Overrated and Underwhelming – Decent if You’re Nearby, But Not Worth the Trip
I’ve visited Quick Shawarma in Guildford a few times now, and I’ve nearly tried everything on their menu. After giving it multiple chances and sampling most of what they offer, I can honestly say the experience has been consistently average. There’s nothing terrible about it, but there’s also nothing particularly memorable. It feels like one of those places that relies more on hype than substance.
The food is okay. Shawarma wraps, plates, and sides are fairly standard. The meat can be decent at times, but I’ve also had servings where it was dry and underwhelming. Flavours are muted, and the seasoning just doesn't pop the way it should. It’ll fill you up, but it won’t leave much of an impression. I expected more considering how busy they get.
What I’ve noticed is that customer service seems to drop slightly during busy times. Staff appear overwhelmed, and things start to feel rushed and less attentive. While they’re not outright rude, the interaction lacks the friendliness and care you’d expect. In the evenings especially, when it gets crowded, the focus seems to shift away from the customer experience. It also seems like Uber orders get prioritized, which could be a reason for the slow service. If you’re ordering in-store, be prepared for a longer wait while delivery orders are taken care of first.
Another big letdown is the wait time. Despite the name Quick Shawarma, the food often takes a while to be prepared. Even simple orders tend to move slowly through the queue, which can be frustrating if you’re in a hurry.
That said, if you’re passing by and the place isn’t busy, it can be a convenient option for a quick feed. But I wouldn’t recommend going out of your way. It’s a decent fallback if you're nearby, but...
Read moreI came here during my work break on Monday around 3pm. It was fairly busy and I was a bit intimidated being the only South-East Asian there. Nonetheless, I was greeted and served with excellent service by the lady in the hijab. She helped me order as I’ve never been to a shawarma place before (only kebab places). I ordered the large mix snack pack with garlic and tahini for $25. After ordering I felt like I should have bought the regular for $18 because the large didn’t look that big of an upgrade. The wait was a bit of a while but that’s because there were a lot of people.
Oh man, when I got it, it was huge! I didn’t care about the 15 minute wait anymore. They filled it to the top with meat that it even stuck to the top of the lid when I opened it. The picture below is after a few bites of it were taken. I really like how they slice their meat with a knife instead of a shaver so you get these really big slices of chicken. When I got to halfway, I was almost full and didn’t even eat anything that whole day before. The large can easily feed 2 people. Will definitely go back to this place when I’m around the...
Read moreI always start with a positive, the food is sensational and exotic a bit pricey compared to other Lebanese takeaways in St George area where I come from. This vibrant Lebanese take away tucked away in Sydneys west is a great find. However they are so popular and busy ; with menu log and Uber eats a small order like mine over the counter for a one wrap left me sitting and waiting patiently for over half an hour . They actually forgot about me and after 20 min I said I only ordered a wrap I pre paid and now you put online ORDERS before your walk in customers. He then puy my kafta on the hot plate and it still took another 10-15 min before anyone bothered to make my sandwich. I will go back as they have an extraordinary exotic menu but I advise to pre order over the phone then pick up. Or dont pre pay tell them you will pay once you have your order. I think when you pre pay they dont care how long you wait because they already have your cash 💰 So the name QUICK Shwarma does not live up to its name. SLOW SHWARMA would be...
