An experience in the true Africa.I believe they call Zambia the REAL AFRICA and indeed it is.I came in Zambia through the livingstone border post where the baboons took my bag with food.I stayed at a lodge called Ashiana where i found the owner so amazing it seemed that he knew so much and a wise man indeed.I left livingstone the next day by bus headed to lusaka where I looked around for some place to stay i went to all places only to settle at the new place called Flintstones Backpackers former Koumboka backpackers it seems like its management had changed from the last time i was there, its really neat and clean I enjoyed my stay for four days they have friendly staff clean linen hot water security to the guests and a bar which I had my beer at.I continued my journey to the wild side of Zambia where I went to Kafue national park,I had a time of my life camping, was able to see a rhino, couple of imapala's, kudu, giraffe and also buffalo which was rare to see at that time of the year.I returned to lusaka to Flintstones Backpackers had my nights rest and asked the receptionist if they could arrange a cab which took me to the Airport I caught my flight back to south africa headed home and had a very good experience. I would recommend Flintstones Backpackers to travellers it is a very budget friendly place with cheerful staff and great atmosphere, I will definately...
Read moreWe arrived in Lusaka after a 50 hour train ride from Dar es Salaam followed by a very uncomfortable 3 hour ride in a packed mini van. We had no idea how long the train would take as there doesn’t seem to be a standard arrival time, so we hadn’t booked a room. The first place we went was full, so our taxi driver suggested this place. We were utterly exhausted so just agreed. The receptionist was just ice cold and he room was only half finished being renovated. It smelt of paint, the tiling in the shower wasn’t finished and there were loose electrical wires hanging down in the shower where a light should have been. But hey there was a bed and that was all we cared about, what’s a little electrocution? My partner went out to the bar to have a beer and chill out a bit, but the bar staff was really rude to him for daring to ask for a drink and then couldn’t give him change from 50 Kwacha even though there was a bar full of people drinking. She made him get the 10 Kwacha for the beer and water from the money we paid for the room and told him he had to pay it back in the morning. The next morning while he was out trying to get change, some guy came knocking at our door looking for the 10 Kwacha. He said he had lent my partner the money for the beer and needed the cash back. I had no idea who he was and it made no sense. Turned out they took the 10 from this guy. Place...
Read moreLooked around this place in search for a place to sleep for a night in Lusaka near town centre, very cheap and affordable place to sleep as low as 80 kwacha for a bedspace in a shared room with two banker beds(meaning four people in a room for the female with a shared toilet and bathroom with the males ,toilets and bathroom(no hot water) are not in good and clean conditions) anyways there is hope for cleaner conditions because there are alot of renovation happening here .It also has a bar with a pool table(alot of young people at this place) and restaurant where you can buy food and drinks while at that place .Least i forget, they have better rooms for one and self contained too and all going for 290 kwacha per night.Hoping to visit again and use their facilities once the...
