As frequent travelers (our TripAdvisor history speaks for itself), we have had some experience with all sorts of hotels. This was our very first time in Vietnam, arriving from Shanghai, Hong Kong, and Hanoi, before heading to Singapore. We chose to stop in Cam Ranh for 8 nights – 4 at The Westin and 4 at another similarly priced hotel, just to compare.||||We started with The Westin, a brand-new resort that has just turned one year old – and you can see that everywhere. The design is contemporary and impeccable, the finishes are of good quality, and the earthy tones (greys, beiges, soft browns) blend perfectly with the lush, manicured grounds. Whoever designed this place deserves real praise. The property is full of palm trees and vibrant flowers, and the cleanliness is beyond what we thought possible.||||Our room was spacious, stylish, and extremely comfortable, with one of the best beds we’ve ever slept in – sleep quality here is top-notch. The bathroom was also big, clean and well thought out, while the large TV was a nice touch. ||||The hotel has a beachfront location, with a grassy area shaded by palm trees, fitted with both beach loungers and back-garden beds – offering a view rarely matched in our travels.||||The beach itself is pristine, the sea is warm and inviting, and the landscaped greenery is kept immaculate at all times. Even in photos, you cannot truly capture the beauty of the colors and scenery.||||We booked on a half-board basis. Breakfast exceeded expectations – I enjoy a wide variety of Western dishes, while my wife prefers Asian cuisine, and both of us found plenty to love. From perfectly cooked eggs (Benedict, over-easy, omelets) to a diverse fruit selection, fresh juices of all kinds, and coconuts freshly opened right in front of you, it was all outstanding. Dinner could be either buffet or a set menu – we opted for the à la carte set menu and every dish we tried was delicious and beautifully presented.||||For lunch, we enjoyed snacks at the beach restaurant – the salmon tartare and fried squid were both excellent, made even better by the unmatched ocean view.||||The staff is young and always eager to help. If you wanted to be really picky, you might notice that some are still gaining experience, but every single one is genuinely kind and willing to help, and with just a little bit of patience you can get absolutely anything you need.||||The buggy service around the resort works flawlessly – you can catch one from the lobby or call one from the beach and it arrives within couple of minutes. Even walking around the resort is a pleasure: shady palm-lined paths, vibrant flowers, and refreshing greenery everywhere.||||We didn’t get to stay in the villas, but from what we saw, they are absolutely stunning. Our room in Building 1 for the first four nights was wonderful, and honestly, from what we’ve observed, it’s hard to find a bad view here.||||After our initial four nights, we moved to another resort – and unfortunately, quickly realized that while it was also in Cam Ranh and in a similar price range, the overall experience could not compare. With regret and apologies, we asked if they could help us return to The Westin.||||And this is where Mrs. Uyen Nguyen Sophia, the Westin’s Front Office Desk Manager truly shone. When we left the first time, she had kindly given us her business card. We called her, even though it was quite late in the evening, asking if there was any chance to get a room. Neither the Bonvoy app, nor Booking.com showed any availability for the weekend. She tried everything possible, and finally told us, with complete honesty, that she had only one room left – but with a very late checkout, around 7 PM. If we could wait, she would gladly offer it to us.||We are deeply grateful for her help in facilitating our return, and this time, we are staying in Building 2 with a stunning sea view – and believe me, photos don’t do it justice.||||We are now spending our last two days in this paradisiacal setting already planning our return next August. The Westin is a gem not only because of its beautiful design, cleanliness, and freshness, but also because of the quality of the guests, civilised and respectful, contributing to the hotel’s relaxed and pleasant atmosphere.||||We highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Vietnam, whether it’s your first or tenth time. You will find a peaceful, luxurious, and truly special experience here, with a team that will do everything possible to make your stay unforgettable – just as...
Read moreFirst of all, this is relatively new property in Cam Ranh (Nha Trang. I believe it opened the doors in May or June 2024 so at the moment we stayed there it was just over a year old (new).||Let's start with the good things, it's a very nice and new property in Cam Ranh. You can see everything is almost brand new. It's a 10 minute drive from the airport (for your information, it takes about 40 minutes to get in Nha Trang). We are Marriott Bonvoy Platinum Elite members but during our stay the suites weren't available for upgrades. Instead of that we got the nicest room of the 'normal' deluxe rooms. The room was on the end of the hallway and was much bigger than the standard deluxe rooms and it was overlooking straight at the ocean.||There is a huge swimming pool, which my kids (4 and 7yo) absolutely loved. It also has enough sunbeds on both sides of the pool. The kids club is also very useful and nice for the little kids. You can bring them over there and the staff will take care of them. Very useful if you want to go to the spa or something like that. There is a program for the kids with various activities every hour and it changes every day. My girls absolutely loved this place and especially the staff at the kids club since they took care of them very well. Breakfast was also very nice, with a lot of variety. You could even get a fresh ,cold coconut, which was very nice. Breakfast can be very crowdy though so in the lobby there is information about peak hours etc. for the breakfast so you can avoid them. You can also notice that there are a lot of Koreans who stay at the property.||Well, what could be better. First I start at the check in desk/reception. There are 3 check in desks, when we arrived all 3 of the desks were occupied with a total of 7(!) employees (2, 2 and 3). To me it looked like that these employees were very young and inexperienced and they were clueless on what they were doing. Every time they had to ask for help to each other, therefore the check in took very long. It doesn't look right when you have 7 employees behind 3 check in desks.||We also had a lunch at their main restaurant. The restaurant wasn't very crowdy at that point. My wife had a Banh Xeo and I had a "Cam Ranh Sandwich". Unfortunately it takes long before everything got served. Besides that, the sandwich was very hard. My wife also ordered a mango ice cream, but again also the restaurant employees are clueless. It took forever to get served and after a while they came to us and asked if we meant the lollipop mango ice cream (how embarrassing?). Come on, you can't serve a lollipop icecream for 160.000 VND. Ofcourse we ordered the ice cream scope (lollipops aren't even on their menu). We also noticed that it takes very long before they clean up a table of customers who finished and left the restaurant. A table a few tables behind us was uncleaned for more than 30 minutes. Of course there were many other free tables but it looks so unprofessional when customers already left long ago but their table is still uncleaned. It looked like there was no supervision in the restaurant or a senior employee.||We also had dinner in the restaurant later that day. We noticed everything went much smoother, probably because Steve Braun (the Food and Beverage Director at The Westin Cam Ranh) was present over there and he was helping and directing the employees what to do etc. ||Pros:|- Nice, new property|- Spacious rooms|- Very nice kids club|- 2 pools (especially the bigger is very nice)|- Lot of variety at the breakfast||Cons|- Check in staff not professional|- Restaurant staff not professional|- Beach access from the main building is not very close (take a buggy!)|- No club lounge||Would I stay here again? Probably yes, but in a few years when the staff is more trained and...
Read moreYesterday marked the third day of our stay, and unfortunately, we can confidently say that this resort is not suitable for Muslims or for guests with dietary restrictions. |Over 90% of the food includes pork, and in many cases, this is not clearly labeled. For example, some pâtés and filled buns did not indicate they contained pork. Moreover, the same serving utensils and dishware are used for pork and beef, which is highly inappropriate for guests following halal or restricted diets.|We chose this hotel based on the promise of healthy and balanced food, but in reality, the meals are overwhelmingly greasy, fried, and carb-heavy. About 90% of all dishes are fried, dripping with oil, and lacking in freshness or nutrition. The buffet is dominated by pastries, processed items, and oily foods, with minimal variety or fresh options.||As we are the only Muslim family in the hotel we made a clear request at reception for my mother, who requires a special diet with no fried food and pork for sure. We were told a chef would meet with us to arrange alternative meals. However, no one followed up, and there was zero response the next day — a clear sign that guest concerns are ignored.||We also booked All-Inclusive, but it is deeply misleading. At lunch, you’re limited to just three items: for example, one appetizer, one salad, and one main or soup. That’s it. No second servings, no flexibility. When asked for more, the staff simply respond, “not allowed.” This is not what All-Inclusive should be.||On top of this, the hotel offers a paid à la carte restaurant, where a simple salmon dish costs 750,000 VND (~30 USD). That’s right — if the All-Inclusive doesn’t satisfy you (and it won’t), you’re expected to pay separately to have a proper meal. For that price, you’d expect to be dining in one of the restaurants in LA — but here it’s just one tiny portion of salmon. The portions overall are very small, not satisfying for adult guests.||Even room service is limited — they ask how many items you want and seem reluctant to give more than two lotions or amenities.||To be fair, the rooms, beach, and general resort grounds are clean, and housekeeping does a good job. But the restaurant is full of flies, the toilets are unclean, and the dining experience is far below expectations.|❗️Conclusion:||This hotel is NOT suitable for Muslims, nor for anyone expecting real All-Inclusive service or diverse, healthy food. Guest concerns are ignored, food is repetitive and unhealthy, and value for money is poor. We deeply regret choosing this resort, and...
