Alfresco 2 Cakes & Gelati — Local services in Adelaide

I recently spent over $200 at this bakery on a birthday cake and four dozen mixed continental cakes, including one dozen cannoli. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed with the experience.

The cannoli were half the size they used to be, yet they still cost $3 each. When I called to ask about it, I was told that the bakery had changed the size four months ago and that if I wanted the original (larger) cannoli, I would have needed to pre-order them well that's what I did about a week ago. How was I supposed to know about this change? If they come in 2 sizes why wouldn't you ask me what size i wanted. Interestingly all the other cakes stayed the same. As I told the lady, us being the customer and her selling and knowing the change should have told me. There was no apology or offer of a refund was given.

The birthday cake was also disappointing. The inscription looked rushed — small, off-center number higher than Happy, and looks like it was added as an afterthought. For the price I paid, the quality and service simply weren’t good enough.

"We are absolutely blown away by the team at Alfresco. We ordered a cake for our daughter's communion, and it was stunning—it looked and tasted amazing.

But the real reason for this 5-star review is the incredible service. We had a mini-disaster and accidentally damaged the cake in transit on our way home. We called them, and the staff were immediately helpful. The owner/decorator, who had already finished for the day, came all the way back to the shop just to help us fix it.

This level of care and commitment is almost unheard of these days. They truly saved the day for us. Thanks to their amazing help, the cake was perfect for the function, and everyone loved it.
