VRC carnival, 'OVERRATED' Melb Cup, a great race but Flemington has issues: Some buildings not suited for mobility impaired persons. No free general admission seating. Public car parking centre of racecourse. Public transport(trains),very overcrowded. Large crowds,line up for everything on course not comfortable. Dress regulations(members)not strictly adhered too. Use to be sophistication,style,decorum and class,now just filled with drunks. RSA compliance? Not a safe venue,practice emergency evacuations not conducted. Customers deserve better ! Read moreThe traditional pilgrimage to Flemington for the Melbourne Cup Carnival is now more about the "in crowd" and "being seen" than actually watching the races. The cost of attendance to members enclosures has steadily risen over the years and isn't really in reach of the average punter. You could hire a catering firm and decorate your back yard and watch the same races on your TV for what it costs in entry and catering costs.
