Read moreWhen we went: 5 nights end of May to start of June 2025
Who went: 2 adults, 2 children (3 year old and 10month baby)
Service: 10/10 • All staff were exceptionally friendly, helpful, and polite. They were clearly well-trained in delivering luxury-level service. • As bilingual speakers of English and Vietnamese, we found communication with the staff seamless. Despite some negative reviews, we personally found their English to be more than adequate. • The staff were wonderful with our children, engaging with them warmly and effectively. As parents, this made a big difference—our kids felt genuinely welcome and comfortable throughout our stay. • Although we didn’t use room service, the staff kindly surprised us with a cake for my husband's birthday. A heartfelt thank you for the thoughtful gesture!
Property: 8/10 • The hotel’s reception area is expansive, with plenty of seating available for guests to rest throughout anytime of the day. While it is an open-air space without air-conditioning, the high ceilings and generous layout help keep the area naturally cool and comfortable. • When booking, I was aware that the hotel is located in the northern part of the island. While this may feel somewhat isolated for some, we specifically chose it for its proximity to the theme parks—it’s only about a 10–15 minute drive, making it incredibly convenient. • The hotel grounds and landscaping are beautifully maintained. That said, I did notice lots of mealy bugs on the frangipani trees—hopefully they’ll be treated soon to preserve the garden’s beauty. • The beach is stunning, with plenty of lounge chairs and towels readily available. Due to the size of the property, walking to the beach can take some time if your room is situated near the main entrance (about 5–10 minutes). Ours was located closer to the beach, so it was just a quick 2-minute walk. • There are two main pools, both relatively shallow—you can stand comfortably in the deepest areas (I’m 175 cm tall). This seems thoughtfully designed with safety in mind, as the resort caters to families. The oceanfront pool features a dedicated children’s pool, jacuzzis, and wading areas—perfect for our 10-month-old to crawl and play in. • One downside is that floaties must be rented at a rather steep rate of 200,000 VND per hour. Pools close at 7 PM, just after sunset, which is entirely reasonable for safety, especially considering there are no lifeguards on duty in the dark. As an Australian accustomed to strict water safety standards, I see this as a responsible and commendable decision by the hotel.
Extras & activities: 8/10 • The gym is fully equipped and well-maintained. • The children’s room provides a wide range of activities, including both complimentary and paid options, making it a great space for kids of all ages. Our toddler enjoyed making paper flowers with the teachers onsite. Thank you for your services! • The games room includes three gaming stations and a separate board game area. However, we recommend adding a wider selection of board games, as the current variety is quite limited. • Having visited Phu Quoc before, we’ve noticed that water sports are generally limited. This may be due to the rougher conditions on the northern beaches, but on calm days, it would be great to see options like kayaking offered—with adequate lifeguard supervision for safety. • A small but disappointing detail: the floaties by the pool are not complimentary. It’s a shame to see them sitting unused in the sun. Offering them free of charge would greatly enhance the guest experience, especially for families with...
Read moreWe went to Phu Quoc for 4 nights and stayed at the beautiful Crown Plaza Phu Quoc Starbay and we would love to go back!
From the moment we arrived until the minute we left, all the staff were so professional and friendly.
This is our 3rd time to Vietnam, as we just love this country and Vietnamese people are so friendly.
We usually go on tours when we travel in Asia. This was our first trip where we just stayed at the resort the entire time because it had everything we needed and was just so wonderful.
There are 2 restaurants on site that serve delicious and reasonably priced food: Horizons and Amber Sands Beach Club.
I was so impressed that the executive chef ,Le Minh Sang, was checking out the breakfast buffet and took the time to ask me if I had found food to eat and to let him know if I needed anything. I think this chef really cares about the guests and their experience as his staff are proof of his great leadership and example. The whole staff provided such great service with a smile the whole time we were there. This is not something we typically see at large hotels/resorts.
Breakfast was always busy, but the wait staff were on top of it and always had a smile. Each morning they would take our order of coffee. I asked for their recommendation of Vietnamese coffee and it was delicious! Ngoc and Frank were super friendly and had great customer service.
Breakfast buffet was good and had: Korean, Chinese, Vietnamese, American, and European food. There's something for everyone and the hot dishes changed every day.
We ate lunch and dinner at both restaurants on site and everything was good. The presentation of our meals at Horizons was something you would expect at a 5 star resort. The pizza was delicious. We enjoyed our desserts in the evening, lounging on the bean bag chairs overlooking the ocean at Amber Sands Beach Club.
The pool was beautiful with views of the ocean and fun for kids to play. This is one of the few resorts we have been to that had a small toddler pool and play area, floats for rental ( 150,000 VND for a regular tube and I think 200,000 VND for a giant Unicorn tube).
We had a premium room with 2 double beds and as a family of 3, it was the perfect size. We had partial ocean view and it was beautiful.
The resort had it's own private beach that was very clean and you can tell they take care of their property.
Near the pool and beach there is a small basketball court, archery, badminton, and beach volleyball. Indoors they had a play room for kids with wall climbing and also a separate room with a couple large screen tvs for video games.
The resort provides a free shuttle a few times in the evening to Grand World (5min bus ride). We went a couple nights to Grand World to check it out and have dinner. We missed the bus to go back on 2 different occasions. So once we took a grab back to the resort for about 30 VND and another night we just walked back which took maybe 15min.
Our 10 year old son said 4 nights was not enough and he didn't want to leave. It was just what we needed to release some stress and enjoy family time.
We have traveled all over Asia (Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, and China) and I think this might be my favorite resort because of the beautiful property and the friendly staff. I hope they continue providing this wonderful hospitality that makes guests want to go back because of the great...
