Because of the high price (compared to other homestays) and good reviews we had high expectations, unfortunately they weren‘t met at all: the bathroom was not clean + there was rust all over the mirror there was a bad smell in the room there were 2 cockroaches, one in the bathroom and one on the bed there were big stains on the sheets we didn’t have a blanket (we only realized it when we came back at night so we couldn’t ask for one) some of the power sockets were loose, didn’t seem very safe to use them the pool was dirty The worst thing happened when we wanted to check out: There was a misunderstanding about our late checkout. We‘re used to the hotel staff telling us the checkout time right at the beginning, they didn’t do that and later on we forgot to ask again. We booked a night train so we checked out in the afternoon and they charged us 30% extra. We told them that we’re very confused cause we didn’t know that. The guy that we talked to got very rude, he started yelling at me (he didn’t just have a loud voice, he actually yelled at me in a really aggressive way). I asked him to stop yelling at me and if we could settle for a compromise but he just kept on yelling at me. I‘ve been to many places around the world but NEVER EVER has anything like that happened to me before, I‘ve never been yelled at by a staff member! In some reviews you can read that the staff there is helpful and friendly but we didn’t experience that at all: First of all: why didn’t they tell us in the beginning? Secondly: a lady (receptionist?) asked us about our plans for the day, we told her that we‘re going on a scooter tour and coming back in the afternoon to leave for the night train - why didn’t she say anything about the late checkout fee? And third: there were a lot of other staff members sitting/standing around when this guy yelled at us. NOT A SINGLE ONE OF THEM came to help us, they were all just watching it quietly. This was definitely the worst accommodation I‘ve...
Read moreWe were treated very kind by the owner and staff. We got two free craft beers on arrival. My partners enjoyed it so much, the owner gave him another free one. Everyone is very approachable, friendly & helpful. We had free bikes to roam around the local area which was very beautiful. When we left, the owner gave us a snack & water for the trip. But unfortunately our stay was not all great. In winter, the view is not as advertised. It's very dull & grey everywhere you look. I got food poisoning here & I was unable to get out of the bed for most of the trip. The beds are very uncomfortable for the price they ask. I got sore shoulders and restless sleep for 3 nights, wishing i would recover quickly to move to another city. The bed frame was made from bamboo, so it squeaked constantly when me or my partner moves, waking up the other person all the time. They also seem to enjoy Karaoke at night. I understand people work very hard and only have a couple hours at night for themselves. But very bad for people trying to get some sleep at night as the rooms are pretty much bamboo sheds with no way to protect u from the outside noise. I really enjoyed the people and the hospitality though. Wishing the best...
Read moreFirst, the location is beautiful, with views of limestone karst mountains and lake. It’s also in a more quiet and charming area away from hustle and bustle of town. The staff were all friendly, but the star of the show was definitely Chuć, who was kind, genuine, efficient, and always looking to make my stay as pleasant as possible. As a bonus, she also spoke great English.
The place has more of a family feel (there were usually kids playing in the pool) rather than a backpacker vibe, but it was fun interacting with the Vietnamese guests using Google Translate.
Breakfast options were chicken pho or eggs with bread, served with delicious Vietnamese coffee or tea.
Rooms were nice and modern. Get one of the options with the giant soaking bathtub!
The little wooden bridge that goes to the little island in front of the hotel has sort of collapsed, but you can still walk across it. There wasn’t much to do or see on that island anyway, so I think the bridge was mostly there for looks and photo opportunities. Hopefully they’ll have it repaired by the time...
