A couple of days ago, I visited the Profitrol store in Guildford to inquire about cake sizes and prices. The staff member seemed busy, so she informed me that I had until December 28th to place my order, giving me time to think about what I wanted. She mentioned that I could return when I had made my decision.
Today, I returned to place my order. I arrived at 8:45 PM, and as soon as I opened the door, the staff member immediately said, "We are closing in 5 minutes," without a greeting or offer of assistance. I explained that I was only there to place an order, not to make a purchase. She told me to come back tomorrow. I clarified that all she needed to do was take my order and write it down. Her response was rude, and my husband intervened, suggesting that we go to the Mays Hill store instead.
We were both shocked by the poor treatment, especially since we are regular customers and always purchase our cakes from this particular store. I then called the Mays Hill store to place my order and mentioned the Guildford store's early closure at 8:50 PM, despite their website stating a 10:00 PM closing time. The Mays Hill staff explained that they were closing early due to Christmas Eve, but their official closing time is 9:00 PM.
The entire experience was extremely disappointing. After my husband told the staff member that he would be escalating the issue to her manager, her response was, "You do whatever you like." I will never return to the Guildford store again, especially after...
Read moreI visited Profiterole Patisserie in Guildford with high hopes, especially to try their ashta ice cream. As someone who’s grown up enjoying authentic Lebanese ashta from well-known patisseries like L’Abeille D’or in Lebanon, I was really looking forward to something that would take me back to those familiar flavours and textures. While the ashta ice cream was nice and had a smooth consistency, it just didn’t quite deliver the depth or authenticity I was hoping for. The flavour was mild and lacked the rich, floral creaminess and subtle rose or orange blossom notes that traditional Lebanese ashta is known for. It wasn’t bad by any means — it just felt more like a modern or simplified version rather than the real deal, and could tatse the milk. The patisserie itself is beautiful — very clean, stylish, and well laid out with a wide range of appealing sweets and desserts. The presentation was lovely and the service was friendly, which made the visit pleasant overall. If you’re after a light treat or haven’t had authentic ashta before, you might enjoy it. But for those who know what traditional Lebanese ashta should taste like, this version may fall a...

I had ordered a two tiered cake for my baby’s gender reveal party a picture and I’d received a cake not even close enough to what I had in mind ( wish there was an option to attach pictures) When we went to pick the cake up, it was already wobbling around with a huge crack around the edge on lowest part which was extremely concerning. Then we were told we should’ve asked for delivery ( right before the event, nothing has been mentioned before! How should I know?!) The cake looked mediocre, tasted mediocre while was slipping on side after a couple of hours ( sitting in fridge!) The guy at the shop was nice enough to deliver it to us and tried to fix the cracked part by spreading the cream to those parts but unfortunately that didn’t work after a while, I had to change the flowers on top myself ( as a florist we know it is a big no to shove the flower stems with all pesticides n chemicals in a cake, but that is how they’d done it!) More than half of the cake is still sitting on my kitchens bench top since nobody really enjoyed it The only bad memory of the night would be...
