I can't say enough great things about this homestay! Definitely one of the best if not the best that I have stayed in.
Prior to arrival, I asked several questions via email and received prompt responses. I arrived at 4:30am from Phong Nha (there's only a night bus available) and the owner provided a room for two other guests and me, as we had all booked the dorms but could not go in yet due to the hour. He was so accommodating and let us sleep in a private, very nice room with its own bathroom that you would pay more than the dorms for.
I was awake for the sunrise and was in awe at the stunning landscape surrounding the property. There are buffalo and cows that graze the fields in front that you can also take a stroll through.
The homestay itself is only over a month old and has been fully booked with good reason! The owner formerly worked at the Hilton in Hanoi as a chef for the wedding department before deciding to create Green Mountain. There is so much love and creativity in the design and he really cares about ensuring the best experience for his guests. He lives here with his parents, wife, and two kids who gave us a super cute short performance on their small flutes during dinner time.
The dorm beds are wide and comfortable with extra large storage lockers underneath, curtains, an outlet, and private night light. Bathrooms are stocked with toilet paper, shampoo, soap, and bath gel and some of the sinks are outside with the mountains behind you as you look in the mirror.
There are bicycles and motorbikes for rent, and a shuttle that comes and picks you up right at the homestay to take you to Hanoi (maybe other destinations but I didn't ask). He will also provide a map of locations to visit in the area.
In June-July, he said the lily pads are green and the lotus flowers are in a colorful full bloom.
Breakfast is delicious and balanced, and he makes his own pineapple jam with a touch of cinnamon, star anise, and a secret ingredient to make it truly unique! He also serves lunch and dinner at reasonable prices, full of flavor. The pancakes are addictive! There are also power outlets next to some of the tables which have been very useful for sitting outside and having long conversations with other guests. The music played in the dining area is relaxing.
Overall, 10/10 rating, I would recommend people of all ages and backgrounds to come stay here for a...
Read moreDespite having seen this Homestay online before booking, I was pleasantly surprised when we arrived. It is beautiful! Upon arriving, we were greeted by a lush garden surrounding a refreshing pool. We were received by Hoa, the hostess, who was friendly and helpful. Her English isn’t great but we communicated very well and easily with translation apps. The Homestay was so lovely and the host family so delightful that within our first day, we decided to extend our stay from 3 to 5 nights; luckily for us, there was availability! We were able to rent a scooter right at the Homestay and Hoa helped us with our other needs, like laundry and a car to the train station. I would be remiss not to mention the breakfast that is provided every morning… oh my goodness! Breakfast alternated between ingredients for egg banh mi and crêpes with banana, honey and chocolate sauce. Both breakfasts were accompanied by a beautiful platter of fresh fruit and of course, the best coffee in the world! (Upon discovering that we love pho, Hoa offered to serve us her family recipe for breakfast the next morning. Wow! I was not feeling well the next morning but my husband enjoyed it. Later in the day, Hoa brought me a bowl to help me feel better from my cold. How kind is that?) Would I stay here again? YES! We met some wonderful people, were comfortable and felt safe, and the surroundings were...
Read moreGreen Mountain Homestay is, located in Trang An and in a perfect position to stay within the amazing environment of the area and close to the main attractions. The Homestay is nestled in the nature and the scenery is simply amazing, You will feel good any time you spend time here. You can rest or enjoy your breakfast with a stunning view in front of you and surrounded by a magic landscape, or you can just rest outside your room in a beautiful natural environment. Rooms are great, super cosy and clean: 5/5. Breakfast quality is average, 3/5. Scooters are rented by the accomodation and it is great that they have them readily available upon arrival (also early morning), however the scooters' quality needs an improvement (e.g. to fix proper front lights in the one used to drive safely after the sunset). The accomodation is a very good option to stay in the area of Trang An, far from the chaos, but close to all attractions of the Ninh Bình area. You certainly need a scooter to easily move and enjoy the area. Trang An boat tour just at 5 mins and Múa Cave at 15 mins distance by scooter, while Tam Coc is about 20 mins and this is all great points to consider which make the Homestay a great...
