I remember when Tony Galati and family gave away free potatoes at his Spudshed stores.
I do recall as a protest.
I have sine learned Galati became a household name in Western Australia for his protracted legal battles against the Potato Marketing Corporation of Western Australia (PMC).
In 2015, the PMC launched legal action against Galati, alleging that he had planted more than his allocated quota of potatoes.
Somehow this unnecessarily Prohibited Galati from selling 'excess' potatoes!
Maybe the Galati family are just great gardeners.
This (PMC) prompted the free potatoes!
Galati family are the legends & main reason for the repealed 50kg potatoe possession laws and the fall of the potatoe board!
The potatoe marketing board was pretty fierce! The whole potatoe cartel is what spawned the spudshed in contemptuous rebellion.
Thankfully the potatoe board no longer exists.
Carry only 49kg of potatoes at any one time just to be on the safe side of the law, should it pop up again unannounced...
Did you know it was illegal to have more than 50kg of potatoes in your possession before May 2021?
I'd vote for Tony Galati to run Australia!

Read moreFull on Easter time. Entrance is a nice walk, first time here. Shopping trolleys have their own space nice, weekly specials strategically placed, always luv vegetables and fruit displays and placement, mega, fresh well stocked and great variety, great prices. Meat section another favourite 😍 can't go past bulk steak even greater savings, I know bargains galore, no brainer. Areas that I have found that could do with improving are the dairy, bakery/bread. They appear incomplete and as in other Spudshed outlets disorganised and not as well stocked. Maybe it's timing on my behalf. Great variety of products available all round with other brands inclusive 😀 Ton of specials available, clean and checkout here was full on and better organised, fully staffed. I'm biased, I love Spudshed, new shops make Shopping a delightful experience and opportunity to try different brands at reasonable prices and if u don't like that brand try another at good price. Love added personal touch of the owners portrait.... made in Australia 🇦🇺Maybe it's me and I skipped this ailse all together ❤️ 🙃, they have a Kiwi produce section ...yeah fuller flavour!!, Bread section grown and...
Read moreWhoever manages this place is letting the store and their staff down.
The store is consistently understaffed leading to queues that extend to the back of the store on a daily basis. Staff are friendly and when asked, are vocal about the issues and the poor management. Unfortunately nothing is being done.
Price miss match is a consistent problem. I used to not ask for a receipt until I realised I was being overcharged for items marked on sale yet being scanned at full price at the till. When asked, again staff are friendly and willing to refund but the comments are “so sorry this regularly happens but our manager isn’t doing anything about it”
This is not good enough. If you are the only store open after hours you have to have a plan for when traffic increases at late hours. Having 2 people on tills on a Saturday at 7pm is not good enough for the traffic increases Ellenbrook for example.
I spent 25min in line today to pay for items I thought were going to help make a quick dinner. Nothing quick about spending half an hour at a...
