For those who decided to stay longer - you will surely be harassed so choose Intercontinental instead. There has been a series of egregious incidents during my recent stay at your property where I spent over 30,000 USD in several weeks, which collectively amount to severe misconduct, harassment, invasion of privacy, and gross negligence. To be clear this is coming from a young woman who visited for business and was mistreated and harassed by your employees.
Destruction of Personal Property Despite clear care instructions, your staff irreparably damaged my personal property – my travel bag and Gucci dresses valued at approximately USD 15,000 which i cannot wear anymore– by failing to follow my written cleaning directions and garment care tags.
Invasion of Privacy and Harassment Following my polite complaint about the damaged dresses, 4 service staff members (3 of them male) entered my room without consent and demanded that I count my personal undergarments in their presence while i was in my bath robe. This was an appalling invasion of privacy, in direct violation of the dignity, safety, and respect owed to a paying guest.
Public Humiliation and Misrepresentation I was verbally disrespected in the hotel lobby, where staff stated that they had “booked my stay,” but i never pay, and, upon my return from a day-long trip, the Assistant Manager - Brij - who should be fired and never ever work in his life – falsely representing himself as the General Manager – refused to connect me to the actual GM, shouted at me in front of other guests with his colleague standing next to him and smiling, and engaged in conduct witnessed by my independent legal advisor present in the lobby.
Chemical Exposure and Inadequate Remediation Prior to this, staff sprayed chemicals on the floor that permeated my room, creating an unsafe environment. The proposed “solution” was to spray perfume over the affected area – an unacceptable and unsafe practice. Clean air should be th minimum requirement in the hotel - don't you think?
Breach of Confidentiality and Business Interference Instead of addressing my concerns professionally, staff unlawfully interfered in my private business dealings by demanding the phone number of a potential partner (a complete stranger) and disclosing details of my stay. This interference caused severe damages to my business, resulting in measurable financial and reputational damage.
Unauthorized Handling of Personal Belongings Without my permission, staff handled all of my belongings in an attempt to move me to another room. During this time, the same Assistant Manager, Brij, ordered me to “sit on the couch and shut up” – conduct that is both abusive and unacceptable while about 7 people were coming in and out of my room touching my belongings including government paperwork.
Financial Misconduct by Staff I was solicited by staff to lend them ZMW 2,000, which has not been repaid. This is wholly inappropriate and constitutes harassment and financial misconduct.
Pattern of Disrespect Despite Significant Patronage Over the course of several weeks, I have spent close to USD 30,000 at your property, including considerable amounts in staff tips. Despite this, I have been subjected to sustained mistreatment by staff, servers, and management.
These actions collectively constitute:
Breach of the hotel’s duty of care to its guests;
Multiple violations of guest privacy and confidentiality policies;
Harassment and humiliation of a guest;
Unlawful interference with business relationships;
Negligence resulting in substantial...
Read moreThe property at Neelkanth is phenomenal, the room was amazing with brilliant features and many amenities across the site are great. Being only half hour from the airport and across the road from the mall, it is situated in a great spot in Zambia, however this is where the positives stop. Service was generally ok, though you were left waiting for quite a while for orders (half hour for coffee at breakfast?!). Worse, though, is their level of organisation. A week previous to arrival, I asked if late checkout was possible, to which I was told it would be at a half day charge, subject to availability with the latest checkout at 6pm. When I then queried the possibility of staying later and being able to book a later checkout, my email was ignored. Upon arrival, I followed up again, asking for a late checkout, as my flight would be at midnight. The manager said that they were going to have guests coming that evening and 2pm would be the latest checkout time, I agreed to this. The night before checkout I was informed that it would not be possible for me to have our room until 2pm and I would need to checkout at 12.
At any hotel I’ve stayed at, late checkout is not ever decided the day of, often I’ve been able to book the late checkout and guaranteed this option or have been told it is not possible for that night.
Considering the size and quality of the property, the organisation is not reflective of this and I was left quite disappointed. I have two young children who ended up sleeping on chairs in the cafe while we waited for our taxi to the airport that night.
The Marriott, which is not too far from the Sarovar, allowed late checkout for some of our family who were there at the same time, they got this confirmed the week before arrival (at the same point I had asked Sarovar!)
Overall a great property with some very questionable admin! Book at...

Neelkanth had amazing staff from the young bell boys to the floor managers and every one in between. We were warmly greeted by all staff, in their bright sunshine coloured blazers, at every encounter, from the cheerful room maids to all the waiting staff.|Amazing array of food in the hotel’s 3 restaurants from the Copper Pot to the poolside lounge and restaurant to the reception sweet treats cafe - spoilt for choice and left a few pounds heavier ( in weight) from sampling all the delights!|This may also be due to the afternoon treats delivered at teatime daily to our rooms and even left there if we were out- icing of the cake literally as chefs catered specifically for all our party by making sure these were eggless / vegetarian- delicious!|Rooms were large, modern and spacious and had everything needed -literally kitchenette was stocked and even had a combined washing machine and dryer situated on one of our balconies.
