of the staff, and all of the amenities that I cancelled my previous plans and ended up staying 8 days. SPA If you want the best massage you've had in your life, including in Thailand, Emily will work her magic and leave your body more relaxed than you ever thought it could be. I had 2 body massages and a foot massage during my stay and each treatment was better than the last. She even gave me tea made with fresh herbs from her own garden and a foot soak before each treatment. She's beyond spectacular and delivers a body-mind experience that can't be beat!
HOSPITALITY I got to know much of the staff by name, as they make sure you feel welcome. It took no time for me to look forward to seeing the smiles of Amy and Sunny, two of the most lovely people I've ever met. I also appreciate Lilly, who takes the time to make sure guests' mornings are off to a great start, answer questions, and carry out even special requests with a smile.
MEALS/ROOM SERVICE You won't be able to get over how delicious breakfast is. There's such a huge, fresh spread of both American and Vietnamese foods served daily that many would call it a feast. Some of the ingredients come from the garden on the grounds. There's a made-to-other omelette station, usually manned by Chef David, on the patio overlooking the spectacular grounds. One of the things I really appreciated was the fruit-infused 'detox waters' that were served each day. There's also a restaurant with a delicious, varied menu. They even serve vegetarian items that are prepared with perfectly cooked vegetables. Did I mention there's room service if you don't want to go down to dine?
LANDSCAPE In a word: breathtaking. If you love nature, there's no better place to be. It's so serene and picturesque that you can't help but be renewed by taking it all in. The hotel is located beside a beautiful, green rice field. Ducks live nearby so you can see them if you just look out of the window or go on the deck and feed them. You will also be able to settle in for the evening and awaken to the sounds of nature. It's an escape to paradise here.
ADDITIONAL PERKS I ENJOYED -same-day laundry service -room cleaned every day -many nearby food delivery options via Grab, even vegetarian -Grab rides always...
Read moreWe booked a 6 night package at Moodhoian through Luxury Escapes which included transfers, breakfast, 3 meals, 1 hour of drinks each night, a cooking class and 2 massages per person. The hotel itself is located outside the centre of old town, which might not be ideal for some, but it is only a few minutes away by car or scooter and for us it was worth staying a little further out for the peace and quiet of being close to the rive and rice paddy fields. Our room had a lovely view overlooking the pool, was serviced daily and had good air-con. Breakfast and the meals we had were quite simple, but they did the job. There are daily activities on offer, one of which was Qi Gong (a great way to start the day). The pool was large and we never had any trouble getting a spot. There are push bikes available and we enjoyed morning rides to the close by cafes which overlook the rice paddy fields. The best part about the hotel would be the staff. Lily made us a priority throughout our stay, always welcomed us with a smile and regularly checked in with us to offer assistance. Andy and the reception team greeted us warmly each time we arrived back at the hotel and were helpful organising activities. We enjoyed many cocktails with David at the bar and will miss his friendly smile (and his caipirinhas 🍹). The restaurant service provided by the team was attentive. Henry in particular was great and always so friendly. One of the highlights of our trip was the cooking class we did with David. He was very knowledgeable and made it a fun experience. Our massage therapists were lovely and well trained. Overall our stay at Moodhoian was an enjoyable and relaxing one, and for the low package price paid (with inclusions) we would...
