ORDERED: 🥯  Smoked Salmon Bagel: with creamed feta, avocado, Spanish onion, micro herbs ($16.50) Potato croquette ☕ Soy chai latte ($5.00)

I paid $24.75 here

REVIEW: The soy chai latte at Local Folk is the best. They froth and make their milk perfectly. I don't know how they do it, but they consistently concoct a sweet taste, so you don't need to add any sugar to this. Chai latte is also a good kind. Not to cinnamon-y, but more similar to gingerbread or pumpkin spice. It's delicious. I come back so often!

The food was mid. The creamed feta didn't have the sweet, cloying taste that complimented the salmon bagel, I found that cream cheese with a dill spread to be more delicious. It was a decent feed, but nothing amazing.

Located next to a vet clinic, the outdoor area is perfect for you to bring your pet as well. They're also pet friendly, with a filled water dog bowl underneath the outdoor order counter. But service on weekend morning was a little rough. We were left without a menu, water, and utensils for a while after we were seated by them. Then getting their attention outside was tough, too. We had to wait until they brought food out to another table before we were able to flag them down. But they were very helpful in giving us something off the menu, a croquette, as a side because we weren't dedicated enough...

5 Stars for the coffee. But if it were customer service I'd hesitate to even give 2 stars. I ordered a coffee from the window. There were people ordering and picking up from there. The Barista, after preparing my coffee shouted out "Mocha..flat white". I got a little confused and didn't move closer to the window thinking its someone else's coz he also said flat white..which wasn't part of my order. Then the girl who took my order initially, said to me "Yeah mate.. your order's ready. Can you come from the front side"? She was literally 1 step away from where the barista had left my Mocha & instead of picking it up and handing it over to me, she asked me to walk around to the front and grab it from the front counter. Whereas, there were a couple of other customers who had ordered before I did, and they were handed over their cups instead of being advised to come and pick it up from the front. It didn't cost me a dime to grab it from the front, but I noticed she only did it to myself and no one else. Felt discriminatory and hence unhappy :(

----- Response to owner's reply--------

I would have agreed if Barista wouldn't have handed over coffee to two customers before my turn...Intrigued to know if Barista had some thing in her eyes that lets her scan for Covid, that too...

Very disappointed with the service today and lack of accountability. We ordered breakfast for 3 and waited over 45 mins while we watched tables around us who had sat down at least 20 mins after us get food, while others that had sat down around the same time also sat waiting. A clue should have been the table of 5 with a baby who were there before us get told their order never went through, who then got up and left frustrated. You’d think this would have prompted staff or management to double check all other orders were tracking okay?? Instead we had to ask why our order was taking so long, and then had the waitress return a few mins later asking what our order was and writing it down again. Realising our order never went through, we stood up to leave to blank faces from the waitress, and the manager clearly watching on. No accountability, no apology, no offer to fix the situation. Very frustrating and we won’t...

My partner had gotten top notch coffee from local folk in the past and rated it. So we decided to go in for brunch. Partner had a latte and I had a matcha latte both were milky and very weak -no flavour, just tasted like milk. For food we had gnocchi mushroom and local folk breakky with added hashbrowns. Both dishes had mushrooms that smelt and tasted like fish and gave us both a sore stomach. Partner’s avo was hard and not even ripe. Service was standard. Sweets and pastry window looked stale and unpleasant and messy. Will not recommend this place for future customers, not sure why theres such a high rating.

It looks like a fairly standard run-of-the-mill hipster Cafe from the outside, but inside reveals a fresh, rustic refuge that is normally packed with people. The coffee is excellent (Toby's Estate), waiting staff were friendly & had good table service. The food options are plenty, mainly aimed around healthier (but no less delicious) options. These guys also have a walk-up coffee window on the Bayswater Rd side which gets really busy.
