After reading reviews and seeing photos off this hotel I expected to have a very different experience to what was portrayed. It made me realise one should be careful about the authenticity of reviews. Given I was offered an incentive to write a glowing review... hence I decided it’s only fair to give the true experience so others can make a decision based upon fact ||It is a very quaint boutique hotel with nice rooms... and garden but that’s where it stops!||. When I arrived I was shocked at the bad area it was in. A long way from the beach. Motorcycles blocking the doorway so you could barely get in. I was asked to “hand over my passport” which they would “keep” for the duration of my stay... which is actually against international law to demand such a thing. It was extremely uncomfortable ||Then They said they wanted me to pay up front, but when I gave them my credit card, they said their credit card machine was not working, and wanted me to give him my credit card to go somewhere else to put the payment through. ||I felt even more uncomfortable with all of this! ||In the morning he insisted they march me over to the bank to draw the cash out which cost me more, the room I was given had no proper window and no tv. They said they would bring me a tv in five minutes but it never arrived ||Nor did the milk I requested ||You are expected to take your shoes off before you go in but I have a back issue and can’t unless I sit down.. an inappropriate expectation as we are international travellers ||The next morning there was no milk or butter at breakfast and it was very limited and nothing filled up ||I booked a tour for the next day, arrived at 9 am and he told me he had not booked it. He wanted me to book it through his contact at some ridiculous price! All the places to eat nearby are filthy and sub standard, however there is a nice cafe ( no food) next door ||The only redeeming factor this hotel has is Jason who is the helper there who is extremely sweet ||I would not recommend this hotel if you are an English speaking traveller ||I wrote to them before I got there and asked if they had English speaking guests. They assured me they did ||The only other english speaking guests that were there the entire time I was there didn’t want to talk! I have been to 94 countries and this is the worst treatment I have ever encountered... congratulations! As a solo woman traveller it is important to feel safe and not to feel...
