Newmarket Tavern — Restaurant in Melbourne

Went to the Newmarket Tavern in Flemington as I was stuck for the afternoon in the area, and I must say it was an incredibly disappointing experience. From the moment I walked in, I couldn't help but notice how dirty the place was. The floors were grimy, and the tables looked like they hadn't been cleaned in ages. It was quite off-putting and made me question the overall cleanliness of the establishment.

Another major issue was the overwhelming presence of pokies and the number of intoxicated individuals. The Newmarket Tavern seemed more like a gambling den than a place where people could relax and socialize. The incessant noise from the pokies machines made it impossible to have a decent conversation, and it was clear that some patrons were there solely for the purpose of gambling, with little regard for anything else.

The atmosphere was anything but pleasant. The combination of dirty surroundings, loud noises from the pokies, and the excessive drinking created a disconcerting vibe. It felt more like a dive bar than a reputable establishment. I was genuinely uncomfortable during my time there, and I couldn't wait to leave.

Furthermore, the service left much to be desired. The staff seemed disinterested and overwhelmed, making it difficult to get their attention when needed. It appeared as though they were more focused on catering to the frequent pokies players than providing a welcoming environment for all customers.

Don't be fooled by the gluten free bun option!!! I ordered a gluten free burger but when it arrived on my table I asked the waiter if it was in fact gluten free. He couldn't tell me so went to check with the chef, came back and told me that is wasn't and that the sauces used on it weren't gluten free either. Also, the chips that I had been snacking on while waiting for him to return weren't gluten free. No other option was offered until I asked if there was anything else on the menu that I could have. The waiter checked with the chef and told me that I could order a side of potatoes! I was given a refund and waited for my friends to finish before leaving. I was very disappointed. My local Supermarket which I've been going too since it opened apx 25yrs+ There is New Market Tavern on grounds which has extensive TAB services and lots of T.V,'s too watch the action! A seperate pokies venue with a sports bar next too it. Friendly staff. The plaza has a large Woolworths, paper and Lotto shop, Chemist Warehouse, with a large selection of fragrances. Also they can do Covid_19 vaccinations. A nice hairdressers and a bargain $2 shop that has a good selection of Nic Naks. Not to mention a very nice Food and coffee shop where you can have a seat and enjoy a Battista coffee and food.
