I had an extremely disappointing experience with La Porte Space. As a new business owner, I rented a desk here and made it clear during my tour that I required direct sunlight for filming, as I manage social media accounts for brands. I was assured this wouldn’t be an issue and was also told I would have full, unrestricted access to the building, including on weekends. Unfortunately, this was not accurate. They host weddings and events on weekends, which disrupts access to the space—and no prior notification is given. Sure they're not having the wedding in my office, but how is that appropriate to walk through someones wedding to get to my office?
After signing the lease, I received an email with terms of use that outlined restrictions I wasn’t initially made aware of and which didn’t align with my needs. Despite leaving 20 days into the lease and requesting a refund of my bond as a resolution, my request was denied. Additionally, I was told I owed $300 for cleaning, which they said they waived as a “goodwill” gesture. I'd love to know who's charging $300 to clean a desk.
In the end, I lost $2,000 and valuable time, which negatively impacted my new business. While I’ve learned an important lesson about ensuring everything is in writing, I would caution others to carefully evaluate the terms and conditions and be crystal clear in communicating at La Porte Space to avoid a similar experience.

Read moreBeautiful venue, but a disappointing experience.
We booked the outdoor courtyard for our wedding ceremony which was over $3,000 for a half-day minimum (even though we only needed two hours), and didn’t include seating or a microphone.
Communication was mostly fine beforehand, but on the day assistance fell short. Despite confirming that staff would handle our ceremony music, we were told only hours before to arrange a guest to do it instead. Staff eventually helped, but the songs didn’t play correctly or loudly enough, leading to confusion and awkward silences.
The space itself is stunning, but unless you have a planner or coordinator, expect some stress and confusion. Nearly two weeks on, we’re still waiting for our bond refund, and the compulsory $330 cleaning fee felt excessive given we had no food or rubbish, and our event was predominantly in an outdoor space that’s cleaned monthly.

Read moreI found this to be a very unique venue. There are multiple spaces of all shapes and sizes. It's a bit weird to navigate all the different pokey holes and little secret spaces. The toilets were a bit of a mission to find. It's not a bad place to have an event if you're looking for somewhere that has multiple spaces, but the larger conferences room type spaces were a bit cavernous and had a bit of an echo in them. This made some speakers difficult to hear clearly, this might have been the result of poor...
