Costco is 1 of the best places to shop the products are great quality and the fuel is always cheap now I spend over $250 per week at Costco, BUT the staff are disgusting. Today I purchased some items and when I got to the register the price they charge me was more than what was on display I questioned the price and check out operator somebody another staff member up there to check it. Now, it was a busy day for me and the staff member was taking so long, almost 10 minutes, I ask for a manager to try to hurry things up but she spoke very rude and speaking down to me and made it seem like this was all my fault. When we got to the register the manager called her superior, and he said that this was all my fault and I should show respect to his staff, but his staff did not show any respect to me, Costco needs to understand that respect is earned not given... If I get respect I would definitely give respect back. As I was walking out the door where the staff members check your receipt and make sure you haven't stole anything because at Costco you must prove your Innocence before you exit the store I said to myself "what a joke" and the staff member said to me "then don't shop here anymore" I was not surprised at this comment come from a Costco staff member as this incident wasn't the first one that I have come across. A couple of months ago as I was entering Costco I had my membership card ready to show the staff member but she was talking to what look like friends it wasn't paying attention to her job, and she did not notice that I showed her my membership card she chased me through the store making me feel like I was a criminal yelling at me that I didn't show her my card I said to her if you're paying attention to your job you would have seen that I had my membership card out and shown it to you as I walk past but once again this was my fault in her eyes and Costco staff can never do anything wrong. Now, I have been a member of Costco for a very long time, and I remember on my second visit I pass through the cash registers and one of their staff members was putting stuff into my trolley when I was exiting the store I showed the staff member my receipt and she very rudely spoke to me and accuse me of stealing one of the items that wasn't there which it was there as the staff at the cash register put it under another item, people were looking at me like I stole something and I was extremely embarrassed. I understand that there is people out there that threaten, abuse, and attack shopping staff, but Costco needs to understand that someone venting their frustration and disappointment is in no way threatening or attacking a shopping staff member. Now I know what you are all going to think, so I want everybody to know not one time did I swear, abuse, or use any racial slurs to any of the Costco staff members in the entire time I have shopped here. I know posting this review could be risky as Costco could cancel my membership but I hope they look at this another way so they might be able to teach their staff on how to speak to people and not hide behind the new laws to stamp out the REAL abuse threats and attacks on shopping staff, and take on board customers criticism and feedback, I hope I can continue shopping at Costco in the future as I'm very happy with their products and fuel and I can also be a bigger man as I am sure that I will still be spoken to rudely by the Costco staff in the future as I can't see...

It's a rainy day, bright red shopping cart parts doors like Moses Flash my card quick before the guy notices that it is outdated.
I pass a few advertisements “Gutter Cleaning” “Trip to Hawaii” “Pizza for $2.99— Wait. That's the food court.
People bunch together crumpled up like straw wrappers
Wink at the checkout lines I'll be back for you later my wrinkled shopping list is in dire need of some crossing out.
I ride on my cart with a purpose— skimming through aisles of
Twelve TV screens Bouquets of pungent flowers Fifteen gallon jars of pretzels pointedly avoiding the price tags Diamond earrings “Ancient” balsamic vinaigrette An entire patio?
However, my mind is quickly diverted from the great price: Comes with four chairs, a table and a canopy! and is instead fixated on one Very Important Fact.
There sixty feet ahead of me stands a crew of Costco staff, turquoise aprons clean pressed and wispy hair tamed by hairnets. Their smiles were only accentuated by the holy light of industrial bulbs.
Reflexively my mouth starts to water Those metal carts were a sight for sore feet Look at uniform rows of tiny white cups, and savor the feeling of wanting more. I know that everyone says that there is no limit on samples but fifty-eight chicken fillets is enough.
Onwards! Blow past grab some muffins maybe a chicken or two some frozen peas a bunch of bananas sprint into the produce room to grab corn and come out shivering anyway.
Wheel through stacks of laundry detergent piled impossibly high that dare to touch that metal crossed ceiling.
Slow down a bit near the front for some of those children’s vitamins That my mum still insists on. I wish I could find a bottle With only the orange flavor.
Ah yes, back to my love, self checkout. We meet again, I brought many items for you… I have bought too many items.
I valiantly push my shopping cart hand over my receipt and the highlighter shows its approval of my choices with a haphazard slash.
I cannot help but feel that customary wave of sadness that stems from the sad pink check mark and the loss of the smiley face.

Read moreReview for Costco Airport Perth – Membership Desk Experience
Today I visited Costco Airport Perth to subscribe to a membership, and I must honestly say that my experience with the staff member who assisted me was disappointing. A blond young man wearing glasses handled my registration. As someone who speaks English at an intermediate level, I was doing my best to understand the process and communicate clearly. However, instead of receiving patient and respectful assistance, I was met with discourteous facial expressions and body language that made me feel uncomfortable and judged for my communication efforts.
Despite trying to use alternative words and expressions, the staff member continued to speak very quickly and made no effort to adapt or clarify in a more empathetic way. In the end, I simply accepted the card, thanked him, and left, feeling quite disheartened.
Australia is a wonderfully multicultural country that welcomes people from all over the world. Businesses operating here—especially customer-facing ones—should be mindful of how important it is to foster a respectful, inclusive, and patient environment. This is not only a matter of courtesy but also a responsibility under anti-discrimination principles and equal opportunity policies upheld in Australia. From a psychological perspective, a dismissive or judgmental approach can significantly affect a customer’s sense of belonging and comfort, and potentially deter them from returning.
Costco is a global brand known for its values, and I believe it's important that all its staff, especially those at the front desk, receive proper training in cultural awareness, active listening, and empathy. I hope this feedback is taken constructively, as my intention is not to complain, but to encourage improvement in the way new members are welcomed—especially those who are still developing their English skills.
Thank you for considering...
