I sent 3 nights here and experienced alot which are as follows, firstly the rooms are very affordable .For the bedspace in a shared room with 4 banker beds (120 kwacha per night) well spaced with a fan , two sockets placed in one position (carry an extension card),with mosquito nets (but carry a strong anti mosquito spray or if you forget go to the reception and ask for it because the nets are damaged),bathrooms are outside but very clean with hot water for bathing 💃 ,toilet paper and soap and the beddings in the shared rooms are not daily changed/cleaned from my experience (i paid for a night thinking i was not going to be there the next day and checked out in the next morning but the same day in the evenings i came back and checked in and found the bed and same beddings as i left them not even stretched). Then for the chalet (250 kwacha per night)and not self contained ,the outside bathrooms were used for the two types of accommodation provided here. Secondly ,their food was great and very affordable it is know for it's charcoal grilled meats (not so much for the vegetarians sorry)and has a bar too which is separate from the restaurant (so its a kid friendly place good for a family outing (order food ,eat and have great conversations)).lastly, i noticed some weak points in the management of this place and from my experiences saw that the middle management staff and lower management level are not working in one voice (example ,one customer was giving a customer complaint to one staff acquiring an explanation to why the standards of this place are going and to my shock that staff said proudly that for them personally they knew their job very well and went to school for it but other workers don't know their job well and continued to blast against the other workers and lifting themselves up, i expected that staff to say sorry and ask what exactly the customer misses or just say we as management are having a problem with working together but we are working on it or something else and another experience was when checking in one says we give towels to bedspace users and when the other person came for the next shift comes to say they don't provide towels .i was very confused as a customer).Anyways, found alot of friendly people from all over the world who were living there that made my living in a strange city fun and home away home(💃💃😍😍) .Good place in Rhodes park for different outings like include eating, drinking...
Read moreThis is a wonderful all day and part night joint, but the name "Backpackers" may be misleading. It's more like a lodge with ten rooms available for a short or long stay. Excellent for out of town business, though, unfortunately the rooms are almost always fully booked because of it's proximity to a shopping mall, Central Police Station, and Lusaka's main Inter-Town Bus Station known as Inter City Bus Terminus. The Terminus connects to all towns within Zambia 🇿🇲 and neighbouring countries such as Botswana, Malawi, South Africa and Zimbabwe. Back to Broads Road Backparkers: parking space for Patrons inside the premises is limited to about five vehicles, but ample parking space is available outside the premises with three or four alert Security Guards to ensure Patrons vehicles are not tampered. There is a fully- fledged Bar with an assortment of wines, spirits, lagers, soft drinks and fruit juices. Meals are readily available commencing at 10.00 Hours, and throughout the day. For starch, there is Zambia's staple Nshima, rice and fries. For accompaniment, there is fresh or dry fish, chicken and at least two meat dishes of pork and beef. There is a selection of four different vegetables, of which one can sample a bit of all four. An extra special attraction is the Braii stand offering fresh and dry fish, steaks and chicken. See you there when in Lusaka. Social distancing is encouraged and there is ample space to cater for this factor of the...

We expected noise from the bar and restaurant as we were staying in one of the ensuite rooms in the main house near the kitchen and restaurant, but we didn’t expect that they would be demolishing and replacing tiles from the kitchen (the room next to ours) the whole night. They were using sledge hammers to remove tiles until about 2am. We had asked them 3 times to stop before that. They continued making noise through the night putting up new tiles and tapping them in place, and restarted with the sledge hammers again at 6 am. We didn’t get any sleep at all and had to be up early the next morning. The staff generally didn’t seem able to make the guys stop working, and the receptionist, while really friendly and helpful generally, didn’t offer much sympathy. Would recommend staying...
