We traveled as a big group and this was by far a better option than staying at a hotel. For the 12 nights we stayed there at $188/night, the 4 rooms would equate to around $47/night per room. Although the price was cheap, the rooms were not. These rooms rival those of high-end hotels with Toto bathroom fixtures and Elotrolux appliances. However, the villa did seem a bit "used" since there were scruff marks on the walls and one part of the wall looked like it may have had water damage due to the discoloration of it.||||The double villa we stayed at contained 4 "real" rooms. On the second level, there were 3 rooms: 2 rooms that shared a full bath and a MBR containing a private bath with double sinks. There was also a lounge area outside with a TV. On the third level, there was a single bedroom with a private bath and also a big office. You could also walk out to a big balcony if you wanted some fresh air. There was also a half bath in the hallway and an extra storage room. The first level contained a living room with a TV, a full kitchen with all modern appliances including a dishwasher, and a maid's quarter next to a half bath. You could also walk outside to relax on the patio. The washer and dryer were oddly placed outside in the back inside a little nook. I didn't particularly like this since when you remove clean clothes, you could potentially drop it onto the tiled floor.||||To be honest, this place was so big, we didn't make much use out of all the available space such as the balcony, patio, half baths, and office. It was really nice to have a washer and dryer, which meant that you didn't have to pack as much clothes on a long trip from the US. Although the water was not potable, it was safe to shower and use for brushing your teeth. If you needed bottled water for drinking, the staff was at your beck and call, just pick up the phone and they deliver it to you free of charge. Although this was advertised as a self-service place, I found it to be very much like a hotel. When I needed transformers for my electronics, the staff provided them for me as well as extra towels and toiletries. The only day where the house was not cleaned was on Sundays. I didn't miss any of the "hotel" features since I rarely use them. E.g., laundry service is much cheaper to do yourself and the results are better as well. When I had it done the last time in 2006 at a hotel, the clothes didn't come out the way it does in the US. With the onsite washer and dryer, it did this time. And although there was no room service, you can easily call the staff to order food and the local merchants would deliver them to you. I bet if you didn't want to do your own laundry, the staff would somehow get it done for you. They were excellent -- friendly and accommodating.||||Now, for the bad. Although the villa is located in a kind of oasis of Saigon, away from the frenetic pace of the city, the surrounding park and restaurant were REALLY LOUD. The restaurant nearby had either karaoke or live music blaring out of its establishment virtually every night until around 11 p.m.. Then every morning at 6 a.m., there would be loud traditional music playing to people doing Tai Chi in the park next door. It made for unrestful sleep to say the least. Unfortunately, I don't think the villa can do anything about its neighbor but it...
Read moreIf you're looking for somewhere to stay away from the hustle and bustle of a city that is always on the go then Ha Do Villas is a good choice. It is in District 10, not in the frenetic District 1 where the tourists abound. However, it is a mere 10-20 mins away ( depending on traffic).@ a cost of about VN 80,000 (AU$4.50 US$3.70) by taxi which are readily available and come within minutes of the call from the friendly and helpful reception staff. We stayed in a 3 bedroom tube house near reception area and opposite the pool. The following description is of our particular unit and I would advise detailed questioning of your particular room configuration at time of booking if stairs are an issue for you. The bedrooms are nicely spaced with their own bathrooms not as an ensuite but rather as a separate room next to the bedroom. The shower is over the bath in the second level bathrooms and may cause problems getting in and out if you are physically compromised. A little loss of privacy going back and forth but we were a family of 5 and rarely saw each other at these times. 3 levels with a flight of 20 stairs immediately on entering the front door to get to first level of lounge and kitchen and 1 bedroom and bathroom. Another flight of 20 stairs to 2 bedroom and 2 bathrooms level. Finally another 20 stairs to top level of a very hot and steamy laundry area. All these stairs may be a problem for the physically compromised as well. This hot upper area has no impact on the nicely air conditioned living and sleeping areas all of which have plenty of air con units to keep you cool day and night. Cleaning is done daily with towels replaced as well. We found the ironing board and iron in the cupboard of the bedroom on the first level. ||So, in summary, if you don' t mind stairs, if you like a certain amount of space between you and your fellow travellers, if you like to be a little away from hustle and bustle but close enough for easy access, and, you are not a big fan of hotels but like the support of reception staff to help with all your enquiries and demands, then Ha Do would suit you. Don't know about all those comments about Karaoke noise, it was only noticeable outside, inside the apartment we...
Read moreI have no ideas about the modern beautifull villas in the center of this city. I their enviroment and their convenience, that's the reason why I choose this villas.||I'll have a special occsion, and I know it's a little annoying. So last month,I ( myself) lready came there to ask for reservation on 18/4-20/4 and I did clearly explain my special occsion to the one - the male reception that day. He answered that they had villa availble, and I could use villa as I purpose. He was a nice guy at that time, He also showed what they wanted for my occasion, they just wanted the list of people who join in this time and the schedule of time in, time out. I thought it was perfect for me! Thanks God! The reception guy also advised me take more time to decide book or not.||Yesterday I came back to give them deposit because of my big love for them! Also did this male reception receive my booking, my deposit and insisted that my booking was sure!||What the great shock today, they mobiled me many times, but I was at work, They called my husband instead and informed him that they run fully book on my period of stay! My husband tried to text me. When I knowed it, I called them back and ask them for explanation. The receptionist explained that they denied our booking not because of their fully book, it's because they dont want me celebrate my occasion. How ridiculous did they explain to their customer! I was not there one time, and it's not that I didnt tell them about my situation. But how can they explain their silly reason to me like this! It made me dissapointed! I dont stay in their villa ever, so I dont comment about the villas, I just want to make clear about their integrity and their manager's politeness. I asked their manager call me back. She called but without any apology, she just tried to claim this issue to the male reception and then to us ( me and my husband). How can their words and their actions be not match. She also said that they just allow me celebrate my occasion if I make booking to stay with them more than a week.||That's the way they treat local and short-stay customer. Be careful with this kind of service. That's...
